      Hybrid Network
How the Xenomorph grown fast It's Possibly it was a stronger version of the Xenomorph.
But has years past the eggs in the derelict space ship became much slower to growth inside, maybe. Or maybe it's the environment.

They should make an Alien film where the Weyland Yutani corporation are capable of launching a spacecraft without the entire crew dying.

    • @internationalartprojects8660
      @internationalartprojects8660 7 років тому +21

Their track record is pretty lousy to say the least. 2093 Weyland Corporation launches mission to outer space, multi million dollar ship explodes all crew dead including founder Peter Weyland and his daughter. 2104 Weyland Yutani multi Billion Dollar colony ship to distant planet, all crew dead fate of colonists unknown, 2122 Weyland Yutani corporation lose mining ship all crew dead, 1 survivor discovered over 50 years later. 2179 Weyland Yutani colony destroyed over 300 casualties. Rescue mission failure all crew dead survivors crash land into prison eventually killing all crew members. I think the company will eventually go broke due to law suits and compensation claims.

It's protocol at this point to have an extendable crew, a heroine and some shady guy who wants to infect said heroine with the alien. Maybe David is running Weyland Yutani all these years.

Obviously she was gonna die but at least give her another movie or 2 to flesh out her character (no pun intended)
David should of kept her in cryo sleep & admire her & protect her, he could of saw the covenant crew as a nuisance when they arrived, so that's why he kills them

LV426 chestbuster space jockey corpse was 2000 years old fosil, David shouldn't be creator of xenomorph. It must be he coincidentally discovered the recipe of engineers to cook up xenomorph. :P

I guess it's retcon. They did the same thing with the Space Jockeys. There's no way that in the original film was it intended to be a bio suit. It was actual skeletal remains and it was explained that these aliens evolved with their technology so much that in a sense the Jockey was one with the ship. Not to mention the Jockey in the original was much larger as well.

Damn. I was really heartbroken for what happened to Shaw.
When I saw the prologue with David going all Magneto on the Engineers, I thought he was doing it to protect humanity after we find out in Prometheus that they wanted to exterminate us with the black goo. So yay... humanity invades and kills aliens this time around... But I was surprised that this turned out to be another "robot gone bad" type scenario like Skynet, Ultron, Hal 9000.
What I cant wrap my head around is the gaping plot hole this movie created when you look back at the original Alien movie. (I re-watched it a day after watching Covenant)
So, remember when the Nostromo's crew went to investigate the signal in the original movie? When Dallas, Kane and Lambert found the corpse of the Engineer, they said he's been dead a long time - long enough for him to fossilize as if he was growing out of the chair. On taking a closer look - they say he died because something "burst out of his chest". This scene takes place immediately before they stumble on the cache of Alien eggs that were sitting directly under the ship's bridge.
So if David engineered / created the xenomorphs - how can an ancient Engineer die from a chest burster? Sure, maybe it wasn't a xenomorph chestburster like we saw in Prometheus, but it feels heavily implied in the original movie. Soooo what's going on here? time travel? Or maybe David stopped by LV-426, made a queen lay hundreds of eggs under the Bridge of an Engineer ship that conveniently already had a fossilized Engineer that coincidentally died by chestburster?

Scott has just lost it and thinks its totally okay for him to retconn the whole series. the Spacejockey in the original film is clearly ancient, the derelict has obviously been there for thousands of years. But, nope, Scott just will ignore that and do whatever he wants now. Which is why I'm starting to think this will go the way of the Star Wars prequels and almost be ignored by a lot of the fanbase. If you create a group of movies in a series that contradict the classics.... that just doesn't really work longterm

    • @abhishekmahendru1583
      @abhishekmahendru1583 7 років тому +2

Ridley doesn't know what he is doing or intends to. He has lost his damn mind instead of making prequels that not only answer questions but make questions, mystery, etc. I am pretty sure Ridley has a tumor and that's impeding his judgment. I never hated a director as much as I hate Ridley. The guy keeps making shit up with no regard to what his prequels and what was done/said in Alien.

