- Watch this video to see what it’s like to travel on one of the world’s LONGEST FLIGHTS! This is Air New Zealand’s flagship route from New York to Auckland.
We made the trip from New York’s JFK international airport to Auckland’s International Airport onboard Air New Zealand Flight Number 1!
This video will showcase what it’s like to travel onboard the fourth longest flight on planet earth! We’ll highlight everything you’ll experience in Air New Zealand Business Class for almost 18 hours.
You’ll see the Business Class Lounge used by Air New Zealand in New York, the quirky Air New Zealand Business Class seat, the scrumptious Air New Zealand Business Class food, the Inflight Entertainment, and even get a sense for Air New Zealand’s incredible onboard hospitality.
This Air New Zealand 787 Dreamliner flight was supposed to take about 17 hours, but thanks to a long taxi time at JFK Airport and “seasonable winds,” we were onboard for a whopping 18 hours and 10 minutes!

It is not world longest flight tho, it is World's 4th longest flight, real longest commercial flight is SQ23/24 operating between KJFK and WSSS
Greetings
Dear sir
Its very good vedio.
I never go by flight.
Ur presantation just like im on board
@@d0m1nu27 he said "flights" so he.a probably gonna go on per-lhr and sin-jfk/ewr or maybe sin-lax/dxb-lax.. who knows. We.ll wait and see!
Hey, Jeb, it looks like I recieved a spam bot message claiming to be you giving me a gift. The bot is using the username "JebBrooks618".
@@d0m1nu27 he didn’t say it was… “World’s Longest Flights” as in plural.
My longest flight nonstop wasn’t a commercial flight but a military flight. We flew on a C-130 from Florida to Saudi Arabia in 28.4 hours. We had several aerial refuels along the way.
That sounds brutal
I hope it wasn't with net seating.
28Hrs on a C130? Hope you had a good chiropractor
My friend used to complain about 24 hour flights in a P-3 Orion R/T Brunswick, ME to Puerto Rico on one tank of fuel.
@@reestyfarts 24hr flight on a P-3? That’s not possible.
This was my favorite of any airline ever flown. I dreaded a 14 hour flight between Houston and Auckland, they were awesome. This was for a New Zealand/Australia adventure a few years ago. Both countries are truly awesome.
I normally can't deal with long flights, but the 787 cabin environment helped pass the 14-1/2 economy hours from Toronto to Seoul surprisingly well. Empty seat next to me was good.
My longest flight was when I was 18 years old...I flew from the window of the second floor of my house right to the ground as I came home late at night and tried not to wake up my parents!! That was a long flight to me!!
lol
Even with my desire to visit that part of the world, I don't believe I could endure a flight that is that long, you both have my applause. Thank you for sharing!
same
Sounds long but it isn’t when you take something to sleep. I had a 21 hour flight to Sydney cause we sat in the tarmac for three hours before taking off. It’s worth going to that part of the world
Come on, hurry up get that ticket and come on down
@@kevin3434343434 come on Kevin book that ticket and get down here
In Economy, I get that it's hard, but come on, what is hard about Business Class!? 18 hours with your own bed and fine dining? If you think that's a challenge then your every day life must be VERY easy!
Well done guys, that's an epic flight! Love the bloopers, keep them coming.
Thanks!! Bummed not to see you this time, but we’re already planning a return in April…hope you’re having a great trip!!
Say Dennis didn’t you recently fly on Air New Zealand 🇳🇿 Business Class from MEL-AKL-SFO? I think that’s right and that was also a great video! 🎉 Same crummy seats on your flights and Jeb’s flight though 😩
@@GreenerGrass my birthday is in April
My son works as a flight attendant for ANZ and he does the AKL to JFK regularly. I appreciate very much your 5 stars given to the in flight service ANz really rocks!!!!!!
I grew up only visiting places within driving distance of my South Carolina hometown. Not much of a risk taker, I was terrified to fly. In college, I had the opportunity to spend a summer in Australia and knew I couldn't pass it up. My first-ever ride on a plane was CLT to LAX in 2011 (4.5ish hours) when I was 23, and my second-ever flight was LAX to SYD on Qantas- 17.5h. No better way to get acquainted!
