Farm to Feet has great service! I have had 2 pairs replaces. Both times I sent them a picture of the sock with a hole in it, and they sent me a new pair in less than a week. My steel toe work boots wore holes in them, never worn them out hiking or running.

Good to know, I’ve been wearing F2F quite a while but wasn’t aware of the guarantee so I’d been babying them compared to my DTs but now I won’t anymore. I went to the local gear shop today to get two pair (Damascus/everyday Eugene) and they had one lil tiny display, but a whole wall of DT & smartwools smh

How not to give this tip once againg... If someone would give me this one 7 years ago when I started working as a dog walker I would appreciate it...
And that one is to wear a pair of long heavy duty footbal/rugby/hokey polyester socks over the wool or cotton ones...
    1. It enlarges the lifetime of first sock and the inner side of the shoes.
    2. Has a better performance when they are soaked and wheat in rain, snow or if you cross the river without takeing off the shoes.
    3. Provides cushioning, warmth to the ankles, cleaningness and protection till the knees, and they can became in gaiters if you are in a pinch...
    4. Usefull as pouches and bath glove "sponges" (and at the same time they get cleaned too)
    5. Prevents blisters for solving the friction between the shoe and the skin.
PD: Sorry for being tedious but all this tips worked for me. SO... there must be someone somewhere that will appreciate it. Cheers. God bless...

The Injinji's also absorb and wick moisture between your toes, which is pretty significant. They make liner socks that work really well under your favorite hiking socks without adding much bulk, and I've noticed the hiking socks seem to take less wear and tear with liners.

The compression of the Farm to Feet is awesome. Wore them for half of my AT thru and love them. I don't care as much about the return policy as I don't mind paying for more socks if they provide a comparable benefit to price ratio. Both Darn Tough and Farm to Feet have easily met that ratio every time.

My wife then wanted to buy me some more Darn Tough pairs as a gift...she noticed they were a dollar cheaper a pair on Amazon, so she bought them there. These were way more comfortable & they did wear decently actually...finally holes in 2 pairs of the ones we bought on Amazon...sent them into Darn Tough...they gave us credit toward new socks but told us the comfy pairs we bought on Amazon were all counterfeit Darn Tough socks & they were working with Amazon on the issue....

Love Farm to Feet...4.5 years using them so far and no need to replace. *BUT* as a Florida resident and frequent hiker on the Florida Trail, my favorite here is the Darn Tough Coolmax (same guarantee) for their ability to dry out fast. The padding location on the Farm to Feet just seems better to me, but they don't offer a coolmax version. Any of the Damascus models are great (many with different names like the trail badge series are just variations of the Damascus).

recently tried icebreakers and really enjoy the fact that they don't constrict after you've washed them a couple times. Plus the size XL is a little more generous. The elastic at the top of the crew socks doesn't cut into your calves either.

  • @bossalou

I have yet to have my Farm to Feet wear out on me. It was a random grab at REI (they were on sale) when I needed wool socks for curling to keep my feet warm out on the ice. They were really cute looking crew socks. I've had them for a few years now and haven't had any wear out. I find the Farm the Feet that I have feel scratchier to me, but maybe the more current styles are softer. I do have a couple pairs of Darn Toughs that I purchased I couple years ago and they are starting to wear thin in places now. I find the Darn Tough socks softer and more comfortable. The Farm to Feet seem to be outlasting the Darn Toughs. Both brands keep my feet equally warm and dry whether I'm hiking or curling.

Darn Tough has replaced two pair of socks for me. I have had hammer toes for years, and a couple of years ago I broke one of those toes. I found that toe to be extra sensitive on the top of the knuckle now. I bought a pair of Smartwool socks since then and find that they don't irritate that knuckle anywhere near as much as the Darn Tough socks do. I am pretty sure that Darn Tough relies heavily on a high number of nylon threads in the worst wear areas, and nylon can be very irritating in socks if there is too much of it, or the threads are coarse, against delicate skin.
For now, I will tape my toe knuckle and wear Injinji liner socks. Seems to work.
Thanks again! I will def. try a pair of Farm to Feet socks!👍

2014 AT Thru Hike providing road support for my son -- Darn Toughs got a hole in them (were 4+ years old when AT started). Walked into Rockfish Gap Outfitters in Waynesboro, VA. Dude took one look at them, picked them up using a shopping bag as a glove (yeah, they were N-A-S-T-Y despite creek-washing/sun-drying every 3-4 days), and said "Go pick out a new pair." I love Farm to Feet! I agree with your opinion that they feel a bit more flexible than Darn Toughs but there is a drawback. I have worn holes in at least a half dozen pairs and I have NEVER worn a hole in a Darn Tough.
I only recently found out they they had a lifetime warranty and I threw them out so I may continue to use them in the future.
The good news is that they get along just fine with the Darn Toughs in my sock drawer!

Hey Dixie. Florida hiker here. I use Darn Tough's 1/4 cushion and Altra Lonepeak 4.0 shoes. Never had a blister, even hiking through extremely wet conditions with that setup.

Might want to try the chain mail socks for the Florida trail. A little heavy, but at least the gators won’t take off any of your toes.

Switch to them three years ago at Damcaus trail days have one of the pairs but lost the other... I suspect the dryer ate them but no holes yet in the one pair

Definitely agree that injinji are fantastic. I’m using Smartwool and darn tough right now. Off to google if I can get hold of farm to feet in the UK 😃 Thanks for another great video Dixie! Karen 😊

I got a pair of farm to feet last summer. They seem nice, but I haven’t used them a whole lot, maybe for 40 miles. They’re the low cut socks and I like my ankles to be covered, so I’ve been wearing my slightly higher darn toughs more. My local store had limited options. The price was pretty good, though. They were less than the darn toughs.

I have both Darn Tough and Farm to Feet and switch between them. Love both. Good to know about the Farm to Feet guarantee. Thanks Dixie

I’ve used Fitsok, Smartwool, and Darn Tough. I’m wearing my DT’s right now. The others are relegated to laundry day.

I live down here in Florida, I'm diabetic(foot blisters are a big concern) and I love the Injinji! They don't hold up as well as I'd like, probably wont for you either, down here, vs the AT. But man what a foot saver. I definately look forward to hearing your results down here on the Florida Trail. Love your videos, and the info you put out.

Since you like to slip your feet into your shoes, take a look at Lock Laces elastic laces. I love them and I haven't tied a shoelace in over three years on my Merrill's. One you get just the right level of tension, they are very comfortable and adjust to your feet swelling and shrinking which can reduce friction.

With washing and wearing all socks get stiffer and loose cushioning. If you add vinegar to your rinse or wash water it will bring the ph to the right level for wool. Thank you for another great video, safe travels.

To prevent blisters you need any high quality TIGHT FITTING sock and that pretty much means not too thick of a sock. The reason they need to be tight is so the sock absolutely will not move while you walk. If it moves even a little you will get a blister. The whole point is that the shoe rubs against your sock and not against your skin. Wet socks expand and start moving and rubbing against your skin in addition to your skin getting waterlogged. I dont buy Darn Tough just for a the warranty but because they fit tight and I never get blisters. wear the tightest sock you can and wear loose ones sleeping if you like to wear socks to bed. (I dont)

Have you tried the Bear Proof socks. Been wearing them for a couple of years albeit not any thru hikes, but great comfort and durability.
