If you feel the need to be negative or derogatory the comments will be removed. The wonderful music, the fun, and friendship you find in the scene, the events, the venues, the dancing, and most of all the people and community that come together ALL OVER THE COUNTRY to enjoy this lifestyle.
Guy with the brown trousers was my favourite, glided around as though he was on ice, true northern soul
Yeh mine too. The other ones look like children dancing at a wedding 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@justred5164 I agree nm,ua
Yes guy in brown trousers showed the other two contestants how it’s done, I bet the atmosphere was great 👍🇬🇧
My favourite too.
Me too…extra Cool
The guy in the dark brown trousers is the best , he can dance . He brings back memories of my time at Wigan Pier . He has Northern Soul running through his veins . Pure poetry how he moves.
Wigan Pier? Not the Casino then.
@@cartimandua_ a Freudian slip , I was on Blackpool pier when I wrote that ..used to like the Twisted Wheel in Manchester too. I blame senile moments !
He was definitely the most authentic.
Definitely, I used to envy folks that could move like that
*I Can Guarantee you that He DOESN'T Have a Soul!!!!* 😒
The guy in brown is excellent.Proper Northern soul guy 👏👏⭐
Brown pants was my favorite. He could really dance with a lot of soul and oh so cool. He had the best rhythm and never missed a beat. Really enjoyed watching all three.
Uhh…idk what I just saw. But it was pretty dope❤
Were they completely brown or was it just a sh1t stripe up the back ?
Either way brown pants did it for me too.
Yep definitely my favourite. He danced old school Northern Soul how it should be danced. Effortlessly cool
Older guy for SURE
IN TUNE
IN TIME
GREAT STYLE ❤️👈
Can only spin one way, you see this a lot. Liked his flow thought, pulling out the bigger moves towards the end.
They're all old🤷♂️
@@skipraida5497 And so you will be, my dearie. BUT YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO DANCE LIKE THEM. Cont.
In tune? Wtf does that mean, none of them were singing or playing instruments! 😂🤣💀
Guy in the brow pants was my favourite, really smooth and flowing, proper old school fantastic. I have to say well done to the younger generation who keep northern soul alive 👏👏👏👏
The older guy is how I remember my sisters friends dancing , he’s awesome ,
What a lovely thing too say.😁
Just how we did it. Wish I still could . It's amazing 🤩
The older man is fab and a worthy winner.
Guy with the brown pants has best rhythm. Smooth and limber even!
None of the have got rhythm. 😂😂😂
Can you do it then jax (thought not.)
@@jaxcoss5790 hey Jax you couldn't dance if your arse was on fire 🤣
Brown pants was cool and solid
I am an American dancer/choreographer and I was totally unaware of this style of competition. Thanks for posting it. Such great dancing.
It began in Wigan Casino in 1973 - 81. Which is why many of the audience are older people.
You are the only american l know that does not know everything.
@@chrisclarke7828 Whoa. Some of us our well regarded and loved by your people.
By accident, I ran into some old videos from the 70’s and fell in love! I love the freedom and creativity! I used to dance at the clubs all night. As a teen, even had a crowd around my partner and myself a couple of times. What fun! (I’ll be 72 in March.)
@@chrisclarke7828 I’m American, and I don’t know everything either! 😀
The man in the brown trousers was the best old school northern Soul glided on the dance floor not a foot 👣 wrong first class 👏💥👊🤩😍✊
Older guy for me embodies the Northern soul without being too technical
Ya, the shaved head guy was encroaching into “techno/dance” moves.
The older guy was best by far 👌
Totally agree. Brill!
Spot on 👊✌✌🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@lisasaxon7828 he was bloody annoying too !😂😂
Love the dancing just couldn't make out a word the master of ceremonies said
I am an older pure soul fan, but I have to say the gent that won was superb, he just glided and everything he did he made look effortless. Also I have to add, the lady was very very good, lots of great footwork. Well done to all three.
Couldn't agree more thank you for those positive comments
During the dance off there wasn't much between them but I couldn't take my eyes off of the guy who went on to win.
He was that good and deserved to win.
Same here. Watching it for the first time I was glued to him too. That tells you all you need to know regarding who was best.
Northern Soul has kept these folks in fantastic shape. Still able to throw down the moves. Absolutely stunning.
Older man in yellow was the clear winner. Super fit
Stunning hahaha don’t think so
Aint no Soul left in them old shoes dont kid yourself that gentleman was class well done sir
All the choreography in the world can't hold a candle to someone who is a natural and looks like he does it in his sleep.