Hope you enjoyed Oz Cass
The entire video was great but those scenes at the end coming into Auckland were incredible. Thanks for sharing. SR
Seeing the fist bits of land come into view after that ocean crossing really helps the feeling of completing an epic journey.
Both Australia and New Zealand are such amazing countries. They're both so unique with spectacular scenery, and they're both so clean and unspoiled. Really generous, warm people and both nations have amazing food scenes. Air NZ and Qantas completely deserve all the praise they get. Both airlines are pioneering super long-haul routes so of course there will be a few teething issues, but being able to connect New York to Auckland, or Sydney to London, non-stop is going to really change the whole industry as many Middle Eastern & Asian airlines make a lot of their money on Aussies and Kiwis transiting in Dubai/Singapore/etc. to get to Europe.
Is it too much to stop over on the way? Eight hours is about my limit.
Maybe 13 hours from Boston to Tokyo or Hong Kong.
Thank you! Love from New Zealand!
I will definitely fly to New York
When taxiing to the runway takes so long but you get to see the different varieties of airlines that stop there...a small price to pay, for salvation. Seeing all the lights of the NYC metro at 5:06 puts into perspective just how big the NYC metro is and just how populated it is. The longest nonstop flight I've taken thus far just so happened to be from JFK too, from JFK to San Juan on jetBlue back in June 2009. I enjoyed walking around Old San Juan and seeing how rich in history and culture it is. Met many friendly people. Old San Juan's charm is one of a kind. Every time Puerto Rico is hit by something horrific, it hurts. They deserve to be treated better.
I came home on that flight yesterday in economy - definitely feeling it today! The flight itself was great, and I love on the call button how it has options for you to message you specific request to the crew, as well as simply request some water. Great flight, but glad to be home today 😊
After flying Air New Zealand and witnessing the exemplary service, I will NEVER fly another American or Canadian carrier to Auckland ever again. Even the Wi-Fi bandwidth onboard was so great, I was able to watch and upload videos to UA-cam somewhere around Samoa. Pro tip: don't fly economy on these long flights: go for at least the premium economy. You can often bid for an upgrade. Air New Zealand even upgraded me for free on my birthday.
Thank you for sharing this adventure with us Suzanne & Jeb! It really feels like I'm right along side you and it's a lot of fun. Thanks again.
4 hours from NYC to Santo Domingo is my longest flight still gives me to chills I could not do a 17 hour flight I'd go crazy
Interesting the difference a headwind makes. Took this flight from AKL to NYC recently. Just over 16 hours. Hardly short, but shorter than the other direction (with its prevailing headwinds). As usual, service on Air NZ was excellent - my favourite airline!
Hi Jeb, your videos are incredible and I am grateful for doing long trips like this, which can be exhausting, just for your subscribers. Thanks
I really enjoyed this review. You manage to pack everything needed into the perfect video length.
My longest flight so far was SFO to HKG at 13 hrs 13 minutes in eco+ on UA on a 747 without seat back screens! I continued on to Bangkok.
That's awesome guys, I flew air NZ from LA to AUCK a few years ago and loved the service, and the country of course is majestic.
Well done Jeb always enjoy your videos. These long hauls rae fascinating. Couldn't imagine flying that long lol but business class is definitely the best way.
As a Kiwi, this is exciting. I am taking the return journey in January and looking forward to it. Will be in business class, which is crap, but the new business class come with the 787-10 deliveries should be a game changer for Air NZ and elevate it to the level of premium carriers.
