John was probably surprised there was a camera on him. Watch a number of their videos in the late 70s to mid 80s. He's pretty much ignored in favour of Rog & Pete.
The brass just gives it too much of a Las Vegas/Superbowl vibe. This would have been a decent tour without the brass section. Simon Phillips is fantastic.
I always felt the were TWO camps of British 60s music…Beatles/Stones and Who/Kinks. I’ve always been more in the latter, although I also respect the former.
For me, The Who are my absolute favorite by a mile. I also very much love the Beatles and Kinks. I enjoy about 10 of the Stones’ songs. They’re good but they don’t compete with the other 3 in any category besides longevity, in my opinion.
Not raw enough for me and i am not a big fan of brass in rock music especially this song! the brass just takes all the aggression out of the riff which is how this is supposed to sound. Great song but give me the live 1971 version anyday!
When you're so good decades later people who was only one years old when this happened are watching in 2022!💖
Pete's bridge is sung brilliantly.
But he's still a dad-slightly-drunk-at-a-wedding dancer
Roger's harmonica solo at the end of (nearly) each live performamce of the song is SPECTACULAR!
The talent on show here is unbelievable!
I attended this concert at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania 1989. It was magical 🎶
The best old rock and roll
John Entwistle used his own tunings and that's what made his playing so unique.
I can’t express how much I love their music. I LOVE to watch Pete play guitar! Brilliant….
In live music, hands are for clapping, not for holding the phone.
Simmon Phillips on Drums baby!!!!!!!!!
@Tony Dee Not exactly Moonie.
1:16 John Entwistle is like:" what the fuck is pete doing right now?? "
He always has that look whenever Pete acts like that on stage
This was MY Who Era-the 80s-third decade on for the blokes🇬🇧
The best concert ever back in 1982 Houston tx (astrodome) the final hoorah good times
The Best Perfomance!!!!
loved this show
great song!
una delle canzoni più belle della storia!
la loro migliore insieme a won't get fooled again!
Holy shhh Simon Phillips is crazy!
Sensacional !!!!
NO ONE CAN BEAT THEM!!!
NOT A CHANCE FOR ANY NEW OR OLD BAND CAN EVEN TRY!!!!!
"The Who = The Best".
I saw this tour. You are absolutely right. You can’t touch The Who live. Nobody can…
Simon Phillips baby!!

WHAT A MAN
your type man...

Ah The Who On Ice tour of 1989.
@Berenueve No, the drummer is Simon Phillips.
I love these guys. I loved them more with Keith.
Sempre grandissimi
😢
Why does the album version say 'yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah', but live Roger always says 'no no no, no'? I like the 'yeah' routine MUCH better.
Doesn't really matter. It's still the same song.
they always do that in the live act.
Where was this filmed? I saw them in '89. Best concert ever!
Universal amphitheatre hope this helps

Roger doing the violin solo on his harmonica... I wish I knew...

WHO'S BEST ( Guy platteau Marseille France)
@TheTzdope THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL, craiiiiigggg daviiiisSSS
This was awesome...but why was Roger dressed as everyone's mom in the 1970s?
Johns like WTF!! LOL
1:15
LOL

BABA O RILEY !
ROGER DALTERY - THE WHO
Take out the horns. That part should only be for a Stratocaster.
See it or Flick it. ...or a les Paul
They could have had a violinist with them, instead of Roger doing that solo on his harmonica.
Why was everyone's mom in the 70's dressed up as Roger?
Who's the drummer? It ain't Kenny Jones!
+Robcatist The Drummer is Simon Phillips
It's just dawned on me that Daltrey looks remarkably like Frank Spencer...
Mm, Betty O'Riley
same as live in Keith Moon :D
you mean belly full of CO2 ?
How did Pete Townshend hurt this hand?
Impaled his hand on his guitar's whammy bar while windmilling
Not the same without Keith Moon.

Quit bitchin and enjoy the music
+Joshua Hugo Not bitchin mate just stating my opinion. Enjoy your 80's Who era
Sorry...the drummer cannot play like a Who drummer can...only two could...Keith or zak...
Simon Phillips might be a great drummer but he is not a Who drummer, i just dont think he fits
Simon is overpowered for The Who, his fills are too agressive and not Moon-like
But it sounds very good, man!
Phillips is technically a better drummer than moon with his own unique sound, there are few who can match him
Who's the drummer in the red bandana? My god his snare and toms sound amazing. His doing a real service to Moony, too