I totally agree with you… he’s a natural 😎
Word. The guy with all the tattoos just looked as though he was there to show off! 🤨😖
The Guy in the brown slacks is the most traditional of the 3. He glides across the floor with his feet so smoothly. Just how I remember it.
I am overwhelmed with the desire to visit Northern England and see some of this amazing dancing in person.
I am American and I had never seen this type of dancing, I am loving it ❤❤❤❤
If you thought this was good imagine how good they where back in the day. The guy who won must be in his 60's
Northern soul is not just a dance, it is a way of life to people. I personally have loved the music for the last 50 years, I am 64 now and can still do the moves, that is when my body allows it though lol. Look for more Northern Soul on youtube, you will not be sorry.
the old guy that won [i am about the same age] i was so happy for him cos he can still dance for his supper lol, that means when we were younger we would dance to impress the ladies... looks like he's still cracking on, I only wish I could hv been there for a great fun night, but sadly one loives in Ireland, but watching you guys makes me yearn to go home... again great memories, long live wigan pier
😱 he’s NOT an “OLD” guy… well not to me 😂😂😂
I loved the bloke in the brown trousers, all three were good but he was the best in my opinion, ace dancer and I'd love to meet him on the dance floor one day ✊
They chose the best northern soul dancer for sure. Craig gave a masterclass in pure northern soul dancing. A thoroughly deserved winner and let's not forget our runner's up.
Older chap was doing the best moves keeping it original and cool 😎
older bet the lass was older
Yes - another crazy American here that never knew this existed until I saw the Northern Soul Movie. Brown pants is FANTASTIC!!! It’s like he got beamed in from the early 70’s to dance for us.
not crazy mate you give us james brown
@@yeezey750v3 true. But I’m around the same age as these participants and I can’t dance at all. These people really impressed me. Y’all have such a rich culture. Fantastic!
This makes me smile, love to see a bit of Northern Soul dancing. I wasn't aware this competition still happened.
I’m from Nottinghamshire and it’s a very big scene here to this day, thankfully. My other half loves northern soul and I love to see her dance. I’m very proud of her. Mandy Brinley, I love you. ❤️😎
I think the whole of Blackpool came out. This is what I miss about England from a true Canadian.🇨🇦
Wow! I have no idea why UA-cam recommended this to me but this was really fun to watch. Nice to see the UK continuing the soul tradition we started in the 1960's U.S. Thank you..😀👍❤
Sorry fella, but this is nothing like what anyone in the US started in the 60s. We took the soul tunes that didn't make it big anywhere in the US and made them massively popular in the north of England.
😆😆😆😆😆 Tradition YOU started? Brilliant! I do love a good laugh. Ktf
😂😂😂😂😂you didn’t start Northern soul !!
You knob
Listen mate, the US didn't start this. Stop trying to own everything.
Yes definitely the guy nearest the camera ' old skool dancing at his best, it's not easy in front of so many people and live streaming" my last visit to the tower and dance competition was with the old soul boys back in 2009" and loved every minute of it' especially when my old mate CHIPPY had won, so glad it's still going strong and long may it continue, KTF - PATCH,✊
Dont think any of Craigs kids (if he has any) would complain about Dad Dancing - this cat has the smoove-moves , well done
Same thing I thought! I'll bet he's the guy who brings the party at every wedding!
Well done Craig from Halifax 👏
Amazing moves by all 3 contestants but the winner, Dave from Halifax was superb. His moves looked effortless. Loved it. Thank you. Sharon from Wigan.
Im a girl from the sixties a londoner but i love watching northern soul dancing
OMG! British Isles, tattoos and dancing, what a party!
And tea, don't forget tea! 😉🤣
Wonderful community activity! Good dancing!
I got weirdly emotional while watching this, and I'm not sure why. I've only ever been to the London area of Britain, and I was an infant when Northern Soul dancing was at its biggest. Hella cool culture going on! Hooray.
Totally! The same here, except I've never even heard of Northern Soul before. And yet it was moving. I can only imagine the time, love, collaboration, practice, pain, joy that those three have put into their dancing. Lovely.
I felt it too!!
They all love what they do and good luck to them
The guy who won was as smooth as a bar of soap 👍
Touch of showman with a smooth rythmic flow =northern sole in my book
Halifax lad moved to the rythem and sound he represented Northern soul and still had the additional moves.top bloke.
Brown pants Craig was mesmerising to watch. Well done.
All three were fantastic, but the bold guy has the edge !!!! Huge thanks for your entertainment and you all should be proud of your moves
Bald not bold
@@KAhmed-wp5ui take a day off and chill!!!!
Fortune favours the brave.