Hello! Just a curiosity! Will Air NZ use their 787-10 on this route? Because as per the official figures, this NYC-AKL flight is already stretching the B787-9's range limit... with 787-10 having comparatively shorter range than 787-9, i doubt whether they can use them on such a ultra long flight.... maybe Air NZ might have to fit the new business class cabin on their 787-9 for passengers to experience on this AKL-NYC-AKL route :) :)
@@geotrooper2179 the new business cabin will be retrofitted on the 787-9 when they are due for a refresh. Not immediately. The -10 will primarily be used on West Coast, America and Hong Kong/Singapore routes but I believe there are plans to use it to Chicago and NY too. Funnily enough, there will actually be less total seats on the -10 than the -9 (larger premium cabin), so they are thinking that they can maximise the range and use it on the NY route. They will also be getting the imminent range update from Boeing for the new -10 and retrofit to the -9 as they are also wanting to open up routes into the sub continent (India).
@@danbskyguy That's really interesting! Thankyou for the wonderful insight! :)
Fellow kiwi here too and excited to hear what the Jebscore will be! The Business Premier seat is showing its age, first being debuted on the triple-7 classics around 2007 under Fyfe even if it did get an all-white refresh, but the service and food are always a winner for me :)
I wish the marketing team would take a crack at the reviews, but nothing has quite hit the high notes of the Bodypaint safety video! Hopefully the new seats in 2024 will shake things up a bit :)
@Geotrooper I think the 787-10 actually has slightly less range due to extra drag and I'm not actually sure if it has extra fuel installed. I think AIRNZ was trying to get ER certification though so I guess we'll see!
Mate...do your homework...the new seats are not much different...they are not like Qatar or SIQ.....they still don't face the window and are not individual cabins.
Try Qantas business...much better products.
Great video and very informative Jeb. Thanks for sharing your review!
Jeb, you are an absolute legend! as a fellow travel videographer, I Salute you!
Loved the video! I hope to take longer flights out of USA and international travel a lot more but currently my longest flight is ORD-SEA, about 4.5 hours! Amazing how much you guys have traveled, Jeb and Suzanne! Glad to see Suzanne in more videos!
New Zealand fun facts: The history of Air New Zealand began when the amalgamated East Coast Airways and Cook Strait Airways began operations in January 1936 as Union Airways of New Zealand, the country's first major airline. Union Airways was the sole New Zealand aviation partner in Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), which made its inaugural flight in 1940. The New Zealand Government bought full ownership of TEAL in 1961 and the airline was renamed Air New Zealand in 1965.
In Māori, New Zealand is known as Aotearoa, which means "land of the long white cloud". It is widely believed to be the name bestowed by the Polynesian navigator Kupe.
Thanks alot Kim
Thanks Jeff for another great review!!! ❤🎉
Hey I was on this flight with you! First time traveling back to see my family and makes it so much better! Loving the channel
I recently went to Vietnam. Going we left from JFK & went through Germany, then Singapore then, on to Vietnam via Singapore Airlines. Coming back, we went from Vietnam to Singapore once again on Singapore Airlines. From Singapore, it was a non-stop flight of 17 hours to JFK in NY economy class. All in all, it wasn't that bad. It passed by quickly with in-flight movies and stewardesses who were absolutely AWESOME!
I really appreciate the honesty in this review and at the end where you looked on the brightside of being able to fly non-stop from the East Coast of the US to NZ. Hope you enjoy your stay!
Thank you for sharing memories with all.❤️👍
Been committed and watching 2 YT videos doing travel stuff, you were recommended and guess what - you have another subscriber ❤ fantastic, informative and fun video - Thankyou xx
Awesome review This is definitely a NEW experience for everyone! I wanted to fly New Zealand for a long time and you gave me a glimpse of whats it like!
My longest flight was on a China Southern A350 from JFK to Guangzhou, at around 15.5 hours. It made for a long day of travel from CLE-JFK-CAN-SIN, just over 30 hours from the time I walked into Cleveland airport until I got out of Singapore
My longest flight was at a party in the 70's! I'm ok now! Keep up the great work you two!
I was fortunate to fly Pan Am’s 747SP service from JFK-DHA and back in the 80’s as a returning student (parents worked for Aramco) and these flights were anywhere from 13.5 to 14.5. Sometimes we would have a stop in Shannon, Ireland to top off with fuel if the headwinds were too much. Those were great times traveling the globe.
