Dude, get the Ford Racing short throw shifter with aluminum bracket. Easy install and CJ Pony Parts has a great video. The bracket replaces the stock rubber mount which is stopping you from getting into third. It's 40% less throw and so precise and goes right into gear. Best mod I've done yet. Totally worth the money, you'll love it. I guarantee it!
I have a 2013 boss 302. I installed the Barton hybrid 3 shifter. I didn’t install the trans mount. It’s only body mounted and it shifts great! The reason is the linkage.
Yeah I have the MGW trans mount. Barton is very similar tho and I love the feel of trans mount

i have that issue aswell thats what sucks about my stock 2013 5.0 I always get locked out on a shift In HI RPMs I don't think it's your BOSS intake manifold.its the stock clutch, if you can figure out what's the best clutch for the mt82 that would help me out a bunch thanks.
Sad it didnt work out. Still no mods on my 2014 other than drilled and slotted brake rotors. So many ideas so little money. Oil separator, intake, exhaust, and so on and so on. Thanks for mod-ding your Mustang so I can feel less of a man...dammit. Need that app info so I can get a baseline.
Do it man! Report back with the baseline and try to do it more times than I did. I kinda got frustrated with the lockout and stopped lol

I just put my new driveshaft in😂 Last night was my first time at the drag strip and I launched at about 2k on bald street tires and just toasted the driveshaft. Looked like a twisted pretzel but didn’t snap. That track was too sticky

Jacob R. Doty I picked up another stock 1 piece from one of my buddies for $100 to get the car going again. What i’m saying is the car kept spinning real bad so i was launching at super low rpms, then I tried to launch a lille higher because i was hogging down and boom i hooked and snap.
6 of us went, three camaro three mustangs. Three mustangs left on a trailer😂 My whippled buddy broke his halfshafts, my procharged buddy grenaded his mt82
Did you have lockout issues before the boss intake?
Get a Mantic Twin disc. I’m gonna upgrade my clutch too, but that won’t be until after boost lol. I know I should do it before but I just don’t wanna put off that whoosh any longer.

You need the Barton hybrid shifter. The Mt-82 is only good for 400 ft lbs of torque. Even if you get a better clutch,with more horsepower you’ll blow the trans. You need a tr-6060 or xl magnum.
Looking st getting a 2014 5.0 and want some ideas on what to do with it. (Already has Kn cold air intake, 20” staggered wheels, and lowering springs) anybody wanna throw some ideas and what the pros would be to then?
The LAY shaft makes so much noise in my MT82 that it causes false knock retarding timing.
In the mustang group on Facebook, I’ve heard it’s also better to change the clutch line with the braided steel clutch line and the lock-out should stop
I’m just going to take care of that the same time I do the clutch. That fb group can be good and bad haha

Watched another you tube video on the 302 Boss intake manifold. He stated decreased low end torque when it was added. I didn't hear you mention it. Other than increased high end range what would be the purpose?
I haven't noticed it...I'm sure on the chart it may show it. The other purpose is looks better under the hood...gives more hp up top where you actually wind it out...and higher red line RPM. The low end torque isn't really noticed to me but that's just my butt dyno
Also heard the boss heads or long tube headers can counter act the torque loss.

Haven’t put it on the dyno and don’t have a before dyno. I notice it at the top for sure. Imagine having vtec on a 5.0

What gears do you have? I have the 3.73 and hit 60 at the top of 2nd. I’ve measured it with the track apps and my best time on my 14 gt track pack was 5.0 seconds flat. Surface was not the best, I’m sure on a track it can improve a little. That’s bone stock btw
Yeah I’m wondering about the accuracy of the app too cause I coulda sworn my speedo said 62 on 2nd at 7300. I have 3.55 but going to a 20” tire made it an effective of 3.73

Jacob...now that you’ve had the Boss manifold for 7 months, do you notice any issue with low-end torque loss? I have a 2012 GT. Looking to install the mani, but i am curious about the low-end tq. Do you regret buying it? Even if you notice low end tq, overall, would you say the Boss mani is better than the stock s197 mani?
Definitely worth buying it. I haven’t really noticed any torque loss because I don’t gun it from 2500 rpm and expect it to break loose lol
Jacob R. Doty lol. I’ve been going back and forth with the idea of getting the 302. I noticed that when people were on you post 7 months ago, a few people were saying you needed to get long tubes to compliment the Boss mani. Do you believe long tubes will help with torque loss, and if so, do you plan to get long tubes? I already have long tubes, so if that’s the remedy, I should be set.

