The M10-M Wetzlar is my first choice for b&w photography. I also do quite a bit of cropping with my 28 mm Summicron. Like its all black stealthy look.

Awesome video Mike. The images are great. Glad you Mom joined us. I might know where you can get a M10M…..

5:40 Fortunately we got the legend 🙃
I just bought a second hand M10M. No doubt I'll love it even more than my M262. This sensor seems amazing.
    Thanks for sharing.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I far prefer Acros on a Fuji body than the Monochrom (borrowed from a buddy)...

Nice video, and great pictures. The Leica M fits you well. I understand what you mean with the focusing, I struggle with it as well. I did a recent video practicing zone focus. Think I'm getting the hang of it. keep up the great videos.

One way to focus faster with M cameras is to trust the rangefinder patch. Aim so the centre of the image gives you the desired exposure and half press the shutter to lock. Now aim at the subject and adjust focus until the patch lines up, and LEAVE it. Do NOT weave back and forth to be sure of focus, just trust that it's right. Now recompose and shoot. Alternatively, acquire focus first, then exposure, then shoot. The key is to trust the rangefinder, don't rack back and forth to confirm, just acquire and trust.

I’ll have to check that video out. I could definitely use some practice with zone focusing!

@raksh9 Definitely. Back and forth doesn't help. For me, also reset to infinity before each shot.

Good lord these images are sweet. I had the chance to hold the M11 in a store a few weeks ago and in two fires of the shutter, I understood the same thing you're understanding lol I say certain cameras feel like tanks but these truly feel like tanks. I'm here for it and have also internally started a "one day account" haha! In regards to the daily journal approach, what things draw you away from the Fuji's (if any) when stacked against the M10M?

I’ll be honest not much can pull me from the fujis for daily life. But I definitely liked this one for the old school manual focus aspect. You can live in the moment longer (really wish I put that in the video now)

Love the images and am seriously considering picking one up but like you I'm not so keen (especially for street photography) to focus via the rangefinder so I'm curious if, in addition to zone focusing, you used Live View to focus and if so how well (or not well) that worked?

I didn't use live view too much on the street, but I tried it a few times while shooting slower paced stuff and it worked well. Not sure how it would work in fast paced shooting situations.

Which fast 64gb sd card do you recommend with Leica M10 monochrom?

I borrowed the camera from a friend, he had a ProGrade card in it. Not sure exactly which one.

This is just what I was looking for.
I've been shooting a Leica m7 as my "life camera" since 2009--and I have been completely and utterly in love with the m7 with HP5. I've lost count of how many rolls I've put through it. Sadly though, with life comes change, children in fact. I can no longer develop and scan my own film (I will still shoot film but not "everyday").
I've been looking at all the monochrom options. The one thing that worries me--the blown out whites. Is this a common issue for the monochrom sensor? It's kind of a deal breaker for me :< the camera's photographs that looks decent are the CCD monochroms. It even looks like film.
These photographs look amazing as well! have you used a red filter on the camera?

      @MikeHallman  4 місяці тому +1

Thank you! I completely understand life changes. And I love the M7. As for the blown out whites, I'm not sure if that's a common issue or not. I found that underexposing by a stop was perfect for saving the highlights (as the monochrom can't retain them hardly at all)