Longest for me was Sydney to Dallas a couple months ago. Clocked in at about 15.30, though it's an hour longer in the other direction. Loved this video.
Was this recently on the 787 or pre-pandemic on the A380?
I love all of these new ULR flights - I'm taking my first (nearly) ULR flight aboard KQ2 & KQ3 JFK to Nairobi and Nairobi to JFK, our return flight should be 15 hours and will be my longest flight. I'm hoping to try Singapore's Newark to Singapore next fall, but it's expensive on its own, and I'd need to fly from Boston to New York/Newark first
Thanks Jeb...this is one of my bucket list goals!
Flew Brisbane to Antarctic return non-stop. 15 hours flight time unbelievable, unforgettable, Memorable. Loved it & would definitely do it again.❤
My longest non stop is from Heathrow to Johannesburg. normally this would take 11 hours to get from LHR to JNB, there was some sort of emergency happening at JNB when we were half an hour away. We circled for an extra 3.5 hours. The flight took a total of 14.5 hours.
I haven't flown NZ in many years, but always enjoyed my trips with them. This is a great and comprehensive review of a unique flight, due to its extreme length. Sorry about Suzanne's late and cold meal, what a downer.
My longest flight was about 18 hours from Asia to the U.S. I lived in Sydney in the 1970s and there were no non-stops to the U.S. then. But, I always broke up my trips with an overnight in HNL. I discovered that jet lag was minimal with the stopover.
Epic flight, but glad you both enjoyed the journey.
loving your videos mate!! the longest flight I have done was direct from Auckland N,Z to Vancouver.
My longest ✈️ flights are nothing out of the ordinary but longest I've been awake is somewhere in the neighborhood of 36 to 42 hours. This is when I worked for the Airlines in the early 2000's. I'd wake up early on California time,do a whole days activities, then overnight flight ✈️ back to the East coast. I don't sleep 😴 on planes so I was for sure 😃 tired when I got home 🏠! Sleep for 13 hours or so and I'd be fine!
The seats are dated now (and the upgrades are in the works) but something to recall is that because of NZ’s geography most long haul flights go through the night. They’re comfortable lie flat beds which is crucial.
At six foot three, I feel like I'm buried alive in those stupid lie-flat seats. Always cracks me up when short passengers barely can deal with a business class seat. I fly cattle class to the ME and South Asia all the time. Which is why I don't subscribe to this channel. Also, I don't watch friends or those other TV shows. Give me a classic novel or a few classic B&W films from the golden age of Hollywood, and I'm fine. Also, a blanket, a pillow, and a cup of hot cocoa help. Didn't understand why he went to the expense of buying bottled water. Doesn't the flight provide complimentary water? At least bring your own bottle and fill it up at the airport drinking fountain. Anyway, I've never been to AUS or NZ; I'm watching learn what I can, but likely will just stick with QR, No. 1 airline in the world.
ANZ will make you feel like New Zealand from the moment you step on board, enlivening your adventure journey.
The 18-hour flight may seem long, but it feels like you've already arrived, and it's probably more emotional than Disney movie, Wish.
ニュージーランド航空は乗った時からニュージーランドを感じ、冒険の旅を盛り上げます
18時間のフライトは長いようでもう着いたと感じ、ディズニー映画「ウィッシュ」はもちろん、運賃を超えた感動でしょう
I enjoy watching your videos. It’s also enjoyable watching the bloopers.
My longest flight was 13 hours, San Francisco to Beijing. The passengers all seemed to know each other. As soon as we got level, it was a block party on the plane.
It was on Air China which I don’t think you have flown on yet 😀
Great video Jeb and Suzanne! Air NZ are great but their new seat can't come fast enough. I like to relax with a pretty heavy recline so having to make it either completely flat or semi-reclined isn't great. Bigger problems in the world, I know, but when you're paying premium prices... Looking forward to more NZ videos!
Thanks, Paul! Yeah…the lack of recline is frustrating, for sure. And I’m excited to try their new seat, but - no matter what - getting to New Zealand makes everything right with the world!!
