3:54 actually, my dad who has a degree in linguistics, has been fluent in ubbi dubbi for a long time, and can sing Amazing Grace at a normal speed completely in ubbi dubbi. He's the reason I know about it now 😎
I have found this video seeking how to speak Ubbi Dubbi because something in my brain remembered it from the old kids tv show ZOOM that I watched as a kid on PBSkids. I'm so glad I found this!
is more complicated then in spanish lol Using " F " Hola(hello) -> Ho(fo)la(fa) señora(lady) -> se(fe)ño(fo)ra(fa) como estas(how are you) -> co(fo)mo(fo) es(fe)tas(fa) apenas vine (I just came) -> a(fa)pe(fe)nas(fa) vi(fi)ne(fe) u can replace the "f" with any letter hola -> ho(bo)la(ba)
🤣 right. It Is better in spanish since you are able to hear the vowels better. Lol I learned this "Efe language" when I was young bc my causin wanted to tell me something but we always had little kids around
In argentins we have a similar thing, where we add a P followed by the vowel of the last sylab... So its like... If you say i am hungry (in spanish yo tengo hambre) it is "yopo tepengopo hapambrepe"
Thank you. My kids keep saying they want to create their own language so I wanted to teach them ubbi dubbi but couldn’t remember the exact way to do it!
YES! Come on let's Zoom! My sister and I loved it! She's 26 and I'm 23! I was very young when it was on so I never got the ubbi dubbi down but she did!
Why is is that the instant she says "Zoom," my brains says "Zoom! Z Double O M! Box three five O! Boston, Mass! Oh Two One Three Four! Send it to Zoom!" It's been almost fifty years, so why is this so ingrained in my brain?! Not complaining, though ... I love it. Or should I say Ubi lubbuv Ubbit.
Last night I searched UA-cam for "secret language" videos. I didn't watch this one right away, but UA-cam kept suggesting this one to me. I'm really glad I finally clicked on it. This is the best "secret language" video I've found yet. I really like how you started off demonstrating what the language sounds like - and that you actually know what you're talking about. It's not just intellectual for you. You really can speak it. As you said, it takes practice. Oddly, I had little trouble understanding the ubby dubby in your opening because I too watched Zoom as as kid - although I suspect you were a kid a few years later than I was. I watched zoom in the 70's where Bernadette did her arm trick. I'm glad the later seasons still did the Ubby Dubby. That, the arm trick, and the address where you send your "SASE" are te main things I remember from Zoom. ua-cam.com/video/I3AzdiWHEuc/v-deo.html
@@shundt100 Wow, I did not know you replied to me until I rewatched that Big Bang Theory episode and seeing my comment here... and nope, can't speak it still.
Just saw the "Insheeption" episode of South Park and instantly went back to when Zoom was my favorite part of getting home from elementary school.. Now I'm kinda sad and want to go back.
I like how people instinctively go by how the words are pronounced when constructing this language, and not by orthography. There are no silent vowels in "bike", it is one syllable and the nucleus is a diphthong, meaning a vowel that changes quality.
my mom spoke this language.. but she spoke it differently she called it "IB" because you take the letter i and b and it sounds like "eye b" so a hard i and then the low B sound like in "but" and you pit it before ever sounding vowel so all the vowel sounds you can hear in a word you the"Ib" before for it so the word dog is "dibog" and the word youtube is yoibutibube and the word subscribe is sibubscribibe i speak it now too and i can sing in it so yeah its rather cool
John M you would still put the Ub before the vowels so it would be Ub-I, Ub-or, Ub-it's, Ub-it. Make sure you accent the Ub ... it will make it sound more like a foreign language and harder for people to understand. 😊 good luck!
We too as kids made our own language - we just reversed the spellings of words. I'm not sure you can do that in English as well, because English is phonetically inconsisten to the point it's almost satirical.
My brother taught me alfalfa when I was a kid. You just put LF after each vowel then say the actual vowel and go on with the word. VISIT is VILFI SILFIT. DOG is DOLFOG. It gets funny when you have to say words like DUCK.... DULFUCK. I can chatter away in Alfalfa but I can't understand it. My brother and his friends could and they had whole conversations in it.
Oli Su'a haha! That’s a good one. In this case The Y would be the vowel so it would be rhubythubm for the word Rhythm. So really it’s Ub before the Y and before the M because there are two sounding syllables even tho there is only one vowel. Haha that sounds so confusing. Also, sorry if that was just a rhetorical question lol 😆
It's easy to speak Ong too! You just put ong after every consonant. If I were to say hi, I would say hong I because you just say the vowel by itself. Let's say Subscribe! Song u bong song cong rong I bong e!
Oh it’s just like gibberish but instead of saying idig, you say ub. This shouldn’t be that hard since I speak gibberish... and pig Latin....and sometimes say stuff in phonetically words. I want to learn a lot of secret languages 😅
Ooo this is a tricky one . first, I’m going to write it phonetically like I would pronounce it... Beeubootubifubull So I would write it like bea(ub)ut(ub)if(ub)ul . So even tho there are three vowels in a row in the beginning... you only pronounce the “ub” before the first “u” in the word because it’s the first syllable pronounced. I hope this isn’t too confusing 🥴
I watched Zoom in the early 1970's and could never figure out how to speak "Ubby Dubby." Is this really what Mush Mouth was speaking on Fat Albert? It sounds very different spoken quickly versus slowly.
I understand this cuz my grandma where she come from when they were younger they spoke it and evry day m and mys ister spak it so fast nio one understands my mom tlls m and my istser to shut up and we be cussing in ubbi dubbi haha
Ia ustje ademi ao ewnu anguagela :) You put the first letter of the word to the end then add the first letter of the vowel system: a e i o u A is first so you put it at the end. But, it has to be the first word in the sentence: ex. Oranges are good = Rangesoa
Unfortunately I don’t :( I had a chance to be bilingual since my dad speaks Swiss German (an Amish language) but he was afraid that would set us back with our English when we started school. Maybe my strong desire to be bilingual led to this 😊

We have same thing in Persian it called Zargari maybe because it used by zar(gold) sellers. They add ze for every voual.
In argentins we have a similar thing, where we add a P followed by the vowel of the last sylab... So its like... If you say i am hungry (in spanish yo tengo hambre) it is "yopo tepengopo hapambrepe"
