A three year old tutorial, and I learned a ton of things. Using the Bevel modifier to even out the vert count, using multiple hooks, making a proxy. Thanks
Definitely like the hook modifier, I've never used it and just learned it existed. Along with how you used simply cloth in such a way that allowed the simulation to be seamless with out having to adjust much. I have simply cloth, just haven't used it much.
I just found this tutorial and it's really great. One thing I didn't quite get though is why there's a need for 3 seperate vertex groups. Couldn't you just hook the Pingroup to the hook modifier as well?
Will this work on a waistcape/kama? basically capes that go on the hips and are attached to the belt instead of the shoulders, looks kinda like a skirt, i'm making a clone trooper and want to use this tutorial
@@Markom3DJust thought of this now, but how would i begin to model it if it's meant to go around the waist? unlike a regular cape, it isn't just the back, it goes all around like a skirt. I don't see how i can use a flat plane for that? should i start with a cylinder with the top and bottom removed as my base?
Markom thanks... im coming from 3dsmax and this workflow video helps me out alot... would you mind doing another tutorial WITH SIMPLY CLOTH PRO but this time simulating a full character cloth (shirt+pants) and then export THAT result onto ue4? it doesn't need to be too detailed..im more interested in the workflow and how to attach the cloth onto a character and then having it collide etc... in 3dsmax for example i can set a selection set (also as a soft selection) for the vertices in waist and then attach those to the deforming mesh and simulate the rest...
Hi there...your method helped me make a cape tremendously...so thank you! I do have a question....should I animate first before adding the cape or add the cape and then animate?...so i have 2 problems. 1. When I add the cape and try to use rigify the cape goes wild and somehow the cape deforms and gets really our of proportion 2. If i rig it first and animate then i cannot find a bone to parent the cape to. I'm new to blender so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and how to resolve this..I want to create superman animation where i animate and attach a cape...I just can't seem to figure out how..any suggestion?
My cloth bleeds into my MIXAMO Character. How do I fix this. I have a character summersalt onto an inflated sheet but the sheet bleeds through my character!
First of all I would like to say how much I loved this tutorial, it is exactly what I was looking for : D Second, I would like to know if the same process would apply to other parts of clothing, as, for example, in my case I have a character who wears an overcoat, and I want the clothing simulation to apply only to the end of that clothing, in this case the part that goes below the waist. How do I do this? Because I want the rest of it to be connected to the armature, moving with the character
The hook modifier does absolutely nothing, the cap just falls, although nothing literally ever work for me so I’m not surprised, I follow every step possible and I still fail impossibly.
i was fighting with the cloth five mins ago actually doing everything the same before the video but silly me i didnt put the hooks upon the cloth THANKS A LOT
I downloaded a model of Superman and I followed a tutorial on how to add a baked cloth simulation to the rigged cape. But for some reason, only the cape animation is showing up in the render, whereas the character animation isn't and the character is as still as a statue. Both the cape and character are in fact still rigged to the armature and move as they should in the 3D layout. It's just not working in the render. Is it because I baked the cloth simulation that I need to bake the character animation as well?
Works in general but I ve come across instances where the cloth although being hooked it doesn't follow the empty and is instead just floating in the air while the rest of the model goes around
That's for capes, pieces that are just the back and thus only interact with the back. What about cloaks, where it wraps around and can be flung to the back or left around the body? I can't seem to find anyone that does Cloaks.
It'll probably fall off. i haven't tried much cloth simulations tbh but you can see that the cape isn't actually going around the character's neck, it's just pinned on his shoulders so there is little stopping it from falling off if you delete the pins and even if you put it around his neck, it can get glitchy and annoying. Better to use pins
I can't set the armature as target of Child Of constraint on the empty, the armature's just not on the list. Anybody knows why ? EDIT : Nevermind, my armature was called "Rig" and the thing called "Armature" was something else. Not sure how that happened, but targeting "Rig" instead worked.
lol...everyone enthusiastic because the tutorial actually works and then there's just dumb me following every single detail of it but having my cape not following the character shoulders...-.- why? why? whyyyyyyyy?????
You haven’t applied the pin group to the cloth settings. Also, go to frame 1, go into edit mode, and move the mesh a little to hopefully clear the cache.
@@Markom3D i swear i did, also cause it's hard to miss, since you forget yourself to do it, so as a quite visible reminder for the viewer. I also just repeated the tutorial from scratch and again...it's not following the character when he moves. I ended up removing the spheres and hook modifiers and parenting the cape to the neck bone and at least now it's following when he moves. I don't understand if this is due to a different version of both Blender (3.0) and Simply Cloth Pro (2.0) i am using, otherwise i don't understand all of the enthusiastic comments below mine, and nobody else having issues... ;( Another thing that i don't seem to be able to understand is why the cloth simulation is not showing when i do render the animation? Even after baking everything it's not working. Even worse if i press "Apply cloth" on the addon interface...i really don't get this and there's no tutorial around about it whatsoever...am at a loss :(
Bruh, I found your channel recently & the content is really amazing. BUT still there are no great results. So here are some quick tips : Start uploading content which is Trending & Different. If you have some tutorials to upload then complete them & Start uploading more viewable content (like C.G Geek...I don't more channels) You can upload animated short films and then make tutorials on them etc... Stop these regular videos, So that your channel can grow more faster and bigger Edit : This doesn't mean you should do things which you do not like. Be yourself . You got the point

Yeah, I really like this tutorial. Now I am trying to compress the tutorials to even shorter
Im using this cape for my next episode for my new hero, Thank you!
Excellent video. Exactly what I wanted. I just purchased the "Simply Cloth Helper". Brilliant addon.
If the cloth is falling apart the solution is to select all the edges in edit mode, then hit M and click merge by distance

yeah, it works out pretty well
Here's some Jazz- Langston Hughes and Miles Davis.
Great tutorial! Subbed and Jazzed.
That intro made me subscribe instantly.
Thank Markom.
no worries mate
I was trying to parent specific vertexes to an empty for like three hours. I am so sooo tired, thank you so much for the hook modifier part.
How did you guys find this tutorial? Can you see yourself using this?
its good, yes
Subscribed to your channel with all reminders on for new content. Keep up the great work.
Yes yes yes
Found it by googling looking for an issue i had to make it work.
I used it right now.
i looked for a cape tutorial for a project. urs was the first result
need more videos on cloth simulation
lol, no worries mate, I will see what I can do
@@Markom3D thanks mate
oy, This tutorial is great!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, thanks for making this tutorial! Brilliant.
Thank you, this was really handy!
Thanks for this tutorial Markom :)
My pleasure!
Great work as always man! This one came just in time for my current project!
Glad I could help!
Nice Tutorial :)
I'm glad you like it
ALWAYS great work man!
Can you do a Batman cape tutorial? Batman's cape not only floats but also is meant to like being wing shape to help Batman glide.

hey, this was helpful but I'm super interested in the mask you had at the end. where did that come from?
any way to add wind to this sim?
good keep it up ;)
Thanks, will do!
What if you want to add cloth physics to parts of a model instead of adding a new mesh?
I dont have simply cloth, how do i make cloth without them??
How is the car piston made?
as in how they are made or how they work?
Do I have to purchase the simply cloth addon to follow you tutorial? or is there a way without it?
Hello, how could I make the character take his cape with his hand and move it later?
I should remember the relation between "Z" and "Zed" when people say it to adapt with other accents