Their new seats is just as stupid...still doesn't face the window.
Air NZ needs to look at other business class seats...and not at their budget forecast.
Loved this one !!
My longest non-stop was Bangkok to London - around 13hrs, but that was part of a no-layover journey from Christchurch NZ that totalled over 26 hrs air time plus 7 hrs in Sydney airport and around an hour in Bangkok airport. Economy class and all legs were full!
Please do Air Tahiti Nui and Fiji Airways 🤞
Do a Delta Airlines Hub-Hopping!
thank you for sharing and bringing our little country into the world veiw a bit more. fantastic vid
My Mum's Cousin went To New Zealand and she didn't want to leave because it's an amazing country and Air New Zealand is a safe airline glad you 2 Enjoyed it
My longest flights were either Tokyo to London (1998) or Singapore to London (2006).
Longest flight with connections: Cairns, Australia to the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. Cairns- Auckland NZ- Santiago Chile -Punta Arenas (bottom of South America) -Stanley Falklands. Took me 3 days to get there lol
I did this flight last month in economy and it was still great. The seats next to me were empty both ways though so it felt like business class. Top-notch service from Air New Zealand regardless!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing
I flew 10.5 hours, JFK to Athens, Greece & watched five full-lenght movies! Plus, flew 10.5 hrs JFK to Buenos Aires,
Argentina! Both were long, but you could have slept part of it & it eliminated any layovers, which was great!
Wow I’m shocked the Captain cut off about 27 minutes from his announced flying time of 18 hours 10 minutes. But I guess on a flight that long, there’s a lot of hours to make up time (or lengthen it). But I’m often amazed how accurate the announced flying time often is. I recently flew DFW to LHR and we touched down exactly to the minute of when the Captain said we would. And yes, I have a nerdy digital watch and always keep track of the flying time 😀
Flight times between two destinations are clauclated with delays in mind. Including Headwind/ tail winds , any accidental delays while taking off or weather delays that make planes to wait for some time to land and all. Because airlines have to pay airports fine, if planes miss their landing slots and late. So the flight time will have +/- caluclations and not pay fine.
DFW is my home airport, i have done MS in Aerospace from Univ of Texas at Arlington, which is how i know.
Thanks
A good video of this flight. Thanks 👍🌹🌹🇲🇦
Awesome video yet again :) Like these series. Would love to fly to.
My longest was from San Francisco to Dubai (16h flat) on the A380. Definitely one of the best flights ever!
My longest flight is probably Amsterdam to Lima, but I was only 2 years old back then. The longest flight I can actually remember is actually from this year, Amsterdam to MEX with Aeromexico's dreamliner :)
THANK YOU for coming to NEW ZEALAND ==LUV your videos ==elizabeth nz xox✈
My longest flight were from HKG to AMS which took just over 12 hours on a Cathay 77W. Winds weren't in our favour that day. I slept most of the flight since I didn't get any sleep on the flight on the flight from SYD so it wasn't too bad. Woke up somewhere above Finland, watched a movie and landed just before sunrise
Awesome to see you flying and enjoying our national airline😁
Hope you've enjoyed your trip here so far 🤙🤙
Seems strange to see flight 1 running from JFK to Auckland, rather than LHR-LAX-AKL, but I know that ANZ gave up on their London flights a while back. :(
yes this is sad as I've flown this flight a few times before but I guess a sign of times changing for sure.
Thanks for this video. We are flying Vancouver, BC to Auckland later this month. We also opted for business class as the flight is far too long for coach. Our previous longest flight was Seattle to London.
Always a fun trip report when Suzanne tags along
Great video as always. They keep getting better and better. I always wanted to see what these flights were like. The jet lag must be brutal. Also could you make a trans Atlantic throw down series.
can we please get a Polaris flight review soon
Longest flight was YYZ/TPE, the block time is just over 15 hours but I flew it was 15:52.
NZ is one of my favourite places in the world. I am heading to NZ next year but have a stop on the west coast. I’ve flown on Air NZ business class, and really do not really like the seat especially facing the aisle.
