Welcome to my UA-cam channel. I am a mechanical engineer by trait but I am passionate about classic cars. I wanted to structure this channel around classic Corvettes because I wanted to share my projects with other enthusiasts. My love for Corvettes started with the restoration of my dads 1965 Corvette that he got in high school. That car taught me a lot about restorations. It also helped us get the 1963 Split Window because Frank liked that it would be a father son project. That car has been off the road since 1981 and 90% of the components were missing we only got the body, frame, and drivetrain.
Now I am helping work on a 1960 Corvette that was also owned by our friend Frank who owned the 1963 vette. I’m excited to share these projects and any other cars that come my way.

Mechanical Engineers have to stick together! You find the balance you need, keep it fun and keep learning. I am past doing a build, so enjoy watching and learning about the C2, my fav Corvette.
Thanks for the fiberglass tips, Mitch! Always good to get smarter!!! lol Fun video! A+++++
I enjoyed your c3 video
fixing holes brought back a lot of memories working on my then60.
Having a lazy driver’s side light would drive me crazy. I’d be fixing that.
Envious ...ended up in a wheelchair from the "Safe & Effective"...........
That looks like fun. One of my compartments behind the seats has a small hole, I think now I know how to fix it. Thank you.
Good stuff, Mitch. I have a hole about the size of a quarter to fix. Not sure if the same procedure would apply. It's not completely hollow. Like if you jammed a big screwdriver through a panel and pulled it out. Any thoughts? Thanks. @Corvette-Dan
Hey there Mitch, Wow, I just learned more about working with fiberglass patches than ever before. Good video! Take care, Dan
Nice!! Thank you!!!
Great tips! Thanks. The parchment paper was new to me.
Thanks Mitch. I like the tint tip.
Thank Mitch. Like the tint tip.
Great video Mitch!..can you tell me a bit more about tinting the resin? Is it just regular automotive paint you added?
Good question! No it is not paint. It’s special dye specially formulated for fiberglass resin. It’s from fibreglast. I’ll put the link below. It will stain anything it touches lol. I mix it in before I mix in my hardener. I use white and a touch of black. Yellow might also help tint to get C1 colors. www.fibreglast.com/collections/pigments
@@MidYearMitch Thanks!
Good tips Mitch. Best of all they’ll work equally well on my C3.
I woodworking, this is called a scarf joint! Well done!
Super clean nice work 👍 . The factory did it the same way with the welder hanging it from the roof.
Congrats on your work truck!🎉
I appreciate it, it’s going to be a fun project.
@MidYearMitch Absolutely! I have the same idea to make a 1965 LCF to transport my '65 Vette to car shows when I finish it. I'm envious of you for being that much more ahead of me.😁
Thank you for your honesty....
Just recently from watching another UA-camr found out about the Bird-Cage. But you are the first I found to actually show a stripped chassis and bird cage. Also cool seeing you rebuild the chassis and bc. Where do you find the stamped steel rails you used to repair the bc ? Also have you considered doing a digital scan of a stripped chassis and bc ? Saw where Cletus did that with Leroy in order to have a molded fiberglass skin made.
Cool truck
Can't wait to see working on the cab-over.
Thanks I’m excited too!
I wonder how the vin tag would be handled in a swap like this. It’s a cool, albeit ambitious, build.
LOOKS GOOD
Hey there Mitch, I think that's going to look fantastic ... all on a good stout 1-ton chassis. Real nice! You should get your team of mechanics and body folks started right away! Take care, Dan
Cold kills batteries that’s why mine is on a trickle charger. Just sayin.
You’re gonna need to clone yourself. Tooooo many projects 🧐 you go for it 👍
Haha that’s true! I like to keep busy.
Bumps and bruses on a work truck are just signs that it is being used properly. You have a great plan for it, i have just one tiny request. Air horns! Gotta make it sound like a locomotive from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Best of luck on this project it's gonna be a fun one.
