    Mitch it was pleasure for my son and I to meet you Thursday at Carlisle. We have been doing Vetts for a long time. Fortunately we have been able to source bodys with better starting points than you show on your channel. It is great fun to watch your rebuilds. I would definitely go with a 56-57 Corvette Body. Put a lower seat with a longer set back with tilt wheel Roadster Shop frame and go.

    Dynamic Corvette built a local guy's Corvette which is how I found out about them. I think your channel was suggested because of his. I'll check out the other channels. Many of the channels here are better than what we get on TV and we can help each other to get our projects on the road.

      I sprayed it down with a little WD40. I prefer to leave them raw to display them. It shows all the welds and the true quality of the work. I had a lot of people that were excited to see it bare. It also didn’t rain so it worked out. And I didn’t have any time to take it apart, paint it, and put it back together.

      Things that don't change get lost in the dustbin of history. Don't get me wrong, the C1 and C2 generations are my favorites by far, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the performance of later generations. I have a C5 I've put well over 100k miles on. When you fixate on the past, it prevents you from appreciating the present.

    • @ltdees2362

    • @JustSomeJoe-dp5rp
      @JustSomeJoe-dp5rp 2 дні тому

      @@ltdees2362 Haha, no need to be jealous, C5's are a dime a dozen at this point! They get surprisingly good gas mileage (for a sports car), the LS is pretty much bulletproof and personally, I think they still look relatively "modern", where the C4 definitely looks like a child of the '80s. But no question, I'd trade mine for even a basket case C2 in a hot second!

    Hey Mitch great video, I was wondering if there was a process you use when taking the doors off in order to get them back on exactly where they were? Some folks drill a small hole in the hinges, or scribe them… I’m doing this by myself, so watching you gives me ambition just looking for a better way! Thank for your videos!

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch 7 днів тому

      Thanks for watching and good question. At this stage of a build I don’t make any type of mark. The reason for that is these doors are empty shells without glass, regulators, or door panels. When the doors are loaded they will have to be lifted up a little bit more. If you are in final bodywork and you have done your mock-up then you could drill your holes. When I line up doors I normally put a couple wooden wedges between the door and the rocker and tap them in with a dead blow hammer. I’ll tighten the bolts and see where I’m at and continue to make small adjustments. The wooden blocks hold the door where it needs to be and it allows you to make small adjustments.

    Great video; I might add that if you are replacing plug wires, you can slide the plug head off of the new wires for plugs 1 and 3 nd 2 and 4 and then tape the new wires to the old wires, pulling them through the motor mounts easily. I just did all of my wires in under an hour, even though I thought it would take much longer.