You guys were lucky that the flight was non stop there have been occasions when the aircraft has to make a refuelling stop on the way down to AKL. Good review.
Like the business class one seat 💺 makes me happy.
Well done you two!
Great content Jeb! I see the LG Sky Chefs trucks in alot of your videos. I do leaf spring work for a living in KS. We've modified the leaf springs on hundreds of those trucks over the years to make them stronger to support all that weight. There's a company here in KS that builds for airlines all around the world, so every time you see one of them it's highly likely I worked on it.
My longest flight was about 3 hours from miami to chicago nothing compared to yours. 🤣
You might consider doing Chicago to Honolulu on one of the mainline carriers.
New to your channel. Y'all are fun. Thank you.
Nice video! Please, don't erase it never, never. It's one of my favourites
My longest flight was from London to Perth Australia. This has to be the best trip report you have made. You really are awesome. Indeed your wife is equally as awesome.
I'm glad you flew with Air New Zealand as they are among the best airlines in the World for me with a fantastic onboard product and service and one of the best and most friendliest cabin crew I've ever seen.I loved the video and you never disappoint.Keep up the fantastic work.
Oh,And Air New Zealand is a very underrated airline.
I'd like you to come to Pakistan as well and make some travel content here as well, including airplanes, trains and buses.
Great video. Love it. ✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️
Air New Zealand has fantastic crew members The pilot was wheeling my carry on when we went onto check in gate because my hands are full.
I will always remember “kiwi” the New Zealanders called themselves “kiwi”. Looking forward to revisit. When I left I opened my 2 arms and said “I love kiwi.
SFO to Auckland in the front First Class on Air New Zealand 747. The configuration was just window seats so it was like a dance floor in center. The longest part was return seems like Tonga was on the screen for hours. The return flight also was a connection from Sydney. We took a Silversea cruise that I highly recommend given the ships (most) have about 290 passengers all well traveled and interesting and we are most on pool deck so no suits etc. Grilled at our table on a hot stone!
This is the best channel to watch with a meal! :)
This really helps me and Bev figure out what to do
As an old woman sitting here in the cold of middle TN I love being transported to another world I will never know. Thank you for taking me away...
Thank you for the video
Nice! Welcome to New Zealand!
NYC JFK to Egypt 12 1/2hrs. I never even looked at a business/first class ticket until I started to watch your channel, and had I known that they actually aren’t a crazy amount over extra room seats I would’ve taken one 💪
We just returned from NZ. Our flights was from SFO to AKL. It took about 12 to 14 hours each way. I can never sleep on plane. The entertainment selections wasn’t too great, so I loaded up my iPad with Netflix shows and books from library. Time passed pretty fast and I don’t feel too tired. Airplane’s speed has improved a lot. I remember 20 years ago, it took 18 hours to fly nonstop from Newark to Taipei. Now it only takes 14 hours. BTW, there wasn’t any amenities kits for economy passengers.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. My longest flight was last year from Toronto to Maui, about 10 hours. Doing it again next year
Awesome sunset/sunrise!
ON the list!!!
That was awesome Jeb!
I flew 18 hrs from LA to Auckland about 25 yrs ago on ANZ with a brief stop in Tahiti on a 747. There were multiple cabin crews and pilots
Very interesting how they rotated on and off
My longest flight nonstop was ATL to HNL aboard a Delta Airbus A330. I watched four movies on that flight. I saw a Korean Air A380 land in front of us in Atlanta and saw a Delta 747-400 at the gate next to ours when we arrived in Honolulu.
Kia ora jeb and welcome to NZ Thanks for visiting our beautiful country hope you enjoyed the flight and enjoyed our country
Dec 1980 I flew 21/22 hours nonstop from New York to Dhahran Saudi Arabia on a PanAm SP747 - This was a very special airplane that was shortened in the middle to reduce weight to fly longer distances back 40+ years ago.
My longest flight was from Paris(CDG) to Hong-Kong 🇭🇰 took nearly 14 hours.
Flew through Cathay-Pacific. Service was awesome
