the way this anime handles its characters is so good. nothing feels forced, no unnecessary romance, and the female characters are very likeable and believable. it's just an all around good anime

Though I agree it also has badass female characters, but bcs I don’t watch it it’s not the first thing that came up into my mind. (Maybe bcs my first impression of the story/characters/etc is not that good.. Like how Eren is so annoying and how Mikasa’s entire lines are only « Eren.. », but I’ve seen stuff from the new season and ppl say it has the best characters improvement so I believe them).

It's what adds to the enjoyment of the characters of jjk...the female characters arent there as love interests or as fan service etc...they are genuinely enjoyable characters who are actually very useful

Itadori is probably the best shonen MC of recent time. Down to earth, not a drama queen nor a pussy. All the characters are just so fun
The best shonen MC is definitely gon from hunter x hunter, because his character is very complex, and as a viewer you can interpret his character in your own way

For how innocent and childish Gon comes off as, he didn’t even react to his first kill with the Armadillo chimera, which you’d expect from a character like him
There was also the speech in that restaurant with the guy who sold counterfeits, and he was all like “that kind of mindset is dangerous” because Gon was more fixated on his interests instead of doing what’s morally right
And I know the creator mentioned something about Gon leaving his caring aunt to find his negligent father which I think he said was problematic
I do think that Gon killing Pitou was justified since she killed the only person that was close to his father without any regret. I mean she was more concerned about escaping and her own safety.

jjk along with aot have some of the strongest women. i especially loved episode 17 because im tired of the cliche "oh i need to be saved by the main character" or the over dramatic feminist character who has to remind the audience that women are powerful. as a girl, i loved both momo and nobara's speech as well as maki and mai's characters. Nobara's speech was so cool, how she doesnt give a shit about society's expectations because she dresses up for herself and is strong for herself. it's realistic and much more inspiring than many of the other shounen girls.
Megumi is my favorite character. He's got a really cool background that is expanded on in the manga. I can't wait for the movie and new season if it comes out.

"there's nothing I dislike about Jujutsu Kaisen at all" my thoughts exactly. There are very few anime where I have absolutely nothing to complain about, and this is one of them. Now, that in itself isn't a guarantee of an amazing show. A show can have zero weaknesses without having any incredible strengths and there are shows I like more than JJK which I do have one or two complaints about. But combine that with a cast of fun characters and absolutely amazing action and this is one of the best shounen I've seen. Almost certainly the strongest initial 25 episodes of any shounen I've ever seen, at the very least. Most other good shounen, even if they have a strong hook, take some time to really hit their stride while JJK is swinging hard right out of the gate.
and it'll keep going, in fact, it'll only keep hitting harder.
It's insane how Mappa carried so many shows, and they're still continuing to do more

I think Jujutsu Kaisen did reinvent Shonen because it kinda always subverts Shonen tropes. Todo isn't the big strong idiot who gets easily beat by our skinny overpowered MC. Todo is legit a strong and a pretty smart character. Plus other things like how Gojo is the overpowered character and he isn't the main character. Or the relationship between Yuji and Sukuna isn't similar to other Shonen. Like I genuinely believe it subverts Shonen tropes like pretty well.
I think Jojo or HxH are the one who reinvent those tropes. I didn't mean that JJK is bad, JJK is one my favorite anime but it didn't reinvent those tropes. More like JJK took what's great about all the past shonen and then excecuted it to it's best.

now that season 2 is almost over, i think i can say that it got even better. every episode is either the most beautifully choreographed and animated fight since gaara v rock lee or its a slow and emotional episode. this show really is the best shonen has.

The story cannot survive with gojo. He's a cool character but he ruins the series and here's why. The entire character of gojo is a safety net for the series. Villains become to strong, here's gojo to save the day. Main characters and other characters have no need to grow. (spoiler) in the manga he actually gets sealed because the creator obviously realised he can tkeep throwing gojo to every threat and winning.

@@jackmager2992 I agree. Personally I believe It has the same fault that boruto has, where they introduce weak(er) characters when already established and powerful characters exist in the world. It's not entirely a bad thing.but I can see them wanting to try and rush things slightly in order to establish the animes world building.
Don't want to spoil it for you but it's very intelligent how the story deals with him.
The villains know well how OP he is and find ways to plan around it.
Most writers would find ways to retcon or power creep him but I just love the consistent and flawless way Jujutsu's author handles it.
Definitely one of the best adaptations I've seen, especially for a shonen. Mappa has been killing it and I'm legitimately sad that season 1 has ended.

and can we talk about how wholesome Yuuji is? He's like the friend that everyone wants to have. Plus they're are all smoking hot and there was not a single scene throughout the anime intended for fanservice, it's all just in their characterization. Very well done.
No filler, great development. Itadori’s a laid back and just really cool character, probably one of my favorite in any media. He’s far more grounded in personality than most anime protagonists.

Not necessarily "genre-changing" but I really enjoy how there's no forced and awkward romance, and no fan service for once. Nobara and Maki are strong cool characters who get just as much love and development as their male counterparts. Like, I'm shocked I don't hate them like a lot of woman characters in shounen.
Fr, I love the line from nobara that goes along the lines of “I love myself when I’m dressed up and feel pretty, and I love myself when I feel strong.” I feel it’s a super compelling line that really makes her feel like a real person, she doesn’t care about proving her hotness to a forced male crush.

She's so unapologetically female without it being overdone and annoying, without being love/boy obsessed, and without portraying her as weak. She's really a great character.

I feel like the romance tropes we usually see inserted into these Shounen are just excuses for filler bullshit. Excess stuff that gives it more run time, but usually detracts from everything that's interesting about the show. Jujutsu Kaisen hasn't had this problem yet, and I hope it never does.

The last fight in the last episode was like a profesional AMV, the way they synced it with that bad ass music was really cool
Funniest thing is that the narrative actually gets insanely complex and is sooo well written that it overshadows most of the fights. But that is not shown yet in the anime.
Even the narrative with junpei was complex and well written
the exposition dumps annoyed me at times, but otherwise great. not my favorite shounen tho.

people getting into anime nowadays are so lucky im jealous of you guys, pretty much every shonen anime invalidates the manga cause of how amazing the adaptation is but weeaboomers like me had to deal with 30 weeks of Naruto filler before we were given 1 episode of canon
I still never finished shippuden because of the fillers. Was just so damn annoying. Literally just replayed the same flashback scenes over and over and over.
i'm a shippuden war veteran. the effects are still there, i can't watch more than a season of an anime without getting burnt out because i was a dumb child and sat through the fillers.

jujutsu kaisen isn't innovative in the sense that it takes everything good about the shounen genre and does all of it the best way. it's like a love letter to the genre, and takes it one step further by having the ending be pre-planned.
