"At a press conference held by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Monday, the city’s police chief, Michel Moore, initially sought to place blame on those fomenting violence.
“Last night,” said Moore, “just under 700 arrests. Of that, just under 70 were for looting and burglarizing.”
Of the incident that sparked the protests, the death of George Floyd after his arrest by Minneapolis police, Moore said, “His death is on their hands, as much as it is on those officers.'*

Here is what I just re-learned from this video: if George Floyd was in LA, where this this chief polices, George would have died sooner and we would have no footage, because the cops would have killed the videographer as well.

Ok looting is not helping the protesters and is being used by trump to detract from the point. But allow me to play devils advocate for a moment, is it possible that a small percentage of the looters are unemployed because they're part of the 40 million Americans that have zero financial help and are trying to survive? I'm not condoning looting in the slightest but I'm just raising the point that some not all of the looters might just be trying to support their families. Also in terms of the protesters I have seen countless footage of protesters actually stopping the vandalism and the looting. So I guess what I'm saying is not everything is so clear cut here.

The bad apples are the sergeants and chiefs who the frontline officers and rookies look to for guidance. I have served in the military and worked for security companies and I can't ell you how many times I have had an instructor say something along the lines of, "Between you and me and these four walls, ..." or, "This is not official, but if it gets out of hand use....." There's always that caveat that if no one is looking, kick the fucker's teeth in. I have heard that kind of talk in training classes all my professional career.
That's where it begins and that is where it needs to stop.

I’m still not following the police’s logic. “We are violently attacking your black and minority communities. We disproportionately arrest, commit acts of violence, and murder people in your communities.” Then when people respond with violence, they say, “I’m sorry you guys are horrible. Why are you being violent. It’s only okay when we are violent towards you, not the other way around. You can’t retaliate or show any violence only us.” I know that the looting and damage to the community sucks, but I still value human life over property. I don’t like looting because i know there are many opportunists who are looting, but the rage people feel if they are rioting and looting is valid and if we were keeping score, how many officers would have to be murdered for each innocent life taken away? Again, property damage is better than murdering people, and instead of seeing property damage as the source of civil unrest, look into your own violent acts that you keep committing again and again to black people and other poc.
