I love Griff but that was complete BS! If the judges had ever done an air in their life they’d know a full rotation is 10x harder than a small slob straight air! Those 2 small air revs by Griff didn’t deserve an 8 at all too. That massive alley oop + air rev combo by Toledo was way more than 1.6 points above Griffins “buzzer beater”. Anyway, what is done is done. I’m Aussie. But rooting for Toledo to get that first world title this year. Been a massive fan of him since his first CT win against Julian at Snapper in 2015! Couple more events. Excited to see the end results 🙌🏽⚡️
Wsl is messing it up imo. I feel they pushing jack and griff with strengh. I consider they great surfers, cant denny. But they are overscoring they a lot it seems. There should be a way to make the scores less subjective i guess. The way it is, is bad for the sport

What if they’re giving the wins to the other surfers (non-Brazilians) for bigger monetary opportunities and to increase revenue. Might sound crazy but if it’s just the Brazilians winning every time maybe viewers and sponsors aren’t as engaged as it’s dominating. So I’m thinking they’re giving the other surfers the edge to make it more interesting and for WSL to make more bank. Just a thought, but would love to hear peoples opinion on this 🤔

And also if you have strong contenders from usa and aus, it certainly raises revenue, more ppl watching their brands. Its a pitty although their surf are not the best.... not as medina, italo and felipe. I see those 3 steps ahead the others. And I really want to see a clash between countries. But the way they are doing it, might also backfire... ppl may lose some interest or dont take wsl so seriously, idk.
@@SurfingWithNoz no brother, they are hindering the evolution of the sport, because the other surfers would always try to outdo themselves in front of the Brazilians, this would lead to an evolution of the sport, now it's Grifin, Jack, kanoa, we can't forget about Conner coffin, who even falling in the cut, always had very well judged grades, they keep doing that edge surfing, and the judges release the grades and then they don't put the innovative and progressive in their surf.
Na história da liga mundial de surfe já vi uns julgamentos absurdos, daqueles que qualquer um que entende minimamente de surfe, sabe que está errado! O que eu vi acontecer hoje foi mais uma vez dia de vergonha para o esporte, com notas erradas, demora na entrega e falta de clareza, como assim largar a nota mais importante do campeonato sem as parciais?! Temos que começar a nos mobilizar mais, protestar, começar a cobrar esses organizadores e patrocinadores, e que não estraguem o esporte que amamos com seus julgamentos 'subjetivos'. Mas como brasileiro digo, terão que nos engolir!
Saquarema está aí... quem sabe faixas e cartazes sendo exibidas pelo maior público não faça mais barulho, serão vistas no mundo inteiro através da transmissão ao vivo. The judgments of the last stages ended my interest in following the stages live. This problem does not come from today. But it's wide open this year. As much as I like competition surfing, I won't waste my time any longer with the justification that the criteria are subjective. I'll wait for the WSL highlights here on UA-cam.

I think Grif’s 9 should have been a high 7, insane surfing but wave was tiny compared to Toledos 9.5, and Toledo’s 6.4 for that full rotation was underscored comparing it to other waves in the heat. Just my opinion. Tough for Filipe to lose that way
Amazing heat and performance from both guys! But I think Griffin's choices on that first wave were a bit too "repetitive" and predictably "safe" to deserve a 9.0. I've watched that again, and still can't see a 9.0 in there... Still, this was one of the best heats of the year so far!

nobody wants these unedited heats, what we WANT is better conditions for these guys when they are thrown out into their heats, and for the judging to not be biased, you fix those two things and the people will love you again
Yeah Boyz! Amazing final! Congrats to both Griffin and Felipe for putting on an awesome show! 🔥🔥🔥🔥But to save face & credibility the judges do need to recalibrate & tighten up. If this is the top of the sport, the judging needs to be so precise that there is no room for accusations of favoritism or subjective error. Reminds me of when Mick Fanning used to win titles doing 3 simple turns while other guys were landing huge airs going for broke. The judging has sucked for decades. Best thing people can do is to stop watching the WSL and let the company go broke. Eventually a new company will start and hopefully have better judging. 😌
I think your analysis is very reasonable. Griff won by a full point and in your case, he would have lost by only .2 pts - so a very close heat. You are 100% correct that no matter what the score Felipe shouldn't have let Griff go under priority. Felipe should have taken the wave and gotten his own 8+ score. I like Felipe but he blew it at the end of the heat with that bad choice. No one got robbed.