That is sad. Throwing away Shaw after a prologue. I mean I understand if Noomi Rapace didn't want to reprise her roll. They should have convinced her to be in half the movie to give some weight to her death. Throwing away the Engineers and then not explaining the main plot point surrounding the Space Jockey. Ending the film in almost the same way as Prometheus to only find out that David created the Xeno? They should have given people an option to buy a special edition Alien cup with their ticket because the writer's kicked the Alien fans in the groin.

So they took one of the most iconic sci-fi creatures in cinema history and basically turned it into "Hur dur! One of the most dangerous creature's ever encountered in space was created by a rogue robot that was created by man!" Nevermind the fact that this tidbit contradicts the mural in Prometheus. What a crock of shit. And the David/Walter switch? Who honestly didn't see that coming? All that hype man...what a fucking let down...

When Daniels realizes that was David but not Walter, it is too late. The door of the pod is closed and she begins to sleep. I almost think David is going to say "GAME OVER" and the music of SAW comes out with a series of quick flash back, then the screen fades out...

So basically the weyland yutani's obsession with xenomorphs was a result of one of their own creations who basically ignored the 3 laws of robotics, as well as being the robotic version of a certain dr mengela, as he basically uses the colonists in cryosleep as fodder to perfect the creation of the xenomorphs, thus possibly making him more evil a scientist in creating a superweapon than either davros or dr wily

I find Shaw's fate is perversely poetic. She had a line in Prometheus about how she couldn't "create life," and ends up being one of the key factors in the creation of a horrible type of life in the xenomorph.
I also am thinking of Ash's line in the original about admiring the creature's "purity" and now knowing that the creature was fashioned by a fellow android. It makes his mission more of like an art collection of sorts, like a religious quest than a nefarious gathering for the Company.

    Where to start.......
    1) Massive deadly solar flare causes destruction and death of the Captain but it takes minutes to fix a solar sail with a hook then all is well.
    2) Can track a planet that requires 7 years sleep but miss a planet that was closer and better suited, even with a signal broadcast from the planet.
    3) Trained and educated scientists navigate through extremely dangerous atmosphere to land but turn into 5 year olds when someone is sick.
    4) Slips on blood.
    5) Slips on the same blood again.
    6) Genocide of an advanced civilization that apparently where our creators by an android created by us.
    7) David cuts his hair.
    8) Witness David with alien, " I know the devil " then " look in this egg, trust me it's safe ". so he looks!
    9) Face hugger egg impregnation like 2 seconds.
    10) Super rapid alien growth.
    11) Killing off Shaw
    12) Old android kills new android with self healing ability.
    13) chest burster overly long gestation
    14) Pointless shower sex scene.
    15) Ripley number 5
    16) Alien sucked out of air lock
    17) Switching androids from Walter to David, you could see that twist coming from a mile away while eating a packet of twistes!
There is much more but fucked if I'm seeing it again, 7/10, please! It was total garbage.

