James I keep hearing Lucky Loonie , there is only one that has Luck Loonie actually written on it , the year 2016 . Just thought I would mention this , Good video .
Yes - only the 2016 actually has 'Lucky Loonie" inscribed on it, but any of the Olympic themed loonies are colloquially known as "Lucky Loonies" based on the story of the icemakers at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games placing a loonie at centre ice. Both the women and men won Olympic gold that year. Most of these issues are listed as "Lucky Loonies" in both the Charlton Guide and the CoinsandCanada website (coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?canadian_coins=1-dollar-2003-2023).
@@OgirCoins Thanks! I started doing this so that I could hold onto an example (and not lose track of it). Originally I would staple it up and label it, and then really quickly find a better one. Some of those coins might get upgraded several times, and I was going through a lot of 2x2s. This is where the albums are great. You can fill a spot with a placeholder coin and then easily upgrade it without wasting a flip. Of course, the albums are much more expensive than the flips, so...
@@CADRollHunter Great idea! I'm going to implement it. Hey 3 cents a flip each time adds up but, most importantly the flip is wasted when it could temporarily hangout for a better conditioned coin. Like it!
one off the loonies you didn't show is one very hard to find. Its is the old design for2012 since that time i found only one in circulation ,as they are putting out the new loonie with charles 3 what you think the mintage will be for that
That's right, the old gen 2012 are hard to find for sure! I'm thinking the 2023 coins will be at about 1m each, but maybe less. Perhaps the loonies will be higher?
Not a great box but one never knows. I have been unlucky lately and roll after roll of loonies are in such a sad state and look awful. One would think the Mint would figure a way to plate the loonies and centre of toonies so they don’t loose their brightness or at least keep some of it. The loonies look gross in my opinion. The Mint does so well with the other denominations and with the colours. What is your opinion ?
That's the natue of those bronze coins. It's too bad really - I agree that often they look awful. It gives one that much more satisfaction when you find a really nice one!
@@CADRollHunter Yes but that should not be the case as all loonies and toonies should be presentable not like they came out of a garbage dump. Canada is a topnotch mint for many countries but these loonies and toonies are a let down. The mint should solve this issue with a good metallurgist. It is really not a unsolvable issue what so ever and actually an easy one.
Have Lighthouse modernized their books to include pages to get us to 2023 and beyond yet? Books that only go to 2016 are a joke and show how much Lighthouse care about their products
I just bought a lighthouse 1 Dollar album for modern Loonies and its still not updated. Also, they havent had new stock like spare pages to add to the albums in a very long time. I contacted them back in November 2022 about it, they told me first quarter of 2023 to expect new stock. Nothing yet.

That's a great question. I'm not sure how far the new Lighthouse Vista album pages go, to be honest!