O Surf está regredindo ao invés de evoluir. Sou triatleta vindo da natação, aonde a muitos anos milésimos de segundos são revistos para não deixar dúvida. É necessário o uso da tecnologia e diminuir o fator humano. Deixa o esporte até mais popular na mídia. Veja o vôlei, o atleta pode pedir tira teima e rever o ponto, e com isso até reverter a pontuação. Até o VAR no futebol que era intocável chegou.
Com certeza são esportes totalmente diferentes a questão é o julgamento, que no surf também pode melhorar, poderia ter um VAR por exemplo no surf com critério de dificuldade, tamanho da onda, veja 2 coisas que não é difícil de realizar. Aí diminui a subjetividade dos juízes
Deixo meu dislike para a WSL pois foi ridículo a falta das notas na última onda do Colapinto e ridículo os julgamentos critérios e notas. Poxa vida um desrespeito com os internautas que passam horas e horas, madrugadas assistindo pra chegar na Final e fazer isso... fiquei sem entender o que aconteceu... Como o Colapinto virou se não apareceu nota nenhuma dos juízes. O cara foi para o pódio ganhou troféu e nada de aparecer as notas dos juízes ridículo. Um desrespeito com os atletas e nóis telespectadores que ficamos horas e horas assistindo pra chegar na Final e fazer isso.
I get the feeling that the judges go in looking for a way to make sure Filipe and Italo don't dominate the tour. Either one of them has to annihilate the other guy in the heat. If its even remotely close the judges are going to hand it to a Jack Robinson or Griffin.
I love both surfers. At the end of the day, griffin did do like 7 or 8 maneuvers on his 9. Felipe did 2 airs and one turn. Although both of Felipe’s airs were excellent, the judges did say that this year they are going to reward power surfing more this year. Felipe’s wave was still better, hence it scored higher

Independente de atletas e/ou nacionalidades, quem acompanha o circuito sabe que a nota 9 do Griffin e essa última onda (nota 8) foram SUPER valorizadas, invertendo assim o resultado. Uma pena que em 2022, com tanta modernidade, temos que ver isso.
Tais maluco, se continuar assim os brasileiros tem que sair do circuito. O Griffin não tinha como trocar nota com essa última onda, brasileiros estão sendo muito prejudicados.
The trick was on that 9 points to Griffin. Well that's the only way for the Americans and Aussies to win. The identity of the judges must be disclosed. All their business connections and bank accounts must be published. So they can face the consequences. The WSL must be closed and an international nonprofit surf association must be created.

I can only guess the terrible situations Medina has faced fighting against a foreign and hostile culture, learning a new language, and being persecuted by prejudices, biased opinions, etc. To be honest, Medina´s three world titles are way more impressive than Kelly Slater's eleven. Just curious: Do you speak any foreign language?

I just pointed out that Slater NEVER had to face a foreign hostile culture, learn a foreign language and fight cultural bias to succeed as Gabriel Medina did. Yes, I would say that Adriano de Souza and Ítalo Ferreira faced the same chalenges Medina did. That's the only way for you to improve as a human being.
I know it's a subjective sport and sometimes I think airs get over scored... but here they got it wrong and I'm an American. Plus can someone explain the waiting period? Was it cut. It needs to be expanded! Looked more like mediocre onshore beach break at times than a world class point break. All that said, guys were ripping and I still love it.