I have what would've been a better back story which would set up multiple trilogies pre-prometheus and post-Aliens (obvious SPOILERS, but this is a spoiler video itself sooooo):
Long ago engineers encountered another advanced civilization in the universe. They were better at science and engineers were better at war. Diplomatic truce. The science ppl were so good at it they figured out how to seed life and started doing so in secret. Mankind turned out to be one of their experiments (more on that later). Eventually the engineers stumbled upon earth and found it inhabited w a species oddly similar to their scientist buddies who didn't tell them they were seeding life. They started taking small samples of the population for experiments and such, while also trying to steal whatever data they could from the scientists. They were eventually caught and war breaks out (this turns out to be what's been speculated as the Engineer Civil War).
Since engineers are better at killing things, being the physically superior species and all (see: engineer fighting off that massive octopus thing in prometheus w his bare hands) the scientists create the OG biomechanical Xenomorph to even the odds. Now this Xenomorph cannot spawn, and each one much be lab created (a caveat encoded into their original DNA by the scientists to completely control them). Eventually a few are captured by engineers and experimented in, etc (in secret hiding locations such as the world of Prometheus). Eventually the engineers manage to create black goo (a mutagen they used to seed life and can be weaponized to create Xenomorph-esque creatures but not being as good at science, can't 100% replicate the OG biomech Xeno).
Back to humanity. Turns out we're the most promising seeded life form yet, in terms of our evolution/scientific and technical advancements/large scale societies and governments, etc culminating in our "creation" of AI (which our scientist creators already made long ago, we're essentially just accessing shit encoded in our DNA copied from our creators). Inspired by us, the engineers attempt to seed life in their own image as well using their black goo (which is how/why the civilization on Paradise that David eventually destroys looks like smaller engineers w/ human skin tone... And ultimately why David kills them in the first place. More on that later).
So, back to prometheus. The signal sent to us by engineers was merely to gather additional samples of humans for archiving/experimentation/etc before they destroyed earth (since they're still at war with the scientist race and have decided to wipe them, and all evidence of their work out of existence).
Now, leading into Covenant this would explain what David learned while Shaw was in cryosleep that made him decided to bomb the inhabitants of Paradise out of existence. It would also explain why he (SPOILERS) experimented on Shaw. He realized her reproductive organs were mutated during the events of Prometheus but she still managed to both live, and remain seemingly fully human. So there's something about her physiology that needs to be learned/utilized/etc (I would have Shaw alive during Covenant in an open surgery/adrenaline/antibiotic drip state but that's just me), and from his experiments on her the Alien ability to reproduce is developed (which doesn't make him the creator of the Xenomorph, but does give him a huge role in their advancement). This would explains the eggs in Alien, Aliens, etc without having to retcon anything (and would even make key plot elements of Alien 3 and Resurrection tolerable/logical). David could also use Walter to recreate the OG biomechanical Xenomorph as well, as he discovers that the original creator of man had AI capabilities tens to hundreds of thousands of years ago.
All this does multiple things: explains why engineers hate humans w/o having to tread along the "Jesus was an engineer" shtick, explains the variations in xeno/proto/neomorphs and various kinds of huggers etc, it sets up a trilogy pre-dating prometheus which can also now include OG biomechanical Xenomorphs, as well as make earth ufology and metaphysical fantasy elements ppl love in movies now canon to the Alien universe, as well as setting up a potential post-Aliens (or even post Alien Resurrection depending on where you want to pick the time line up at) trilogy that's literally engineers vs the creators of man vs colonial marines vs Aliens just fucking shit up on a galactic scale.
Unfortunately, I think that Ridley Scott may have fucked that all up to shoehorn Covenant directly into pre-dating the original Alien film.
    Lmk what yall think?

I think the movie for me was a summation of the human race and the quote that goes "evil begets evil". It had a Carl Jungian sentiment in that humans that fail to do the shadow work within themselves project the shadow onto the world, even all of creation. I agree in part with the sentiment expressed, in that we've no business venturing out into the universe and exploring it until we start to get harmonic with ourselves.

How can you not have ANY info about the engineers when this is their damn homeworld and the whole point was to give us some perspective on them? Prometheus and Covenant remind me of the show "Lost", neverendingly providing QUESTIONS but unable to answer anything. Asking questions is easy. Answers are more difficult. Just stands as a reminder of what Scott's always had a problem with- the storytelling and writing. His films always look great and are well made, but unless he's forced to keep things contained he just goes all over the place in terms of plot

They are the reasons why we cant have nice things.

my opinion: David loved Shaw above all things and his experimentation on her corpse was a means to recreate her into a perfect organism. He wanted Shaw to live forever in a way.
Also we don't really know how Shaw died. Her corpse is fairly intact so maybe she only died recently and not 10 years prior to the movie. Hell, maybe it was Shaw who had David kill off the Engineers

