For people who don't remember or who have not watched Married With Children. Below are the start of each clip and the scenario: A couple of the clips were self explanatory, so I just put "Clip shows what it's about" 1:30 That is the very first episode of Married with Children 2:38 Al is hanging out at his friends house as he doesn't want to go home. Friend has 2 stewardess and he is in the bedroom with the other and now the other lady wants to sleep with Al 4:56 Marcy has been having dreams of Al lately and told Peggy, who then told Al. You probably figured that out in the rest of that clip. 7:10 Clip shows what it's about 10:16 Clip shows what it's about 13:12 There is a new mall in town taking away business from Al's mall. Part of the promotion during Christmas is having a Santa parachute down to the new mall, but the wind took Santa and smacked him into the backyard of the Bundys. The police do not want to bring out the dead Santa in front of the kids, so Al is asked to dress up and go tell the kids Santa is fine. 15:20 Al gets a check left by a dead relative, so they decide to spend it at a fancy restaurant. Problem is, Al left the money at home and had Kelly and Bud go drive home to get the money. However, Kelly wants tickets to see a band she likes and decides to take the money instead to buy the tickets, leaving Al and Peggy to fend for themselves as the restaurant wants them to pay the bill, but they have no money. 17:23 Al decides to get a family photo at the beach. Problem is, when they get there, the kids scatter and he cant get the photo and then leave. So they hang out at the beach for awhile while Bud and Kelly have a contest who can get a boyfriend/girlfriend first. While Al gets proposition by a old school buddy of his, a gold digger.
Married with Children premiered in 1987. I was 17 years old. We loved this show! This was such a great show to show a family that was not perfect to oppose The Cosby Show, where they were too perfect. I'm 2 years older than Christina Applegate. Every hairstyle and coring Kelly had in the late 80s and 90s, I had too! What is so sad is how she is struggling with multiple sclerosis today.
I love that Al and Peggy, hell, even the whole family, could dish it out hard on each other but if someone else makes fun of the Bundys... no way lol. And Al standing up for Peggy was some of my favorites. One of my fav eps is Al working out so he could satisfy her in bed lol.
The library episode has the best monologue in the whole series. It’s Al telling the librarian that his life is shit but he is a winner for not giving up and hanging himself.
@@KsinDax The flaw in that was his character in Miami Vice comments suicide at the end of the show...there for he would not have lived on with Peg and the kids. I get it though, sounds fun. Gary wasn't given him the $$ and Peg over spent all the time. I felt sorry for Al a lot.
Married with Children got made in the first place as a direct response to network TV getting too safe and tame in the 80s compared to the bolder sitcoms of the 70s. And it took a network being created for the exact purpose of being a renegade network-- that was Fox's niche well through the 90s and into the 2000s-- to get it on the air at all. And outside forces fought LIKE HELL to get it pulled from the air, and it just created free advertising for the show, as millions tuned in to see what the fuss was about... and _loved it!_ EVERY form of popular media gets too uptight and sanitized, audiences get bored, the medium becomes stagnant, and an up and coming rebel scratches the audience's itch for something more real. We're just at the transition point of another cycle. Shows that break the rules and do comedy "that wouldn't fly today" _WILL_ be made again. Nobody likes killjoys, nobody likes to be lectured, especially in their entertainment.
The kid who wanted the pony (Edan Gross) was back in another episode where he played young Al Bundy in the school library in the episode "He Thought He Could".
The Santa Suit was from a dead mall Santa. His parachute failed and he plummeted to death in the Bundy's back yard. Al had to get those kids to leave before they remove the dead man from their house.
I think you would love the humor of the British/Irish sitcom "Father Ted", there were only about 24 episodes and a Christmas special so it wouldn't take too long to watch the entire show. Absolutely hilarious show.
Yall are so right, . Its like. . Old school hip hop. . "you rappers are disrespectful and degrading to women" . . New school female hip hop artists. "Hold my beer"
you are aware that Al married Peggy LITTERALLY a shotgun wedding right, He got Peggy pregnant with Kelly, and Peggy's dad held him at the muzzle of a shotgun during the wedding service! you did know that right?
This show was the best sitcom ever on tv! Fun Fact: When the show first aired it was not doing well at all. Then.. some Karen in Connecticut found her son watching it and laughing at the crude humor, and Karen started rallying against the show. She made such a fuss about it that people across the country started watching, wondering what was the show about. It became a huge hit!! The producers of the show sent Karen a fruit basket and a thank you note.
Great point in the beginning. Married with Children episodes wouldn't be able to air today because of the PC police, but, they have hit reality shows about pregnant teenagers, a guy with multiple wives, etc.
Fun review. Everyone needs to remember, that humour is a quality of intelligence. So you commented that they couldn't make "Married With Children" today, but 35yrs later the show is still funny. Therefore what can we assume of the people writing TV shows today 😉😉
I remember manually turning our old satellite dish to watch this show. The only shows I think the network had were MWC and The Tracy Ullman Show. Better and simpler times.
That first clip is the pilot episode. All their personalities developed and changed and got more intense over the 11 seasons it was out. Peggy eventually stopped doing anything around the house and her hair and clothes got crazy. And Al started out kind of angry but eventually just became a loveable looser 😊
The creators of Married With Children were told that under one condition they can have the show produced, and that was to every once in a while, it must be affirmed that Al and Peggy really love each other. That wasn't too much to ask for and I think it was a good idea.
First off I love you guys. Keep it up and never part. Married with children was a satire of real life and stands to this day except for some of the dialogue of course. It was written as the things we wish we could say. But in satire form. Written for every American because you had Michelle G. And Ron Leavitt. Now this is important and special because we have a Jewish American and a Black American. Both American but with different sub cultural differences. And yet the show is prominently Boston (I think) white. It's style is funny for any American who is not sensitive to comedy. It is and to me one of the greatest shows ever. I like your reactions to old stuff. Just to throw it out there what about some other great shows. Bernie Mac. The Wayne brothers show. Mash. Cheers...
The reason why Al is so disgusted with Peggy is that she's constantly spending all his money to the point where he has to juggle finances to figure out how to pay the bills, doesn't cook, doesn't clean, spends her days laying on the couch eating bon-bons while watching shows like Oprah, neglects the kids, and is overall an emotional and financial drain on him. There is one episode where, I think it's Father's Day, she actually gets off her backside and starts acting more domestically. That entire episode, Al can't keep his hands off her. Meanwhile their son is a complete degenerate, their daughter is extremely lacking in her brain power while being a floozy for the streets and they are constantly at each other's throats as well. But GOD HELP any outsider who comes at them: then it's all hands on deck for the ass-whoopin' that's about to commence. In one episode, the daughter Kelly sees she's being two-timed by her boyfriend (played by David Borneaz better known as Angel form the Buffyverse) while the whole family is at the theater. She confronts the cheating boyfriend, doesn't make a scene, calmly walks back to her family, and says "Daddy? Beat him up." INSTANTANOUSLY, Al says "of course, pumpkin", jumps to his feet, and proceeds to beat the brakes off the boyfriend.
My wife and myself banter at each other like this just fun. We love to do it in front of people who don’t really know us. We use Bundys material a lot. We get great reactions 😂

