"Members of the public expressed their anger with the Los Angeles Police Department and called on Chief Michel Moore to resign during a heated public comment section of a Police Commission meeting that came after days of protests throughout the city.
The Los Angeles Police Commission on Tuesday held its first meeting since the start of the civil unrest across the city over the in-custody death of George Floyd, as well as incidents of police brutality by the city. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the meeting was held virtually and people were asked to join via Zoom or dial in.
Black Lives Matter’s Los Angeles chapter, which helped organize the protests, urged followers to call in. And hundreds did, unleashing their anger at the chief and frustration with how the department has responded to the protests."*

My cousin Dewey was murdered by the L. A. P. D. almost 30 years ago, he was shot in the back 14 times by 4 officers (they said he had a gun, this gun was never found) It is time for this to change, we have been fighting this fight for too long and I am happy to hear these conversations happening Outside of our community, it is what is needed!! Exactly loss of jobs starting in the 60s to the 80s made many "Black" communities "bad". Poverty, crime, no or little property tax so low funded schools and other services, alcohol/drug use (self medicating), heavy debt, and a disenfranchise view of community, nation, world, life. Those same problems have now been growing since the early 2000 in many "White" communities because of the same reason... loss of jobs.
Also to back to some degree what the first person who answered said. "Black" and "White" race does not exist. It was made up in the 1500s to justify slavery. Every time people using this thinking they are accepting this pseudo science. "Black" and "White" is basically only good for a shallow quick description. Real races is ethnicity. In the U.S. most people of African descent don't know what ethnicities they are of(And many of European descent tho that was by choice by some ancestors). And many "Black" people would be of African AND European descent. Which makes the "White"/"Black" thinking even more nonsense, since the idea that one either of African descent or European descent, but in reality many are of both heritages. Race is ethnicity... or it's of lineage... basically if a group is descendant of a man named Mcdonald then they are of the Mcdonald race. If one is born of the Yoruba race and the Celtic race... one is of both. Pseudo science nonsense says one is only of one, and only the "Black" one. It's stupid. It's not how the world thought before the 1500s.

Ana is spot on when it comes to foul language. Sure, you shouldn't over use it, but the reason you shouldn't OVER use it is that when you do use it it's powerful and meaningful. Bad language is a wonderfully useful tool in some situations.
Finally people have had enough, I just wonder how they are going to rehabilitate the police culture, it's rotten to the core.

I will say this I’m so glad that we aren’t totally alone in this fight this time around. MORE PEOPLE GET IT. I’m so appreciative that we are not alone in having to explain common sense of this tragic situation.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. There were too many times of just sweeping it under the rug any time an unarmed black person was killed by police that the anger was going to boil over. You can't just keep ignoring a problem and hope it goes away, then act surprised when people show their anger.
Perhaps law enforcement needs to up theirs standards and hire folks who hold actual 4 year degrees in psychology, criminal justice, instead of grabbing common folks off the street.

I'm no punk. I've lived my entire life begging and trying to point out to my white friends to try to see things through my perspective and to help in certain moments. All of which, I have lost. I've been called a trouble maker, reverse racist, a racist, and fired. It brings so much happiness and peace to my heart to see all of these young brave white people stand up to assist us, with genuine emotions and putting their bodies right next to ours. This is AMERICA. We can do so much better than any other country if we really came together as Americans. These ranks by white people are being heard. Just Awesome

Romy Taylor I realized that after the Trayvon debates. It was always shady. I used to think I was imparting knowledge and insight. I thought I used to think, “ with a friend like me” that would dispel all the negative connotations and that my friends would grow up to help the change. Because in HS and college, it was all “bro this and bro that”. The conversations during Trayvon’s trial, hurt me deeply. As woke as I have always been on our history in America, I was just as naive of my social interactions. Some of their comments to me, made me realize, they were just acting cool with us out of fear. That one or two black kids act ignorant in school and the entire white race at the school gets on edge. I’ll never understand being expelled from school my senior year for starting a “race riot”. They failed to investigate the fact that I was defending a mentally disabled white kid that I had played soccer with a few years back. The principal, my teachers, my coaches, my white friends were all judging me based on someone’s opinion of me and my actions that day. That day alone, messed up my outlook from colleges. That’s when I realized, any white person can say anything, no matter how asinine, about a Black person and the multitude of those in power, will believe it. At least for those who I thought were my friends, I thought they excepted the facts and things were back to normal with us. Until one brought up that incident and a few remembered as proof of the volatile nature of Black people. A kick in the nuts. Played soccer with this dude since 3rd grade. Football with another since 4th.
Bill Pool The part that makes me sick to my stomach, isn’t realizing they weren’t my friends, was remembering the times when I really wanted to be white. It was obvious in elementary that the white kids got the best stickers and the best assignments like washing the chalk board, while the black kids emptied the garbage or moved tables. We thought we were getting time away from class, or being acknowledged for our strength. The ways in which an adult can manipulate the emotions and mind of kids who just want to be accepted. Going to class when it is only 2-3 black kids, 25 white with 4 believing that they are superior, makes for a terrible future outlook. Well from this moment, I have more hope than I have in a while. Benefits my heart.

Just read about it. Didn't find much. Just that the police were very quick to call it a suicide. The community and members don't believe it's suicide since he was a good loving kid with no problems. They asked for footage from nearby cameras, the police say those cameras don't record. There has been racism in the city, people believe it could be a hate crime. The people want to do an independent autopsy.
I think it's still early to make assumptions. I know most traffic cameras don't record and the ones that do, usually just record 24 hours (sometimes 72) and then erase over it. We will have to wait for the independent autopsy. But so far this shows the deep distrust people have in the police now. My heart goes out to the family. If I missed something please let me know.

There have been other black men hanged. I just learned that a hanging in public place is rare for a suicide. It never happens. The cops should have known this. Now we have multiple hangings.

Its about time Americans have stood up and stood tall. Everyone just accepts the brutality and violence by the police. It hurts me to know that black American families have to teach their children how not to get beaten or killed by police. Its about time! We hear these stories here and there and they do that so we forget about the last one.