  • @sickandtired6156
    @sickandtired6156 7 років тому +8

I would bet the reason he killed Shaw without remorse was the fact he is an android, not a human being bound by any "delusions of morality". Chances are she fulfilled a need and that was enough. Sounds like the calculations of a soulless machine to me, and serves the story arch they are setting up. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if they tried to merge this universe with Blade Runner is some fashion. And notice how it was both Shaw's and Orum's trust in David that leads them to their death. And both were extremely religious. Seems like some kind of parallel to worshiping false idols by trusting something that is clearly not human as if it were, or some type of forbidden fruit metaphor. What appears to be character stupidity and a callous death is probably an attempt at advancing the story: that AI and humanity are not at all the same, and one will ultimately destroy the other. Makes you wonder if the gods' anger at the titan Prometheus was justified.

To me I took David saying how much he loved her as a twisted way of him appreciating her "sacrificing" herself for his creations.
Since she was the only human he had on the planet, she was necessary to create the perfect human killing machine.
So maybe he loved her for giving him the resources he needed to create his perfect being. He also used her voice as a distress beacon to lure the colonists. So she, in a way, also brought him more subjects.
Even though we know he killed her, he couldn't have done it without her.

WoahhItsMonica I'm 50/50 on if David killed Shaw. I mm kind of on the side she might of died in the crash in the planet. Everytime David talks about Shaw he looks really sad. Ash calling the Alien "Cain's Son." A biblical reference to the son of the first murderer.

All tying into the theme of the Alien being "Space Jesus."

My theory about why the engineer that was awakened in Prometheus went berserk is that he escaped David's mass killing of the engineers in Covenant. Somehow he time traveled, because if you watch the scene in Prometheus again it sure looked like he recognized David. If not maybe he just somehow recognized the evil in David.

  • @spirited_dad
    @spirited_dad 7 років тому +2

I'm absolutely heartbroken by this film. I've been obsessing over it for months, just like the lead up to Prometheus, but Covenant left me far more disappointed. Yes, it has a fantastic cinematic appeal, but the things that have had people talking, debating, and imagining on forums and channels like this were all but swept under the rug.
I loved Prometheus. Its flaws were in stupid decisions by characters and a generally messy plot that left too many strings untied. Alien Covenant was a beacon of hope, not just for the continuation of the Alien franchise under Scott, but as a method of explaining the massive origin story that was laid out in Prometheus. Unfortunately, because it was so poorly received, they've decided in Covenant to sever the head of prometheus (i.e. David) and discard the rest as if it never happened.
All the questions that inspired our imagination have been ignored for the sake of bringing the xenomorph back of screen and rehashing elements of the original Alien to satisfy the list of Alien fans. What is the black goo? Where did it come from? How did the engineers use it? What were their intentions? Why were they returning to destroy humanity? What is their relationship to the xenomorph species they revere enough to make murals of? These are just some of the questions from Prometheus. Now we have more.
Any fan of the Xenomorph creature should feel sorely short changed by this film. Not only did the Neomorph completely outshine the Xenomorph in my opinion, but the Xeno scenes were far too quick and the creatures themselves very easily killed in the grand scheme of things. They weren't shown as the intelligent killers we all know and love, but I understand they are a prototype of sorts. This film reminded me of the latest Star Wars films in that they took the elements of originals (Alien, Aliens, Prometheus) and squashed them all together. Instead of nostalgia I just felt a sense of cheapness and lack of imagination.
After watching every second of the viral marketing in the lead up to this, I actually feel like it made the film worse. It teased a further examination of Shaw and David's time together, it teased a more in depth story of the crew on and off the ship, and it left the xenomorph scenes feeling lighting quick and over too soon. Also, wtf is the deal with seeing from the Xeno's perspective!? Okay, so we know they can see now.Totally unnecessary.
I'm sure I'll regret a few things I've written here but I make no apology. I think all the fans of this channel should crowd fund the next instalment so we can put a story and plot together that leaves us all satisfied.

