      I don't understand the math. If a sensor with red and green and blue goes monochrome. When it goes monochrome does it have 1/3 less resolution. Or does the going to monochrome average all the pixels. That's what I would do. I wouldn't turn 3 or 5 pixels or whatever it is. Into the monochrome value of those pixels. I would look at the pixels nearby. So if there was a gradient. As I turned by 3 to 5 pixels into monochrome. They would not be a blob with one gray luminous value. They would take on and the gradient nearby. Do you know what I mean?

    • @Ruylopez778
      @Ruylopez778 4 роки тому +4

      @@garycraggs9953 It's not an M10D. It has a new 40mp sensor (compared to XT3 26mp)
      Bigger sensor than APSC
      3 stops more dynamic range than XT3
      ISO to 100,000
      You can't 'simulate' that with a Fuji filter.
      And when selling or trading it in, it will be worth 5x the XT3.

This reminds me of a previous masterpiece of yours when you did the Goodfellas "you are a funny guy" remake. A major piano manufacturer just brought out a new piano. It's called the Stornway Monochrom piano. It has all the black keys missing. They put the price up to convince you that less is more. Now you can only play in the key of C major. Apparently it's a unique selling point. Thousands of "musicians" flocked to buy it, believing that removing the ability to modulate or play in all colours and keys was a benefit. And all the music journalists wrote rave reviews. In other news, pianists queued up to have their third and fourth fingers amputated. They argued that removing fingers enabled them to appreciate the remaining fingers better. Somehow, they felt it was more artistic.

    As a Leica owner with an M240, I have never really liked the external EVF. Not that it is not effective in helping to focus and compose a scene, because it is. Rather, that for me, it does away with the Rangefinder experience and becomes another mirrorless. And it's not that I would consider myself a purist (I own other mirrorless cameras), but rather that if you are to make a rangefinder, then keep it as a rangefinder and improve that optical viewfinder. Fujifilm did it, and at a significantly lower price point. Leica has the technology, but chooses not to do it, placing that EVF bulb on top of the camera. They should change that to keep the camera low-profile and true to the rangefinder form factor.

    Are they edited or out of camera? Look at 4:51 as example the snow in sunlight should have more lights and brilliance.
    For me a 35mm Foveon colour sensor would be the best digital B&W camera. Sharpness and details like a monochrome sensor but flexibility in conversion from colour to B&W.

    What genius! A black and white only digital without the stigma of an affordable price. Makes nice jewelry, though.

    Beautiful camera for sure if one's finance allows but I don't think there is an existing printer which can transfer all those exact equivalent numbers/scales of the the gray tones or shades of this camera produces on a piece of printed paper. Am I wrong? And can our eyes really see them if it exists?

    I think you missed the lack of Bayer filter, which is the MAIN BENEFIT of a Monochrom!!

    It's interesting to see that at 1:44 both f8 and f3.4 with same lens has same depth of field. Or maybe something else is going on. Please correct me.

    I use an old Fujifilm x10 and love it
    I paid £30 and get wonderful results.
    I painted a red dot on it!
    28 to 110mm zoom. Optical viewfinder.
    I have a Zorki 4k with the awesome Jupiter 8 50mm f2 lens.
    £40. I painted a red dot on it too!.
    I used a Leica M2 with a 50mm 2.8 collapsible Elmar lens back in the early 1960s with Ilford Fp3 film.

    The monochrome subsensor on the Leica P9 wasn't enough for me. I want to get my daily carry (camera that is) debayered.

    specs on xt4 just released by fuji. awesome video....but RECORD LIMIT 20 minutes and 30 minutes. Deal Breaker. you guys figure out way around that record limit on new xt4?

    • @martysender5539
      @martysender5539 4 роки тому

      yes i know. my question is how do you get around that? I know it's been done with other cameras. Its a deal killer for me. No unlimited recording? bad for event shooting

    • @martysender5539
      @martysender5539 4 роки тому

      yep no limit my gh5. xt4 looks great, but 30 minute per clip time limit? DEAL BREAKER

    • @martysender5539
      @martysender5539 4 роки тому

      @Bobby Brady of course i edit. but I want a camera that shoots without time limits for many reasons....there has got to be a hack to lift the 30 minute limit....I think I read that Fuji was looking for a way to sell the camera in USA w/o EU mandated 30. well thanks for your sympathetic comments, but
      with a 30 minute record limit, I ain't interested.

    B/W on film makes a lot more sense, on digital other than getting cool looking low light shots and perfectly neutral B/W photos there's just not much else for creativity reasons. I love to tweak colour contrast with all the colour information from a Bayer sensor.

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd 4 роки тому

      Kian J your statement makes no sense. This is literally he closest thing to B&W film today. You can’t tweak the color information from this camera because it does not have a bayer filter. The sensor can only see light and dark. This is also why it is sharper.

    • @kian8382
      @kian8382 4 роки тому

      @@EDHBlvd When you called my statement "makes no sense", have you considered with film you lack the option to do colour contrast adjustments from colour film source to output to black, which makes B/W film photography better for B/W film photography because it's a different workflow that you just use colour filers when shooting B/W film. With digital it's a different workflow, now stop pretending B/W digital is the closest to B/W film because it isn't.
      Oh, and FYI, I know without a bayer filter it can resolve more, but know this, I said "creativity reasons". How do you mark up your sharper images BTW?

    Really would love a more affordable brand to make a monochrome camera. An A7M or a X100M would be ideal.
