The schools in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well as parts of the Yukon, Northwest and Nunavut Territories, follow what is called the western Canadian protocol the personal finance unit is taught in the two main streams (AP & GE), Ontario and Québec have similar content. The Maritimes and British Columbia have similar finance units. My wife regularly brings in Intuit, revenue Canada and financial planners to her classroom. Just a bit of trivia, there used to be a grade 13 in parts of Canada, it was really just first year university or technical school depending on the stream. Cheers from Canada.
There are some classes one would believe students should learn while in school. Home Ed- cooking, cleaning, ect. Understanding finances- control one's expenses, understanding how to drive by means of locating with your eyes instead of relying on apps.
Like Staci Said. They should have a class called LIFE SKILLS where they teach things like making a budget, doing taxes, basic contracts like rental agreements and car loans. Cooking skills, sewing, basic first aid, etc. The things that EVERYONE will need to know in the read world. Require THIS instead of stuff like Chemistry or Calculus that the majority of people will NEVER use.
At school we had compulsory classes of sewing, cooking, home economics, and elective classes like metalwork and woodwork etc, was really good cause it taught useful skills. Finished school in1996 so a little while ago.
hey you guys, I just saw this video of yours 4 months later, but the question "What don't they teach in school that they should?". I took a class on advertising in the 8th grade, it teaches you how to recognize who is likely telling lies for their own gain vs truth.
Philosophy, which involves how to think and not what to think, is a huge help in keeping people's minds more within their own control. And finances, as you said.
You guys might want to look up scenes of Unhappily Ever After, a show that once competed with Married With Children for ratings. Specifically, look up the character Mr. Floppy. So worth it.
Definitely finance.. During my senior year, I couldn't pass Algebra 2 and wasn't planning on going into college, so they put me in an alternative math class that actually seem to have some financial aspects to the math problems they gave. It was a lot easier for me than algebra. I can't remember the name of the class though.
When I went to high school. Economics was a required class, so was one year of shop class for boys and Home Economics for girls. Other required classes were a semester of History, a semester of Civics, one year of Math, one year of Science, one year of English, two semesters of Literature, One semester of Greek Mythology, three years of P.E., everything else was electives.
Personal finance is what they don't teach. To any and all reading this, read the books "The richest man in babylon" and "Rich dad poor dad" It will help you greatly in life. The younger you are the better.
You should look up Al Bundy's "Yo Mama Jokes". He did it on In Living Color, another awesome show where J-Lo and Jim Carry got the awesome pushes for their careers.

@@justinandstacireact3906 Here's another piece of trivia not well known.