I wanted to add a possible explanation as to why David kills Shaw. During the movie there are a couple references that David makes about wanting to create life. He's an android, can't procreate the way humans do, and thus cannot parent children with Shaw. So the only way he can create life is to get into some Frankenstein type creations, and using Shaw to create an Alien (he does specifically state he was waiting for another human all this time to continue his experiments) its his way of getting out his sexual frustration as a synthetic man and impregnating her the only way he possibly could.

This was such a bad movie. This is coming from an Alien fan who really liked Prometheus.
    1) What happened to Shaw?
She is killed off and there is no explanation as to how or for what purpose. She's not an Alien Queen. So where did the eggs come from? David uses Shaws ovaries as magic beans to grow them? Ridiculous.
    2) Trailer footage was not in the movie. How stupid.
David repair scene. Xeno bouncing off walls. Crew meeting with Franco.
    3) James Franco dies with zero on screen time. I'm not his biggest fan but why even cast him in the movie if his not even in it???
    4) There is absolutely no information on the engineers. None. It's as if Scott is erasing all trace of their existence.
    5) The black goo isn't explained. David has spent 10 years on the ship with access to Engineer records and can't tell us the original reason for it's creation?
    6) The twist that David is impersonating Walter. What a twist. I mean absolutely nobody saw that one coming..... NOT.
    7) There was no Neo vs Xeno battle. What a missed opportunity.
    8) The biggest sin of all is that the crew touchdown with no helmets, breathing apparatus or pressure suits. Yeah, breath that alien air in with no protection, that's clever.
And that one guy who takes a leak on the planet and flicks is cigarette away. What a bunch of idiots.
    9) The Xenomorph comes out whole but miniature and grows to full size in like 10 minutes.
It mimics David almost as if seeing him as his father but that's all we see of that never to be touched on again. Just like when David is communicating with the Neomorph it's cut short and not touched upon again.
    10) The movie is HEAVILY edited down. It's very clear that much of the film has been left on the cutting room floor. It's as if we're fast forwarding between many scenes. A directors cut better fix this mess. Although Scott didn't bother to do one with Prometheus so he'll probably be just as arrogant again and say what was in theatres was perfect and his intended vision.
Overall id say it's a terrible movie and does a huge disservice to the fans. I have no hope in the next installment. The franchise is pretty much dead to me :'(

  • @riparianlife97701

The thing I had the biggest problem with was the fight between David and Walter. There was no need for Walter to talk to David if he thought the death of David was vital to the survival of his crew. Also, David shouldn't have cut his hair until after he killed Walter.
The best answered question of the film was whether David was being malicious when he poisoned the drink in Prometheus. Yes, he was.

jam626 Prometheus reveals the space jockey was actually a big albino humanoid wearing a mask and a flight suit since most people did not know what the space jockey was when they watched the original Alien film for the first time. That's why Engineers are in Prometheus. You forgot about that dead space jockey in the original Alien film?

Tooth Grinder I don't remember much about the original Alien tbh, but Prometheus got me excited about the engineers background and then nothing was delivered. It was pretty obvious that you arent meant to think that it's 100% confirmed to be David in that final scene... The flute scene is showing that while Walter did not know how to create, David taught him how to play the flute by himself. Were those last few notes he played by himself original? Was that why David was so pleased with it and subsequently disappointed to find out Walter wasn't on his side? There's a possibility that Walter made a split second decision (he's a robot, he can compute things faster than us, imagine having a year to decide how to respond to question in 10 seconds), and decided to side with and/or continue in Davids footsteps. The slash on the right side of his face is another hint that this may be the case. Walter was hitting David with a rock, which would leave a mess on his cheek, whereas what we see is a perfect slice.. A slice from Davids knife (which was in his right hand) perhaps?
Just a Devil's advocate defence of your criticism regarding the obvious plot 'twist' at the end.

So Shaw was killed from David and didn't even get answers from the engineers? Excuse me for a moment...

Just got home from the film and i CANNOT believe how much of this film they spoiled with the trailers and teasers and short films. They literally showed every character death, every plot point and twist and turn and every single major set piece, and more or less how they all conclude as well. The sheer boneheaded incompetence of the marketing for Alien Covenant is absolutely breathtaking.