I’ve got a similar 1999 Ford F350 truck that’s my shop and towing workhorse. I don’t know what I’d do without a flatbed truck in my life. I picked up a nearly identical 2000 F450 model that I’ll be building a ramp bed onto. Its frame was already stretched 60” before I bought it. I‘ve done all the paint and body work it needed but, I really like the idea of adding the COE cab. Too late for mine, but that’s gonna be sweet. Check out Karl Fisher’s channel Make It Kustom. He did a whole series about building his later model COE ramp truck.
Love your COE, I think your vision is spot on. I've seen some really over the top ones at Barrett. Totally agree on new trucks. Outrages prices, beds are too tall and many issues with electronics and some transmissions. Did you check out that '65 big tank fuelie with 86 actual miles at Mecum Kissimmee?
One tip: When using a circular saw, I suggest you hold on to the source lumber and let the target piece (usually shorter) fall. You will minimize the potential of saw kickback, especially if the source lumber is supported well on the sawhorse. Disregard if you are a house framer, they use screw type saws, and those guys are crazy.
Yup floor mats increase the value 😂
Haha that’s right!
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Its always interesting to me to hear as a european 327 5.3Litre engine described as "little" I have never owned a car with a engine bigger that 1.8L 109Ci, and have owned several 52ci engined cars. A 3L engine car in euro is seen as huge! You had better get some low gears in that build or you will be doing over 100mph on 2nd gear to ever see 7500rpms on the street. Have fun!
Doesn’t grinding the fiberglass in shorts eat you up ? It itches me like crazy ! Just watching you makes me ITCH . 😂
O man great job 👏 👍 I would love that car with all the body in that amazing patina 🔥💎🔥💎🔥💎
Remember Mitch, less is MORE - and as you are, keep it simple and small so that you can maintain balance! 😉👍🏻
You're the best! Whatever you feel you need to do, you should do it in order to simplify your life and not get overwhelmed!
Great video. Be well. Balance is key.
An old motor home chassis makes a good foundation. They can be found for a reasonable price.
Nice cab ! Always liked cab overs. This one is my age. 😊
Mitch, people can be jackasses. And those types of people rarely get or respond to a post like this. All you can do is put it out there, and do what YOU want to do. I saw you at the last Carlisle checking out my friends '63 survivor roadster. I was going to say hi, but you had a bunch of people around..so maybe this year. Carlisle is a great event, but it's also a place where certain types like to prove how much they "know"...at first, I got annoyed, but now I laugh, and if they persist, I send them on their way verbally, if you get my drift.... anyway, love your content and keep doing what makes YOU happy.
Excellent video Mitch. I have a question, I’m assuming we’re within tolerance with the thickness of the powder coat on the bird cage I powder coat some of my vintage gas pumps and the thickness gets challenging, I’m guesstimating generally the thickness is around 1/16th of an inch maybe a little more. Do you have issues regarding this?
nice work
Great video Mitch. I don’t have a C2 but good techniques for any restoration work. Looking forward to your future projects.
Another great birdcage repair Mitch! You make it look easy. It looks like your Facebook groups are taking off nicely. Take care of yourself and your family.
Genius or artist? Can't decide.
First and last request for you, take care of yourself and your family. You've already done SO much more for the C2 community than all of your critics combined. Live your best life my friend, and if you find time to create some more content down the road, great. If not, thank you very much for what you've already done.
That was very informative. After reading comments from the last video there is no question that people respect you for your straight forward honesty, knowledge, and unselfish willingness to share. I think your shop truck project is gonna get alot of attention. Hope you have as much fun building it as we will watching it built.
Nice, i wonder if it would have done better with AFR 195 heads? Love hearing those 327s sing!
Hey there Mitch, Yup, pretty well done! The "shop truck" is going to be a blast. Let's GOOO! Take care, Dan
Great work and a great save. Looking forward to the rest of the build. Happy New Year.
