Finals day at Supertubos, with no tubes...nice
Small performance waves, always in Griffin’s wheelhouse. It’s a shame the swell has died, would’ve been more interesting in the conditions from yesterday. Becomes a battle if 3 to the beach vs air reverse on close out
Early morning surf in cold water, could really tell that their feet was frozen with all the falls.
What is WSL doing? Run it when it’s firing!
Colapinto did it very well
Meanwhile on the North Shore of Oahu, the surf is going off and John John’s brothers Nathan and Ivan Florence are pulling into over head barrels at pipe. Grif did good, nice CT win for sure. But, those waves on finals day were not world class supertubos by any stretch at all! My opinion: The WSL’s, CEO, Erik Logan, made the call that day because he didn’t want to foot the bill for the extra day or two on the waiting period. Even when a bigger swell was forecasted to come in. Instead we get ankle beater conditions (no tubes) for the “best surfers in the world.”
There was a time when I thought JJF would be the next Slater. And then he blew his knee out once, twice, thrice, I lose count. He free surfs now. He’s not into this heat. He’s missing so many turns and simple airs that he never misses before. He’s just gotta be over it.
Ouch, Griffin really did just make John John look like a chump

John John hands down my favorite surfer, gotta be honest colapinto smoked him. Something was off about John's board??!!

Congrats Griffin , here JJ got way over scored. The judges tried hard to take away your victory , and in the final you beat Filipe without a doubt . Well done ,. cheers from Brazil
I much prefer Paul over Joe on the call. Even though Pete halfway ruins it with his know it all approach
John is in that Jordy Julian territory where they were once air Kings regardless of conditions but alas No more
A gente percebe como o backside do JJF é limitado e sem power.
Stick to the face of wave and jj f would have got the scores looking and going for airs cost him the heat.