Well , I guess that WSL wants some excitement in the Grand Final . I guess they need to satisfy the world wide crowd not only Brazilians , it seems to be that they are manipulating the results to have diversity of nations in the Grand Finals.
A política é a seguinte, nada é dito verbalmente, mas o juiz vê que o head ou organizador é mais pra um que pro outro e pronto. Passam a puxar dentro da média pra cima o que não está tão bem, e pra baixo pra quem está indo melhor, assim estão sempre agjndo no limite da regras, e a média é sempre no limite do positivo ou negativo, o head, ou organização percebe isso e chama o juiz corrupto pro próximo evento... mas nesse caso de hoje, com certeza já estavam todos alinhados num mesmo esquema. Desisti de julgar exatamente por esse tipo de podridão. Isso foi nos anos 90, mas hoje em dia tem como rever as ondas antes de soltar a nota, e se existe algum TJD (tribunal de justiça desportiva) internacional, ele deveria ser acionado, e os juízes, assim como head serem exonerados. Isso foi roubo descarado como já vemos isso nas outras etapas e com certeza os juízes dessa etapa estarão convocados de novo, garantiram o trabalho por mais um tempo. Assim como eu, acho que todos deveriam desinstalar o APP em protesto a wsl. NÃO VOU MAIS PERDER MEU TEMPO COM A WSL. Desisti de julgar, e agora desisto de assistir. O surf é bem mais que isso
Absolutely terrible judging again. There is no way Felipe did not win that heat. Bigger waves, bigger hits. It was a fun exchange, but only because of that 9, was it even close. That was just ludicrously overscored and should have been a 7,5 at maximum.
Surf is regressing instead of evolving. I'm a triathlete coming from swimming, where many milliseconds years are reviewed to leave no doubt. It is necessary to use technology and reduce the human factor. It makes the sport even more popular in the media. See volleyball, the athlete can ask for stubbornness and review the point, and with that even reverse the score. Even VAR in football that was untouchable arrived.

O Surf está pagando o preço de nunca realmente ter se profissionalizado realmente, sempre foi coisa de panela (australianos, americanos e hawaiianos ) até os hawaiianos sempre foram incluídos na panela mais por pressão porque se dependesse da entidade seria Austrália e USA e deu. O surf profissional da wsl é arcaico, a mídia que cobre o evento é deles, os narradores e comentaristas em todas as línguas são deles, meia dúzia de marcas bancam os que realmente surfam e mais uma cambada de surfistas medianos e seus amigos e etc ....a WSL representa muito o que é a cultura surf ao redor do mundo, interesse e panela e aqueles que não baixam a cabeça serão cortados do circo, como já foi dito e os juízes? Ninguém sabe quem são e etc ....como o surf competição não desperta interesse da grande mídia a wsl começou essa campanha deliberada contra brasileiros, e antes disse eu não era daqueles que achava que estavam sempre garfando os brasileiros, agora o julgamento está valorizando a "linha" , a alisada na onda e etc ....e sabemos que um Head Judge pode "entrar" na mente dos juízes e impor a abordagem que lhe convém no julgamento. Gostamos do surf e por isso assistimos mas atualmente é fazer papel de palhaço, será praticamente impossível um brasileiro campeão esse ano, Jack Robnson e Colapinto estão na final e quero ver alguém superar as notas deles em Trestles.

Pela primeira onda, 9,57 Se comparar com 8 pontos, a primeira onda do Felipe foi bem superior mas para o juiz aonde foi 1,57 melhor que a do colapinto, a onda foi maior, era para ter sido um dez, mano depois que o Medina da um backflip e os caras não dão um dez, algo de errado, me refiro no finals Day contra o Felipe.

Scores are often alternated by the scenario of the heat. WSL does like a good show more then a fair one. On the other hand I feel they do it for every surfers. Catch a descent wave at the end, don't choak and you'll get the score... It's it fair ? Not on one event alone. It's it entertaining ? I like it. It's it still sport ? Now that's the real question... The quarters where amazing. It's sad we didn't get to see more conditions like that. I would gladly watch a couple less events but have longer waiting periods and more overlapping heats to see these guys surf perfect waves more often...

