  • I've been wanting an Air Filtration system for my shop for a while now and this new Jet AFS-1000C was just released. I decided to purchase this and do a quick unboxing and installation video.

    Extend one chain long enough to connect to this system when it's on top of the ladder. Now you have 2 free hands to connect the opposite corner because the long chain is holding half of the weight. After connecting the other 3 chains, remove the extension.

    This was an incredibly useful review. It’s the one piece in my workshop that I’m missing. I like the auto speed feature of this. Let me know how you’ve liked it over the last year and if you’d buy again if shopping for one now.

      It’s really been a great air cleaner and would buy it again for sure. I recommend getting the washable electrostatic filter, save you some money in the long run. I actually recorded a follow up video going over some of these things I’m planning to post hopefully later this week!

    Thanks for the great review. My Jet AFS 1000B died at 3 years into the 5 year warranty. After repeated attempts with JET replacing parts - circuit board, capacitors & fuses, they replaced it with an AFS 1000C. Thank you to Jet -excellent customer service! It was nice seeing you unbox, assemble and mount the unit. I will be doing it myself too.

      Glad Jet was able to take care of you on this. The 1000C is pretty nice and my lungs are thanking me for getting one!

    Really excited to see how well this works to clean up the air in the shop, especially since the weather doesn’t always allow working with the doors open!

    Thank you for making the video. I am looking at this Air filter and just seeing you unbox it was really useful. And reminds me of "old" youtube where it wasn't about having 100K subscribers. Your video is also really nice in quality.

      Thanks, It's been working well still. The filter alert finally said "replace now" but I just used the shop vac to clean them up and they are good to go.

      Yeah my only complaint is some strange interference with my garage door opener…. If I leave the AFS in standby mode waiting on a signal from the remote it totally kills the wireless range on the remote control for my garage opener…. So I just turn it completely off when not in use now…

    Thanks for providing the video! Always nice to see something close up before making the purchase. I'm actually picking one up next Friday when it goes on sale (10% off). I'd like to pick up my chain and hooks ahead of time though and I was wondering if you could tell me the inside diameter of the eye bolts that the unit ships with. I'd just like to pick up the strongest chain that will fit through the eyelet opening. Thanks much!

    • @jbwoodworkingofficial
      @jbwoodworkingofficial  4 місяці тому +1

      I just checked and the opening of the eyebolt is just over 1/2” so you can get a pretty darn strong chain to fit that. The unit itself isn’t that heavy though, I don’t remember off hand how much it weighs. Glad you liked the video!

      @@jbwoodworkingofficial....Great to know....thank you! I believe it's only about 33 lbs., so yes....1/4" or even 3/16" chain should be fine. Can't wait to get mine installed and running. My father passed away in 2011 from pulmonary fibrosis (he was a long-time carpenter for the local school district back when dust collection & air filtration wasn't nearly as good as it is today) and I've been putting off getting a decent filtration system for too long.

    When is part 2?

      That’s a great question. I might try to make a follow up here during Christmas break. It’s been running great though, I need to replace my filters but I think it’s helped a lot to keep the dust out of my lungs.

    How long have you had it now, and do you still like it? Are filters hard to get? Expensive?

    • @jbwoodworkingofficial
      @jbwoodworkingofficial  11 місяців тому

      Hey! I bought this in may of 2022, still use it and it’s still working great. I get the filters off Amazon, a little more than I’d like to spend of course. This may not be the “best” advice, but when the filters get dirty I take them out and shop-vac them off and keep using them a few times…. The 1000C sees them as new filters and it seems to work just as well so…

      @@jbwoodworkingofficial Thanks for your quick response! Yeah, I was wondering if you could clean the filters with any success. Sounds like you can get a couple of reuses that way. How often do you find yourself using the shop vac to clean them off?

    • @jbwoodworkingofficial
      @jbwoodworkingofficial  11 місяців тому

      @@josephtofalo3325 Some of that will depend on your usage but I tend to clean them off every couple months.. I’ve only bought one set of replacements so far and plan to keep cleaning them off until I notice a decrease in airflow. Again, may not be the best advice but I’d rather spend my money on more tools 😀

    Any updates? How do you like it?

    • @jbwoodworkingofficial

      It's been really nice so far. I love the "auto" feature, it definitely ramps up the air flow while i'm sanding and then slows back down after a while. I cleaned up my shop last weekend and used a leaf blower to get all the dust off the ground and it ramped up to level 6 (max) during that time.

    • @posejan2727

      @@jbwoodworkingofficial Will you show how the auto feature is running? I am looking forward to see this in the next video.

    • @jbwoodworkingofficial
      @jbwoodworkingofficial  2 роки тому +3

      @@posejan2727 Yes, i still plan on making a follow up video. The auto feature does seem to work pretty well, i've noticed when i'm sanding the AFS will speed up to 3 or 4 and then it slows back down after i'm finished.