I do love your channel and I think it is wonderful that you are both talking about how TV and comedy has devolved in the past 10-20 years. I find it sad that we have to look to your observational content to watch you comment on classic comedy, when there is no new, ground-breaking, well-written, insightful, controversial, heart-warming, touching, realistic, thought-provoking comedy shows like we had in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and early 2020s. Comedy now is so forced, politically correct, infantile, sterile with awful canned laughter tracks and 2D characters. I feel sorry for younger generations, as they will not and do not know what true comedy is. How are we getting worse, not better?
Season 1 was different. It appeared they loved each other and had respect while since season 2 they were way more bad to each other. Quiet a sad change in my eyes but the series is still great. And as we actually learn later on is that they were married in a Shotgun Wedding.
Please do All in the Family. Archie Bunker was crazy. If you are not familiar with All in the Family, The Jeffersons lived next door to the Bunkers before moving on up.
Al Bundy. I think was a new Archie Bunker character. Do more All in the family it's the grandfather of modern sitcoms not to mention their many all in the family spin offs.✌️❤️

Fun fact: The boy who sits in Al's lap is the same kid who played a young Al in a flashback, in the overdue library book episode. 🙂
Yeah, now I notice :)
The library episode has the best monologue in the whole series. It’s Al telling the librarian that his life is shit but he is a winner for not giving up and hanging himself.
Also, the “what did you bring us” kid is David Faustino’s brother.
I'm watching the Miami Vice series now from the 80's and guess who was on an episode....Ed O'Neill; boy he is outstanding actor.
He was Al Bundy undercover. How You explain that he can afford of dodge, Peg, two kids and 2 dogs from Gary's shop :)

My favorite all time, i watched every episode in original tv
"Yesterday you called me a liar"
"I did not."
"Oh so you're calling me a liar today."
Lmao. You two are awesome.
I do that to my kids everytime I catch them lying about something simple. It's such a simple way to get them to tell on themselves.
Who knew in 80's that Al Bundy would be a better father figure than Dr. Huxtable
Are you saying you dont like Dr. Huxtable's barbecue sauce? lol
I knew.

Everyone can relate to Al. He is the average common Man with the usual chaos and instability in a typical American family.

Hey tee and t yall should do an reaction to all in the family sitcom ❤
You should try a good British sitcom. I would recommend “Fawlty Towers” or “Blackadder”. Both are classics of comedy.
How many people notice the family truckster in the opening credits a shot that was borrowed from the movie Vacation.
I never thought I could love a sitcom as much as 'Friends' until 'Last Man Standing' came along...love Tim Allen's dry humor!
You should try the British sitcom ( with the punkest entrance in tv history ) : " THE YOUNG ONES ",.
An anarchist, a hippie, a punk and a crook all live together...
( and maybe you can see MOTÖRHEAD play " The ♠ " in an episode ). ;)
Would love to see home improvement reactions.
you are so right, you cannot say some things but still you can show nudity and violence... which is far more hurting than words...
In 2022 it was announced They are trying to do an animated reboot, voiced by the original cast members.
Most don't know but he is at least a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ and may be higher ranked now.
No one ever seems to notice Peggy is looking at the young man (17:45) walking past her whilst Al is leering at the girl.
My favorite episode is Reverend Al and The No Ma'am Church!!
😂😂😂 Married with Children!

I feel privileged to have grown up with shows like this, the 80s and 90s were anti-pc culture in its prime.
