Pino!! Not Entwisle, but a force to be reckoned with in his own right... Listen to those notes he plays, hit you right in the gut... And Zack!! Wonderful player, best replacement for Kieth!!!
Yes, missing John BUT... Pino is one he'll of a player... Modulates his sound much better than Entwistle... Doesn't over play to loudly a Entwistle did, which affects the song, affect Dairy singing-- if he can't hear himself, he can't sing on pitch... Pino plays for the song much better than John... And that's talking as a bass player who really loves what John brought to the table... I practiced to Entwistle A LOT! Buy, if you listen to this rhythm section now, they are really solid, and lay the foundation for the song, rest of the band... And that takes nothing away from Keith n John... This displayed a maturity of the Who... And I LOVED them back when! But, as I have matured in my playing -- note selection and volume -- I appreciate what I am seeing here!!!
It's hard to replace to players as dynamic as Keith and John from a band like this. John thick distorted bass is missed and no one could ever play like Keith when he was in top form but Zak really has the spirit of Keith in his blood and comes as close as anyone could really ever ask. Today The Who are a bit like dracula with out a bottom row of teeth.
@GiantPandas Uh, what? The keyboard part is a recording, something Pete made in the studio that's pretty hard to replicate live without the right equipment (Google "baba o'riley lowrey organ marimba repeat" or look for vids of people here on UA-cam trying to replicate it). Entwistle played only the bass part.
@CHartsuiker you got to think pete n roger r fuckn in their 60's they do fuckn well course he cant hold the notes as long he not in his 30s lol but i think its awsome they still playn
Pino is a great player, but it doesn't sound the same as Entwistle's distorted, flangey, chorusy tone with Rotosound roundwounds. Pino uses flatwounds and barely any effects...doesn't sound the same.
Yes, Pino is a great musician but obviously he doesn't have the same sound as Entwistle, but they are two different style and sound bass players. I don't know why the Who chose Pino....
Yes, we can never replace Keith and John. But this line up is good. Even Pete and Roger are not what they used to be. As an ex-bass player, I never really liked John Entwistles style, he was fast and made a lot of noise to fill them out as a three piece. But he never played any god riffs or a good dance beat.
Everyone has their opinion, but I couldn’t disagree more, John definitely played a lot of flash, but he had incredible riffs by the ton. When I saw them do Tommy and Quadrophenia years ago live, it was the greatest thing ever, particularly in Quadrophenia. Another great example would be Dreaming from the Waist, but again, each to his own.
Meh...completely underwhelmed with Zac Starkeys drumming. Simon Phillips smokes Zac. So did Keith of course. I even like Ringos drumming better than Zac's.
Townshend and Daltrey one of
-British rock'n'roll's true survivors.
Not many left in this world of music.
🔊🔊🔊🔊👍👍👍👍👏👏🎸🎸🔚
The one and only WHO!!! British Legends 👍
Even at half strength the best band in the world. Zak is just tremendous.
Zak's a brilliant drummer
"It's only teenage wasteland" lyrics that make you think, Townshend you genius
the end of this song is just the best musical run of all time. imho of course.
what an amazing live performance. Thank you for uploading Tone Leics
this is what legends look like.
PETE TOWNSHEND is The MAN!! Long Live Pete!!!!!!
A true rock band, Ringo's son on drums. How cool is that.
Too cool for words But first you need to know who Ringo is
And no he’s not just the voice over man for Thomas the tank engine
Roger Daltrey has the best voice of any rock front man without even considering the rest of his brilliant stage presence.
Nic Hallam stupidity at its finest. Let’s not ever comment again until you learn music
Ive heard scores of live versions of BO'R snd this one is top 5 easily. Roger SMOKIN' the harmonica!
Who cares about age, passing years and stuff like that when Pete starts to rotate his arm again?
Wow!
Nail that groove down, Pino!!!
I could really see Ringo in Zak in this vid.
Pino!!
Not Entwisle, but a force to be reckoned with in his own right...
Listen to those notes he plays, hit you right in the gut...
And Zack!!
Wonderful player, best replacement for Kieth!!!
He so much like daddy ringo (drummer)
AMAZING !!
john did the piano part and bass at the same time.watch the who baba o'riley live 1978
Wow
Two old men, making some fcking Noise!! Drummer was great.
So do I, I'm quite an "Ox" fan, but i've never seen him perform that...but I would like to.
Looks more like a videoclip than a presentation ;)
Dear oh dear.
Thank god Zak filled in with a heavy sound till Pete kicked in, they really are missing John !!
Yes, missing John
BUT... Pino is one he'll of a player...

I should say fits his volume -- his playing-- into the mix better, not modulates sound, that implies something much different
Sorry for that...

That is true the best replacement I have heard by a mile,
i have it on my ipod of him playing it with just the bass i like it more than the piano
an old comment on an old video
Pino is an amazing bass player no doubt. But John's sound and style are sorely missed.
buzzcrushtrendkill i am a massive entwistle fan but i love pino's work here
Best I have heard to take John´s place,,

Who makes music like this anymore
Pete, take the f**king shades off. You're cool enough.
Would love to John Popper do that harmonica solo. Understand I’m not dissing Roger in any way!
@GiantPandas that's a massive sound.
@GiantPandas yes,but pino is also great..
Nobody ever asked BB King or Muddy Waters when they were going to stop I get a kick out of that B.S.1
@GiantPandas Lol "ok".
@CHartsuiker you got to think pete n roger r fuckn in their 60's they do fuckn well course he cant hold the notes as long he not in his 30s lol but i think its awsome they still playn
It's not the Oo without Keith and John. But keep making that miney.
cool as fook pete ;)
@GiantPandas video proof please. Not that I mistrust you, I wanna see the awesomeness.
@GUIDOKILLER1 (backstage at the who concert) Pete: hey man pass the lipitor i need a fix. LOL!!!!!
Pino is a great player, but it doesn't sound the same as Entwistle's distorted, flangey, chorusy tone with Rotosound roundwounds. Pino uses flatwounds and barely any effects...doesn't sound the same.

Where’s the book?
Not suprised he's got those dark glasses on with them symbols bashing away in the background !!..
Oh Simon's not there :(
3:54 listen at .75 speed
Thank you, brother.
I always thought Townsend was a bit of a tosser, but despite that a brilliant songwriter, he's written some of the best songs ever.
me like who
The who lost a lot in 2018 February
@B1ggu5 MAYBE STILL USING DRUGS, JK
I have nothing good to say, so I'll say nothing.
Go listen to Elton John you wuss...
Awesome but, the drummer is attempting to do the impossible, trying to play like Keith Moon.
Pale imitation of the TRUE Who. Sad.

Just look up John Entwistle, isolated bass. He was an amazing bass guitarist.
Meh...completely underwhelmed with Zac Starkeys drumming. Simon Phillips smokes Zac. So did Keith of course. I even like Ringos drumming better than Zac's.
look in the mirror and ask yourself
