It’s anything but easy, even after several summers. Why do you think so few attempt it. Once you get out of stability the real learning begins. I realize now I was holding myself back with stability mode. Also you better have a knack for and like fixing things because unless you’re a heli Einstein you’re going to be crashing and fixing regularly especially IF you choose to push your skills which is where the challenge and fun is for me, especially now that I found a heli buddy that can fix anything and who has put my whole fleet back together 😊
@TimsRcsurgery and @starview00 Keep up the good work. This is how we all started. And everyone flying helicopters loves to help the new guys. Always enjoyable to see people get into the hobby. I am way better now after ten years, but let me tell you, it was not easy for anyone. Also, it's just as hard to learn all the setup and different flight characteristics of these, but trust me, it becomes part of the fun. As you acquire that knowledge. You'll get rid of that tail wobble by very slightly reducing your gyro gain for your tale.
I'm surprised you're starting in acro mode, but I guess in a sense, that's good. Skipping a step though I'd think. Boy that's a high headspeed too. Yeah, it's weird how a breeze will lift it to the sky so quickly. Mine do the same. Good goin' though! Keep p the good work. I'm about where you are as far as flying skills go, but I give you credit for starting off in acro! You're a brave soul!
Everyone advised to start in acro as other ways could create bad habits 🤷♂️ It’s been a while since I’ve flown but the weather is getting good now so no excuses 😂
Yea, I’ve seen guys fly them in windy conditions but it doesn’t make it easy for learning 😃 Not sure I’ll ever be able to fly like those guys… but I’ll keep trying 💪🏼
At least you had this amazing helicopter to practice with. Come on, let loose. That soft grass and field is excellent. A bad crash will probably only cost you $20 or $30 at worst. I sure do wish this was my first helicopter. I would have actually saved so much money.
Consider programming the radio to eliminate the dead band fix Jonas Wackershauser describes in his videos. I found that to be a big help around mid stick.
Does that heli have a beginner's mode preset that tames the hei's behavior? What about a beginner's mode without the stability mode. What's your favorite sim for heli learning?
Yes, you can tame these things as much as you like with the esc and transmitter settings. Heli-x is pretty good, there are free demos you can try, most of them will help you get the muscle memory you need to be able to fly
A go at flying upside down???? You crazy Tim. Try again on the simulator with physic=150%. Then you are ready. Good that you are flying over the black top. Stay off the grass. Yes, the tail "hunting" is a tail gyro gain issue. Turn it down a few percentages. It will stop. Too much it will "lag" when you throttle up or down. Avoid the wind, if you can fly before 9 am or so. Also, always with wind to your back...so's it doesn't fly into you, always away. Also, for freezing cold wear "thin gloves" or cover your hand and tx with a towel or something. Cold, slow fingers = crash. Keep on., mate.
Nice work mate. I just started also and it's WAY harder than the guys on youtube make it look. Was glad to see another beginner show how hard it is!
I’ve not had much time to practice but can’t wait to get out again… those guys make it look easy 🤣 it’s not……

Amazing what wind the wee M2 can handle. Coming on nicely mate!

Great flying looks fun
I’d highly recommend it 😃

You have a point!! I’ve not been out in a while, I’m sitting looking at the Heli now… must get the sim out again to shake the cobwebs off 🤣
Looks a great copter, seems complicated to fly ,you did great i think👍👍👍😀
It’s not as easy as some would have you believe 🤣🤣

I seen that one, just jumps from zero up a few clicks eliminating the “dead spot” 👍👍
The heavy wind can make the tail twitch. Don't adjust it until you can fly it on a still day.
I thought that might be the case 😃
Let’s hope there’s less wind tomorrow 🤞

How did you get your Taranis to work with the M2?
I use a Radiomaster R81 Receiver and plug it into the sbus on the little Heli, then just bind to the Taranis on the D8 protocol setting

Must get out again soon and give it another go…. Definitely want to go inverted though!! 🤣
Upside down lol
I was going to!! High up and flick rescue mode if I got into trouble, but just WAY too breezy