You mentioned that how did the security personnel get the chestburster inside him so quickly: he didn't. David released the facehugger on him the once they were on board the covenant. (Notice that there is no indication as to the amount of time passed since they have left the planet to the moment when Daniels wakes up). He hid it with the remaining 2 embryos meant for Danny Mcbride's character and Daniels in his throat.

If AVP is part of Alien's canon, David did not create the classic xenomorphs we know (eggs, facehugers, and chestbursters). In AVP 1 the pyramid with classical xenomorphs was over 2000 years old.
    R.Scot messed it all

What are you talking about? He said I saw the devil when I was a kid, or 11 years old, or something like that. What he meant was that he already saw the worst thing he could see and nothing could scare him. He didn't say David was the devil. How the hell did you reach to that conclusion?

I'm guessing David felt that he HAD to kill Elizabeth to further his work. Since he said he did love her, he probably just shut down the cryo pod while she was in it, or killed her in her sleep. I think he made her death as painless as possible because he knew what sort of horriffic experiments he'd have to do to perfect the Xenomorph with her DNA

james francos death was the teams motivation for venturing at the david's planet in the first place. because of that they dont wanna go back to cryo and decided they will look at this planet instead of oregae 6. davids planet will take them weeks while oregae will take them 7 years.

Will Walter return in the next movie?? It's revealed that Walter's update allows him to revive from death after David kills him the first time (those glowing circles on his neck). There is also a scene where David teaches Walter how to play the recorder (used to control the derelict ship), so is it possible that Walter will revive, and control the derelict ship in paradise to find the colonists?? Thoughts?

The guy with the burnt face who has the chest burster after having the face hugger cut off, gags as if something is going down his throat as soon as the face hugger gets on his face. I think they only stay on so that it can protect the embryo and prevent someone from accessing the throat to remove it.

this is about the facehugger implantation process. when the one facehugger got the captain, it got one last "hump" if you will before he went under. later in the movie when the other guy got attacked the facehugger, I think the facehugger did the same thing before it got cut off. maybe that was when the implementation process was complete and the embryo was transferred. idk just my thought

About that facehugger/burnt face mentioned around the 12 minute mark, I understood that it was David who introduced the pathogen when exchanging the patch. The new patch was the enabler to get the 'spores' or which ever parasitic method it was into the system.

In the soundtrack, 'Chest Burster' is perfection.
Naturally, all film viewers attach themselves emotionally into a story or situation by tethering their emotions to that of a character they can relate. In this case, that would typically be the person being killed by the chest burster... But Jed/Ridley truly had a moment of brilliant vision when they constructed this tune for this situation because the tune itself instantly took the fear out of the scene and put all viewers into the mind, not of the person being killed but into the character who set everything in motion. The character was watching his 'child' being born and this piece of music forced all viewers to focus on that and it's beauty, rather than the gore, which one would think couldn't be overmatched. Yet another demonstration of the power of music. Amazing. Surprising. Beautiful.

Oram: David, are we eating extraterrestrial omelet tonight? So many weird-looking eggs here.
David: Of course, Oram. Huh ... could you please place your face 20 cm above that egg?
    Oram: Like this?
David: Yes, thank you ... Are you in any way related to Homer Simpson?

i want to talk about the point you made about one of the security personnel being impregnated in like 2 seconds.
when i saw the movie, what i thought was that david did something while the others were all ready to go to cryosleep, perhaps gave him one of the face huggers he had kept swallowed, to the poor guy while he was unconscious on the med bay, which resulted in the alien being suddenly born.
i might be wrong cause i only got a glimpse of the corpse. i just remember it having its chest burst open.

  • @Flukey_1970

There is talk that the face hugger didn't impregnate the security guy. There is a theory that David did with something, maybe black goo on the dressing he held to his cheek. That would explain how he was infected with the face hugger only attached for a few seconds.