The puppy in the profile picture. Are you raising it?????
The guy from Halifax had it all and used most of the floor effortlessly
Aww, how nostalgic - great to see that the dancers have looked after their joints 😁😇
Great spectacle great dancing , Northern soul in the late 70,s was a fantastic place to be, and hopefully will live on for ever. I’m glad was around to witness all that love and emotion
It was early 70s. My brother used to go to Wigan casino and the torch in the pottery’s.
Defo late sixties early seventies. Lost a lot of work travelling to gigs
American here as well, I came here after seeing the video for Moloko's "Familiar Feeling" and wanting to know more. Now I want to learn, this is pure soul and absolutely amazing. Respect!
Dancing starts at 4 minutes
And finishes at 6.36 (far too soon)
Thanks. The Guy on the microphone sounds like he's under water,to my ears at least,so couldn't hear a damn thing but mumbling!Great to get to the dancing and smooth moves from Brown Trouser Guy.
Glad you put that, 🎤 muffled speaking means nothing xxxxx
Thanks, I was losing the will to live!
This music 🎵 will never die I hear the music and I'm there no matter how old I am I still dance where ever I am.keep The faith 😁
merecidísimo! Geniales los tres, pero el ganador era el que más lo estaba disfrutando! He deserved the award for his talent and because he was the one who was enjoying himself the most
I absolutely loved this!
Guy on the Mike loves his own voice!!!
The film Northern Soul is a feel good film….worth a watch.
Yes, Mr tan and brown was SOOO smooth, effortless. Fantastic!
I'm from Stoke great 90s rave clubs shelleys entropy kinetic. My mum used to go the Golden Torch in Tunstall, she used say to me "Son both scene's were similar but they were better Dancers"! she was spot on❤👍

Watching this, I wont be surprised if the breakdancing movement was born on those northern soul nights. Im always thrilled to watch this. Mr. Bowtie is slick
🤣🤣🤣sorry buddy black Americans have been doing these moves since the 1920s
@@SonnyMeadows no need to be sorry if your correct
@@SonnyMeadows hilarious comment though !
Northern Soul is the only proper underground music and dance culture that's stayed true to its roots.
Sounds like Peter Kay doing dj 😂😂
@Transcriptors Brilliant!! Great memories 👍👌🤘🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭
“Here we go now folks...shabba!”🤣
@Analog q¹1¹¹
Garlic bread lol 😂
Is that Peter Hook of New Order doing the moves !?!
Wow, Craig was outstanding. That guy can dance! Worthy winner. 😀👍
Doesn't kev roberts bang on,lets hope this is the last one, woeful
I cant understand anything he says ...... Its just background noise to me .....
Martin Sheen can really move.
😂 👍
Yes, I also thought he looked just like Martin Sheen, (Estevez)
Awesome! Such creativity
I would have a blast dancing with anyone of them
The lady won this, so smooth, no exaggeration, the other two were showboating, too much silly footwork bordering on moonwalking. I suggest you all watch the lady and observe how she flows without doing fast jittery responses like the men
They were all males. Didn't see a woman. They all looked like men!
Lol, I’d like to see you do better than any of them, ray.
@@serenityb5816 fine where can we meet, I hope you can dance
I have a bomb
Winner was with the music - respect
Great to see passionate northern soul dancers..BRAVO
James
I like Northern Soul and I love the old heads keeping it alive. Long may it live.
Wonderful to watch this. Congratulations to Craig. I enjoyed your fluid and relaxed style. 😁
Fantastic, all very good dancers. What a great dance hall too
Great dancing! The man in brown pants danced like James Brown! From CT., USA. 🕺 Liked & Subscribed.
Hi. When these guys were young you may get a better example , check out Edward Hamilton "Baby don’t you weep" soul city upload also there is a real good video upload of Towanda Barnes You don’t mean it … possibly under name of Gloria Barnes. The dancing is about 1977 at Wigan Casino, it seems to be a warm up of sorts
Well done Jane flying the flag for Walsall wood
Great dancing steve & sue mason
This was enjoyable! Definitely my number 1 pick as well 🕺😎
Love that the older guy won. He was probably an original.
Thank you 😁❤🎶💃❤✊....And Thank You Lord for the Tingles ✝️ with the back drops and crowd cheering at the end 🙏❤✝️✊
Old guy was brill. Northern Soul rocks
Never seen such an empty floor lol. Took me back to my youth a good bit of slip and slidin' never hurt anyone and I still find myself doing it when I get the chance. I've been given black eyes through men doing their spins I got them back with gut crunchers😂. All fun and games at Wigan Casino. Feet of fire it was known as getting sparks from the metal segs in heels of leather brogues helped people spin. As a woman long skirts was the dress not for me though hated dresses etc all my life... Footballers legs just right for this though. Thanks for the memory. And well done the winner best on floor.
