Wow I have never seen 1:02:54 happen when they’re the aggressor! I wouldn’t have even considered that, super important to keep in mind for my future games!
1:21:30 I absolutely agree with you on this! I've sought out for inspiration in games like Root and Armello and tabletalk, unique interactions and situations like these are the ones that have inspired me enough to write two books based on a fable-setting like Root/Armello/Redwall
Dont you think you hold that ambushes too much tho? At one point, if you've mobilized the bunny and bird ambush, you could spread to bunny, craft coins and them it would be game in that turn you needed just one more action
Oh yeah! Kingmaking to me is beautiful, broken and a great way of storytelling. The fact that it can exist makes the world feel lived in and harsh. History is written by the victors as we know - but countless things could have gone differently to have others win or lose. Love history, love boardgames, love Root!
Loved what you said about king making. I try and avoid it when possible but, ultimately, Root is supposed to teach us about history, war, and political systems, so I totally agree that it is a good part of the game (which is a bit controversial).
I think cats missed their chance to win by not keeping most of their warriors in top left mouse clearing and moving only two to the left mouse. Then, they would have had 7+ rule in 3 and 2 rule in a fourth. They made it too easy for Eyrie to tie/destroy the corner. And, of course, making sawmills gave out free points, but that is understandable because they probably didn't have the mouse dom card when they did that.
A random question but how come you placed 3 tokens at the start of your turn without spending cards for them? is it an adset thing? if so what it's I'd love to know!
I normally don't like kingmaking but in Root it is acceptable. I don't like it when it removes agency from the game and starts making me feel like out-of-game logic is seeping in. Like picking the player you're married to for instance. I hate that. But in Root the motivation if you're not going to win is to try to delay the end of the game as much as possible. If I have to choose between player A and player B winning, I'm going to choose B if they go later in turn order. Mostly because stopping A from winning becomes a kind of self-expression. It's very intrinsically motivating in Root because of the asymmetry and complexity. I want to show off my ability to affect the game, win or lose.
@@LordoftheBoard I was mistaken. The dominance are fine, its the favor cards we remove. They just seem incredibly unfair for some factions over others.
To clarify - playing with the exiles and partisans deck (which is a DLC) removes the favours, as well as adding some interesting other cards. So generally worth it
If this is classified as clickbait. It’s pretty light… I don’t personally think this is misleading . :) as the winner is extremely unlikely and a total surprise
This was such a wild game. Was looking forward to your commentary, thanks!
Literally such a fun one!!
Well played at the end!
Thank you guys, it was a really fun game! Still learning the rules and should have had more look on the chat. Next time! :)
Next time! Great game again!

Right!? I totally forgot about this interaction. And it was so cool to see it in this game! Lots of really cool stuff

nice game, 1:18:31 was the crucial moment, that ambush would save you at the end when birds took out sympathy token ^^
Right!? That was pivotal. How unlucky that it was stolen.! really thought I had it - but loved this game so much

Very nice ending! And I haven’t heard a pro-kingmaking argument use that angle before. Cool stuff!

Totally deserved victory by the birds, I was cheering for them from the beginning!
Me too!!!
I love when he just plays around with the graphics of the game ;)
Haha! Yeah this is extremely unedited 😂
I literally couldn’t stop watching this
Really happy you enjoyed it friend! 💕
My favorite content (with strategy guides) of yours
The gameplays? 🔥
@@LordoftheBoard yeah definitely. I prefer those to meeple rankings XD (no offense)
@@antoinenadal353 oh np! Meeple ranking are for fun!
Hey man the meeple rankings are the most serious rankings on this channel, it’s a heavy topic 😂
@@benjaminmoore2201 I enjoy the following they have garnered!! People love their root Meeples!
Excellent game. To bad I don't have the group to play Root :) Some day, maybe
Have I ever played Root? No. Did I watch this whole thing? Yes 😂
So glad you enjoyed it! 🔥
Let’s go!!
Thanks for watching!
Digital can be so hard to follow. I feel like the slower pace of RL games helps process what is happening.
I def wouldn’t recommend watching digital if you don’t already know how to play the game!

Thank you 🙏🏽
is it worth buying the game on steam or will i never find a game?
It’s worth it!!
@@LordoftheBoard ok, I may give it a try on sale
This game looks super fun prolly gonna nab it this week

King making is super important in this game, also in real life, I’d watch a video about how it works in root
Very very important for sure!
I wish you could remove the dominate cards on the digital game. In my games at home I never allow those cards as I think they ruin the game.
Really … I’ve always loved them. Unfortunately they are so hard to pull off
