What do you think about this car? Let me know! If someone buys it for 50k and puts a 25k rs chassis under it, spends 25k on fiberglass, and 10k on the cage. You would have a nice Restomod project ready to go for 110k. It’s big money but that’s not far off of the going rate.
Thanks for watching! I agree I think the sellers did a great job photographing the car because I’m on the other side of the country and I can pretty easily read the car. So hopefully it helps someone
As a body man and sheet metal fabricator I would say having a jig and a decent car to take reference from would be the only way most people could do that project successfully. Definitely a project for a skilled craftsman that has access to those resources
Very interesting, this place is a few miles from my house, any I have two SWC’s. One is 340hp with power brakes and I got it to Top Flight at NCRS a few years ago (a 95 point car) that I bought for 18k in 1980, and the other one is 300hp but has been “California mods” from 1970? With slight flares, and 3 tail lights etc. my plan is to restomod it. Bought it more recently. But for now working on other cars. Thank you Mitch for your channel and info, and your prospective. George.
Thanks for watching. That’s cool that you are right by the dealership! It sounds like you have a good pair of split windows. That’s awesome thanks for sharing!
It's up to 38,100$ now at 1:20 saturday afternoon.Mitch you would have to pay me to take this car .I've always said , especially at auctions , some people have so much money it does not matter, liked the video ,this work is not for an old man who is a hobbiest .
I dont think a lot of people understand the difference between a restored car. And a car that is build from a small collection of useable parts This Corvette would have to be build by a shop that has done alot of these cars and has a lot of experience. The customer would have to understand they would be replacing 98% of what they started with ,on day one . but in the end it could sell for a half a Millon dollars ? on a investment of 2 years of time and 120.000 $$ I would like to see a fallow up video down the road ....
It's only worth fixing if it has the higher horsepower engine and 4-speed transmission. If it is a base engine with a powerglide, it's not worth the effort.
It’s hard to say if it even has the original engine. The engine was decked at some point and it has a 3 speed in it currently. It’s going to get Restomoded if it comes back to life.
I seen a few of these cars for sale. Over the years. Like myself I just would not touch something this big of a problem project. Unless it has sentimental value. But hey someone may. Do a resto mod. Or something I guess. .. I rather keep my money in the Pockets myself. Kinda looks like the one that was in west Auckland. Years ago. It sat around for like 20 plus years in a shed in a old chicken farm. Kinda looks like same one.
No I would not touch that car, unless I just wanted the body. I was going to say 45K. My guess is it will return as a drag racer. Or the new owner will see this video and say, "oh crap what have I done"? It's going to take a lot of effort. Best of luck to the new owner, I hope they don't give up.
I hate to say it, But at $29,000 I have bought real Corvettes in rough shape, 2007 Z06 for one. There are some much better Corvettes to spend that money on. Dennis
You can definitely buy a lot more car for less but it’s all about what you want. Some people really want a split window and they will do whatever they can to get one. This car will come back as a Restomod and will hit the auctions and bring over 300k
$35K now... That is insanity! Wouldn't touch that car. Not too much there that you couldn't buy in better condition for that kind of money. The VIN and body tag is worth more than the entire car.

I hope this doesn't become someone's nightmare who didn't see this video.A lot of lessons here ,Thanks Mitch.

@MidYearMitch yes we have to give that for not trying to hide the issues

@@MidYearMitch As for what it will sale for, my guess is 45k.

NOW 4100$
$41100
It keeps going! Where it stops no one knows
I disagree, look at the nice job Glazes Geezer Garage is doing to his car that has needed major work...
This is a rough one Mitch! A lot worse than mine when I started. They will probably come to you when they win the bid.
That would be cool to watch.
The top bid might go down if they watch your video.
Well played. I’m curious to see what it does. It’s up to 30 right now. So we will see what it does.
Low five figures for a C2 with issues. No thank you. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for watching! It’s going to need a pile of work.
@@MidYearMitch Pile is the key word. Couldn't have said it better myself.
My opinion is this car is a parts car at best with very few usable parts
She’s definitely ruff!

That car is selling for the VIN plate and title to become a restomod.
Pretty much! Vettes are strange cars because the body looks like it’s decent but it’s hollow inside when they rust out like that.

I guess we know why that car never got finished. Might work for someone who has a SWC which lost its VIN and title. Expensive piece of paper.

Someone who doesn’t care about the money can get it back on the road.
Good point! There are plenty that fall into that category.
Dreams cost a lot of money sometimes
How to turn a large fortune into a small one? Start with this car.
Too much money and too much work. The metal is gone for all.practical.purposes. Even the fiberglas is no longer original.
It’s a lot of work that’s for sure. I’m curious to see what happens to the car.
It is worth nothing unless you do it for the love of the car or think you can profit from sweat equity. A tribute race machine?
That car is being held together by the fiberglass. Would not touch that car with a 100' pole! Not for the money its going for.