I don't think that 8 point ride was an 8 point ride. Griffin was ripping but those judges have questionable judgement.
I love Griff but that was complete BS! If the judges had ever done an air in their life they’d know a full rotation is 10x harder than a small slob straight air! Those 2 small air revs by Griff didn’t deserve an 8 at all too. That massive alley oop + air rev combo by Toledo was way more than 1.6 points above Griffins “buzzer beater”.
Anyway, what is done is done. I’m Aussie. But rooting for Toledo to get that first world title this year. Been a massive fan of him since his first CT win against Julian at Snapper in 2015! Couple more events. Excited to see the end results 🙌🏽⚡️
Wsl is messing it up imo. I feel they pushing jack and griff with strengh. I consider they great surfers, cant denny. But they are overscoring they a lot it seems.
There should be a way to make the scores less subjective i guess. The way it is, is bad for the sport

What if they’re giving the wins to the other surfers (non-Brazilians) for bigger monetary opportunities and to increase revenue. Might sound crazy but if it’s just the Brazilians winning every time maybe viewers and sponsors aren’t as engaged as it’s dominating. So I’m thinking they’re giving the other surfers the edge to make it more interesting and for WSL to make more bank.

O que eu vi acontecer hoje foi mais uma vez dia de vergonha para o esporte, com notas erradas, demora na entrega e falta de clareza, como assim largar a nota mais importante do campeonato sem as parciais?! I think Grif’s 9 should have been a high 7, insane surfing but wave was tiny compared to Toledos 9.5, and Toledo’s 6.4 for that full rotation was underscored comparing it to other waves in the heat. Just my opinion. Tough for Filipe to lose that way

Reminds me of when Mick Fanning used to win titles doing 3 simple turns while other guys were landing huge airs going for broke. The judging has sucked for decades. Best thing people can do is to stop watching the WSL and let the company go broke. Eventually a new company will start and hopefully have better judging. 😌

I think your analysis is very reasonable. Griff won by a full point and in your case, he would have lost by only .2 pts - so a very close heat. You are 100% correct that no matter what the score Felipe shouldn't have let Griff go under priority. Felipe should have taken the wave and gotten his own 8+ score. I like Felipe but he blew it at the end of the heat with that bad choice. No one got robbed.

O Surf está regredindo ao invés de evoluir. Sou triatleta vindo da natação, aonde a muitos anos milésimos de segundos são revistos para não deixar dúvida. É necessário o uso da tecnologia e diminuir o fator humano. Deixa o esporte até mais popular na mídia. Veja o vôlei, o atleta pode pedir tira teima e rever o ponto, e com isso até reverter a pontuação. Até o VAR no futebol que era intocável chegou.

Como o Colapinto virou se não apareceu nota nenhuma dos juízes. O cara foi para o pódio ganhou troféu e nada de aparecer as notas dos juízes ridículo. I love both surfers. At the end of the day, griffin did do like 7 or 8 maneuvers on his 9. Felipe did 2 airs and one turn. Although both of Felipe’s airs were excellent, the judges did say that this year they are going to reward power surfing more this year. Felipe’s wave was still better, hence it scored higher

I know it's a subjective sport and sometimes I think airs get over scored... but here they got it wrong and I'm an American. Plus can someone explain the waiting period? Was it cut. It needs to be expanded! Looked more like mediocre onshore beach break at times than a world class point break. All that said, guys were ripping and I still love it.

