Zappa is my favourite electric guitar player . His playing is endlessly original and moves me emotionally , unlike so many theoretically superior players
Not too many players could solo like that and maintain thematic continuity as well. His musical knowledge helped to make his guitar work so utterly unique
Zappa spoke through his guitar. His phrasing is what is coming out of his mind at the moment. Coffee and Winston cigarettes. Thank you for posting his performances
Terrific to hear. I was at the Halloween 10/31 night show, second row one seat left of center with a good friend. This was perhaps the most amazing concert I had and have ever scene. It was great to see Roy Estrada in the space suit...My friend and I stayed completely straight even though booze and weed was being passed around freely. We didn't want to forget a second of this what with being so close to "the action". One part I will never forget was during an extended solo, FZ walked slowly from one side of the stage to the other stopping for a few second each step to stare into the eyes of an audience member. When he looked at me, I stared right back. It was a profound moment. I was fortunate enough to have seen FZ many times, but this particular show was my favorite. He remains one of my favorite musicians and a continued influence on me as a musician and guitarist. Inspirational.
You are inlitened with the true genius of Frank Zappa we are very lucky to have herd and seen this great man so pass it on tell people to go see Zappa on Zappa if they have a chance and they will be inlitened also to this pure genius peace bro and fellow musican I'm in Lynnwood Washington I'm a vocalist and drummer peace
This man, he is possessed, but by a multitude of abilities character traits and ambitions. Mysteriously powered by an yet to be determined energy source.
Up here in Oregon on the back patio with the dogs listening to FZ... It's dark fires are going and really enjoying this, love Frankie's guitar to the core... Always have
I love you man! I've been looking for all these solos all in one place. I was at every Zappa show when he came to NY in the 70's. The most underrated guitarist in history.
These solos were playing and the lady, from whom I rent, came out to get something and I, sarcastically said, "I put this on for you." She replied, "that's not music, that's racket." It was said in the same tone as the lady in Joe's Garage..."Turn it down." I knew then how great it really is.
Frank was the whole ancalota he played every kind of music and sometimes I one song and he made it sound good ,when I first listened to freak out in 66 I was hooked for life, great minds think alike ,now his son is carrying the torch and he's freaking great at it ,I went to a Dawezel Zappa on Zappa concert 12 years ago and I was elated but not constapated and it wasn't over rated in my mind it never faded it was like a dynamo hum love ya Frank Zappa Rip keep going dawezel don't let the music fade away the ledgon of Frank should be carried on for ever peace bros n sisters pray for ukraine
Upon discovering Zappa, I enjoy listening to his solos far more than Hendrix's live stuff. Hendrix redefined lead guitar in a way Zappa certainly did not, and no one else has uncorked a solo like "Voodoo Chile." But I can listen to Zappa's solos for hours and hours. Prince is the only other lead guitarist I enjoy listening to as much or more.
From Mumbai with Love. With a little help from my friends (puffers)I was introduced to the music of Mr Frank Zappa. Fell in love at first hear. I was 17 year young then. I begged, borrowed Rearly found here Zappa music .It was only available with like minded buddies so recorded them on spools, cassettes and then cds and enjoyed them for many years till now. With fantastic channels like U Tube I listen to even many fabulous pieces today age 71 years young. If any Zappa fan comes to Mumbai I invite all to have puffs with me Blown.Good Luck. Happy listening and seeing Zappa on screen. My only regret in life is that I was not lucky to see him play Live with his paraphenlia. May be in afterlife. Fingers crossed Love and thanks to the down loaders.Good job you do not know how many freaks like me are blessinbg You. Thanks.
Likewise, I got Frank early, 16, am soon 68, massive beautiful gigs, albums, mythology, directly from my heart to you, Jean Luc, evocative and beautiful,
Me too. I'm 55 but at 16 the solo in Yo Mama did it for me but Apostrophe was my introduction to Zappa and I've loved his music since. So grateful I was able to experience a live show in Boston in 1984. Memorable, Amazing! Thanks for sharing this!!!
I have been a zappa fan since the 70s. Had the privilage to see several shows. New York City the Paladium halloween! What a show, not just a concert a freakin SHOW!!!! You just gotta know hes in a good place. After what he gave us he more than deserves it. Thanks Mr Zappa, your the s#!t perioud
Frank was always amazing but these are superlative! Steve Vai had mentioned Franks playing on these occasions as being outstanding in an interview I listened to. Then I was fortunate enough to stumble on this... Thank you Sir for your efforts!
Thanks again so much, br1tag. The very nature of your posts renders them unique and unmissable. This is perhaps the best of all of yours I've listened to thus far. I was a fan of FZ's guitar playing before I knew why (& before I understood his music anything like as much as I do now, i.e. a little bit); ever since I first heard "Hot rats" aged 12, I've loved his playing. His rhythmic approach, melodic sensibility, tone and attack are without parallel. I shall certainly invest in the Halloween box as soon as I'm able. Wooooooo! Scary!
Filet Of Frank,..Boneless Skinless ,...It`s not just for breakfast ANYMORE!! What a treat to behold here in this New Year,... the Two Oh Two Oh. On a scale of 1-10 this is 110.... Thanks br1tag
Nice work friend, just found this, Frank o' phile forever, his favourite tool the Gibson SG, yet virtuoso on any other. For effect, tone, and all the other nuances of a master player, just always beautiful to hear him, ....
I always wondered if this sentence "Shut up 'n play yer guitar" was ordered to Zappa from a journalist or from audience members... Thanks for the information!!
And then after that he used to play at Stony Brook College out on Long Island I don't think I ever missed a year that he played there those were the days shout out to weeping Beech Park Flushing New York yeah man
some of the best guitar work I've ever heard fz do.... 77 and 78 were the years. In my mind Terry bozzio was the best drummer for Frank's Apple out of all of his drummers. Vinny Coliuta was the most talented drummer overall, but for zappa music it has to be Tiny Terry Ted bozzio. In this order=Bozzio, Coliuta, Wakerman, Thompson and Humphrey, Dunbar, Travers ,Logeman, Gordon & black.
There wasn't a Halloween run show I wasn't at,from 74 on,the Pier, the Ritz,3 of the 4 Christmas shows,Port Chester NY,New Haven CT in 75,the Beacon NYC 88.The best was when I was 3rd row standing right in front of Frank at the Ritz.

