This channel was created to promote all aspects of Northern Soul. Wonderful music, the fashions, the events, the venues, the dancing, and most of all the people and community that come together ALL OVER THE COUNTRY to enjoy this lifestyle.
My name is Ralph I recently retired having reached the landmark age of 65 “what do I do now ?” is the question I asked myself. What do I enjoy the most well that was easy to answer I love to dance and I love to listen to Northern Soul this love of the above started what seems a lifetime ago in the late 60’s when I discovered a small dark and dirty place called THE CATACOMBS then followed by THE TORCH for those with really good memories UP THE JUNCTION and the scene was cast that would frame my life.

Barry Smith. I was drinking with him and his wife in Bojangles in Tennerife 15/09/22. Great guy. We actually danced to The Snake.

I am from US and I just came across this type of dancing it looks fun to do. That guy seem as though he was really enjoying the music with the dancing. I had looked up this type of this dancing and I was very amazed. It started out as an underground Soul dancing in the 1960's. I had watch the Southern and the Northern dancers it was fun to watch them enjoying themselves young and the old together.
Obviously a guy that was into back in the 70s.
There must be thousands of people that haven't been into the scene for 40 years but they still remember all the songs and dance moves like it was yesterday.
I don't know him, but he is here to dance, sing and enjoy himself no matter what any body else thinks, good on ya. One very happy guy.
Such a joy to watch too! Thank you. Your man is clearly having a grand old time and making everyone watching this smile at his pure abandonment as he enjoys the moment. And long may he and all the dancers continue to do so.

I'm not a particular fan of Northern Soul in spite of having very eclectic taste in music. However, I loved seeing all these guys dancing and feeling free to do so. In the haunts I used to frequent, blokes only ever danced with a girl in their arms. It's so nice to see these fellers expressing themselves and yes, the joyful character in the white top epitomises it

Oh my days. Not sure if this is Butlins Northern Soul weekend at Skegness last September 2018 but me & my hubby sat on the side of the stage watching this guy for ages just smiling watching him smiling. Love it ❤️

I saw him dancing in center stage and as soon as I saw him I started smiling. He is brilliant he was dancing with his lady and he was so in to the music singing to her and she was smiling... He radiates a smile...

What other music, is so obsessive, makes you feel so happy, and gets Into your heart blood and soul, as we see this guy. Makes me happy to watch these Soul Boys and girls enjoying themselves. I can't think of another kind of music that doesn't discriminate, no matter who you are, bringing people together. Once stung, happily there is no cure. Thanx for sharing.

I’m from Nottingham,in the 60s you had to meet @the beachcomber pub,all my mates had scooters me a Honda sports(a mod On greaser.)the best clubs in Notts for soul were the boat,the Brit & Union I met some of best in the world,they weren’t cool,they Arctic my coolest were the four tops ,they were cryogenic.dennis(Dino) Carroll Radford Nottingham living in the Emerald Isle soul brother
I always associate Northern Soul with Lincolnshire as I remember dancing to it at the Riverside Club, Stamford, Lincs ( and other discos nearby) in the early to mid 70's, even attended an All Nighter in Peterborough where we were locked IN the building! No coincidence that this video is from Skeggy, Lincs either! My (Southern bred) wife describes my NS dancing as a frog in a washing machine. Stupid cow!

I love all sorts of music but I will be honest never heard of Northern Soul ...... but it’s like the 60’s meets the 80’s with the dance moves of Ska (beat/madness for the joy). His moves and his friends are awesome 😎❤️❤️

Only Northern Soul dancers don’t need partners, they are quite happy dancing on their own.

Just got back from Skegness soul weekender today, brilliant place for us oldies to relive our youth, 3 days of forgetting how miserable life can be, never seen so many geriatrics dancing like they will die tomorrow, booking up for next year as soon as we get our pensions😆😆
Still got the soul and spirit of the early to mid 70s. When mixed with the gurning there was loadsa smiles,singing to the DJ and thunderous claps. More power to the old boy, Anyone stop to think he might not appreciate being the subject matter on some guys YT channel?
I spoke to Barry personally He loves it he to me his brother was in Benidorm and rang him up to tell him they were shoeing the video in the bar he couldnt believe it and thanked me at Skeegy where he asked for a photo