I guess they need to satisfy the world wide crowd not only Brazilians , it seems to be that they are manipulating the results to have diversity of nations in the Grand Finals.
A política é a seguinte, nada é dito verbalmente, mas o juiz vê que o head ou organizador é mais pra um que pro outro e pronto. Passam a puxar dentro da média pra cima o que não está tão bem, e pra baixo pra quem está indo melhor, assim estão sempre agjndo no limite da regras, e a média é sempre no limite do positivo ou negativo, o head, ou organização percebe isso e chama o juiz corrupto pro próximo evento... mas nesse caso de hoje, com certeza já estavam todos alinhados num mesmo esquema. Desisti de julgar exatamente por esse tipo de podridão. Isso foi nos anos 90, mas hoje em dia tem como rever as ondas antes de soltar a nota, e se existe algum TJD (tribunal de justiça desportiva) internacional, ele deveria ser acionado, e os juízes, assim como head serem exonerados. Isso foi roubo descarado como já vemos isso nas outras etapas e com certeza os juízes dessa etapa estarão convocados de novo, garantiram o trabalho por mais um tempo. Assim como eu, acho que todos deveriam desinstalar o APP em protesto a wsl. NÃO VOU MAIS PERDER MEU TEMPO COM A WSL. Desisti de julgar, e agora desisto de assistir. O surf é bem mais que isso

Surf is regressing instead of evolving. I'm a triathlete coming from swimming, where many milliseconds years are reviewed to leave no doubt. It is necessary to use technology and reduce the human factor. It makes the sport even more popular in the media. It's important not to rate 10, to allow surfers to improve their performance during the heat
however, taking the highest score as a basis for deciding what is needed in the next waves to score similarly, is indisputable
I basically don't agree with Griffin's first wave reaching "9", seeing what it took for Filipe to get "9'57"...
and filipe's "6.43" with 2 airs? doesnt match with the 2 inch air 8.00
O Surf está pagando o preço de nunca realmente ter se profissionalizado realmente, sempre foi coisa de panela (australianos, americanos e hawaiianos ) até os hawaiianos sempre foram incluídos na panela mais por pressão porque se dependesse da entidade seria Austrália e USA e deu. O surf profissional da wsl é arcaico, a mídia que cobre o evento é deles, os narradores e comentaristas em todas as línguas são deles, meia dúzia de marcas bancam os que realmente surfam e mais uma cambada de surfistas medianos e seus amigos e etc ....a WSL representa muito o que é a cultura surf ao redor do mundo, interesse e panela e aqueles que não baixam a cabeça serão cortados do circo, como já foi dito e os juízes? Ninguém sabe quem são e etc ....como o surf competição não desperta interesse da grande mídia a wsl começou essa campanha deliberada contra brasileiros, e antes disse eu não era daqueles que achava que estavam sempre garfando os brasileiros, agora o julgamento está valorizando a "linha" , a alisada na onda e etc ....e sabemos que um Head Judge pode "entrar" na mente dos juízes e impor a abordagem que lhe convém no julgamento. Gostamos do surf e por isso assistimos mas atualmente é fazer papel de palhaço, será praticamente impossível um brasileiro campeão esse ano, Jack Robnson e Colapinto estão na final e quero ver alguém superar as notas deles em Trestles.

Se comparar com 8 pontos, a primeira onda do Felipe foi bem superior mas para o juiz aonde foi 1,57 melhor que a do colapinto, a onda foi maior, era para ter sido um dez, mano depois que o Medina da um backflip e os caras não dão um dez, algo de errado, me refiro no finals Day contra o Felipe.

Até um dos comentarista da transmissão em português pediu pra sair, recebi a poucos minutos os áudios, muito revoltante isso que a WSL está fazendo com o esporte! Simplesmente eles puniram o comentarista por ele ter comentado algo que está nítido na desvalorização nas notas dos Brasileiros! Scores are often alternated by the scenario of the heat. WSL does like a good show more then a fair one.
On the other hand I feel they do it for every surfers. Catch a descent wave at the end, don't choak and you'll get the score...
It's it fair ? Not on one event alone. It's it entertaining ? I like it. It's it still sport ? Now that's the real question...
The quarters where amazing. It's sad we didn't get to see more conditions like that. I would gladly watch a couple less events but have longer waiting periods and more overlapping heats to see these guys surf perfect waves more often...