My 2013 GT locks me out of second gear when I try and do a pull in it. I have no clue why but do u know what I could do to solve that issue?

I had the same issue in my 12 with lockout. I have the boss intake and have never had an issue with the new clutch. Went with the Exedy single disc 07807CSC and it rocks. My mechanic told me it’s what Roush used on their S197’s. I’ve run it at the 1/4 mile about 10 runs and a the tail of the dragon. 1/2 the cost ($600ish for the kit) and can handle up to 498 ft pounds of torque at the wheels. Still smooth on the street with only slightly firmer pedal. Plan on running a Vortech V-3 next year and this clutch should handle it like a champ.
The one true cure for ALL the MT82 woes is a Tremec. Standard on the Shelbys and should have been an option for the Boss and GTs.
I'm still so surprised that 5.0s in 2018+ have not switched to the TR6060. What a joke

Actually if you do a clutch/shifter on the Mt-82 then it really makes a world of difference. I’m boosted with a RST and MGW X-spec and it definitely gets down!
Youre vacuum might need a clean for a better idle. I had the same problem when I was upshifting too. It’d stay up in Rpms instead of dropping when pressing the clutch

Man I think you can swap a cluster out of a premium car. I honestly like the look of the 13-14 track apps better than my 18 Gt. The 13-14 has the pony on the screen
I had the same problem with idle when I installed my boss manifold on my 2011 mustang , but I’ve been told the boss manifold idles a lot higher than the stock manifold also
Actually before I started this time I adjusted and retightened the Airaid cold air and I think maybe that’s why it didn’t do it lol
Were you able to fix it? I installed the Boss mani and the RPMs will sometimes hang @ a higher RPM before dropping to idle after a few seconds.
That’s normal for cold start. Your car did it stock too. It’s just now that you changed it you’re overly attentive haha
do you have 3.73? a 3.31 dont need to shift to 3rd to get to 60.
I have 3.55 but with the 20s it makes it a 373
My 19' GT 5.0 gets to 60 in 2nd.
Aftermarket clutch and shifter takes away lock out. Ive just installed a stage 3 exedy clutch and barton shifter. Chirps tires in every gear and no lock out.
Yep! I’ve got the MGW and I’ll be doing a clutch here soon I think. It will help protect the mt82 synchros too. That’s why I don’t want to force it in right now
Phasers are not locking for the cold start. Causing the hunting.
I have the same issue with my stock 14 gt

OK, I could use some clarification here - I watch your channel because I just bought a '13 GT and you are incredibly knowledgeable about these cars. However, I must be missing something here Man - far as I know, wheel diameter will not change your gear ratio, its tire height (outside diameter, to be specific). So my question is, are your 20" tires smaller on the OD? My guess is no, and if not, then youd still have an effective 3.55. If they're taller (larger OD) then you're actually going to be closer to 3.31 as I understand it.

I used an online calculator but I know I’m working with about a 28” tire size. So the 19 to a 20 definitely does make a difference in the effective gear ratio. Try it yourself brotha! I’m not the best in the understanding of it. I just typed in what I had and what I have now and it gave me something like 3.7368 so 3.73
Also in regards to 3:31; I definitely do not have that lol. I raced moms 5.0 on closed course ;) and I just gave her bus lengths and hit the end of my gear a lot faster than her. You can even tell when we’re both in 6th at 70. Two different RPMs