Love frank Zappa music and 79
Noone plays the guitar like Frank did...and I'm happy to say I'm old enough to have seen him play. Thanks for putting these together.
Me too. Five Times!
Discorer this Zap performance in a Cambodia pub with my headphone and a Angkor beer is a real pleasure !
This is brilliant - wonderful to listen to, thank you for sharing. Zappa was a genius, truely unique, a man of taste and wit
I love you man! I've been looking for all these solos all in one place. I was at every Zappa show when he came to NY in the 70's. The most underrated guitarist in history.
Saw Zappa 14 different times between 1971 and 1985 in Michigan, Texas, Florida. My
guitar hero. Great pics!
lucky you
First time hearing this, I guess, no air play on radio, sounds New Orleanish, jazzy, horns, bells, very relaxing at times

The music algorithms have been pretty spot on, so far.
You've gotta love everything about that room: massive Zappa collection, cool hi-fi and t.v. What more could you need?
Frank Zappa is the reason i bought an Gibson SG 1975, i have never regret it 😎
Still have it mint condition, Cherry red.

@Brian Irving - I think FZ would have had good results even with a toy guitar in hand! 😊
For sure, he would grip and extract best sound from any instrument, especially for his orchestral pieces, massive and diverse, uncle meat etc?

I was at all these shows I can be reached at Bellevue psycho ward
Still recovering
Zappa the king of rock
if only they knew (they being the old fm rock stations in the 70s and 80s)
this music is very relaxing!
Absolutely, (free). Frank rove any and everywhere, no limits, noodle till the cows come home, or muffin man appears, just honest ..
These were such excellent parts of the show that I began to routinely scream out at Frank. ''Shut up and play the guitar.'' Guess he heard us.
I always wondered if this sentence "Shut up 'n play yer guitar" was ordered to Zappa from a journalist or from audience members... Thanks for the information!!