I needed this today. Brilliant. ❤️
Holy cow ! Is this like main event in this town ? That's a lot of people watching these dance moves..damnnnnn
Blackpool IS dance
The live audience is from all over the UK and some from further afield. Craig has the genuine northern souls moves; feet smooth and sliding in motion to the music, fancy quick steps and cool trick transitions. That is the real stuff. I used to go to Dave’s Soul Disco at the Claremont Pier in Lowestoft in my late teens and danced all night, even when others sat out. I regularly won classic 45s from Dave in simple dance off routines. Sadly I never visited Wigan Casino or any other Northern Soul joint. I would have loved the vibe, talc on the floor, smooth footwork! Keep the faith!
ORiginal SHUFFLERS ! ORIGINALS Yeah!! Made my day this has.... hearing all those cheers and every-one genuinely having fun. I couldn't pick a winner... But the Man in the Brown Pants was like Floating accross the Dance floor... thats HARD.
Wasn't aware that is a thing but I'm hooked...
Great moves and much deserved winner 🤣😅🇦🇺❤
All three good but the winner stood out.
My vote is definitely bruh in the brown pants. So smooth. 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻😍
Shocking music !!! Great dancers .
Brown pants guy, old school wins it every time regardless for me. He's lived it..cool as 👍👍👍
Don't know why this video popped up, but I enjoyed the dancing, and they definitely picked the right winner!
Lovely, made me proper smile, thank you
I loved loved loved the guy with the bandanna and brown pants. Great dancer.
I love these dancers, they are all BRILLIANT !!
Love this it’s amazing
Wow, I never knew 'dad' dancing had a championship!
😂😂
Just amazing to see the following after all these years, brings back memories, ace.
Man in brown compact economic upper body moves feet keep movin feels the music and not over run with gymnastics cuts rug right to end of track, looking like he has decades of heritage not years!
Love to see people dancing to northern Soul, they always look so good
I'm sad today.
Damn the older man was smoothest!!!🙌
Wow, you can see why all three were in the finals. Super slick. It's a pity that there has to be a single winner. I loved all three.
Yes! The right choice without a doubt. Great dancer, and revived great memories of the early 70's when people could dance! 🙂💜👌💐🇬🇧
I just love the way these Northern soul dancers move 👏👏👏❤️🏴
Just brilliant! Well done Craig from Halifax 👌

Is that the awesome gentlemen with the tattoos please ma’am
He’s awesome
@@NecatiArabaci2256 😯😯😯
@@NecatiArabaci2256 No Kevin, the tattooed man is an Italian living in London, the older man is Craig from Halifax, West Yorkshire, his dancing was in the true style of 'original Northern Soul' which for years was showcased in Wigan Casino Lancashire, the home of Northern Soul 👍
Good evening ma’am
Thank you 🙏 so much for your reply
They are awesome I think.
Please stay safe ma’am thank you 🙏
Just fab well deserved winner and runners up wish i could dance as good love northern soul ❤
Always good to see...I'm from Wigan of course, when I was refurbing my house I found a ticket for Mr M's under the floorboards which I still have. I was very young in the Casino years and was only 16 when I stood and watched as the Casino burned. I only managed to get in there about twice when I was about 14 and very tall for my age. In the years after I got to know people that had worked there, Peter and Joe that had manned the doors, Cynthia that did the cloakroom, all sadly gone now. I found myself on the set of the 2012 film `Northern Soul` with some classic cars, the upshot being that I became the owner of the Gold Vauxhall Victor that was crashed in the film, it's in my garage under restoration as a long term project and is on my channel.
I’m glad your restoring the Vauxhall, such a shame when they crash classic cars for the movies 🎥.
@@johnchurch4705 Yes, if she'd known how few are left she wouldn't have used it, the upside is that it'll be made like new again simply because I was there, it would have been scrapped otherwise so crashing it actually saved it.
@@mikeatcora was it a solid vehicle? It looked pretty good in the movie 🎥?
@@johnchurch4705 Sorry for the late reply, I've had eye surgery and been out of the scene. The car was very rusty and tarted up for the film. I have almost every panel to make it rust free again and will be doing so over the course of this year, it will be made available for Northern Soul events when it's ready.
@@mikeatcora hope the eye 👁 surgery went well and your on the mend 👍🏻.
Are you sure these are the finalists??????????????????????
