Doug Graham is a GENIUS! That’s my whole comment. He will be remembered as one of the greats in this field one day. A guy who truly deserves his flowers.
I'm 20 minutes in and you couldn't pull me away. I'm so glad there's 2 hours of this amazing talk. Thank you Chef AJ, I love that you don't have a time constraint on your highly informative guests. I would love to see the results of a self experiment with raw! I would love to do it together! I'm going raw this year! Oh wait, how old is this video? I'm watching on January 30, 2023.
Hi I am inplementing more and more raw food. Ibfind it only difficult cause Inhave a 10 year old thatI cannot take into the boat. How is it going for you so far?
How are you both doing with this? I am watching this on March 31, 2023. I am going to start 100% raw for the month of April. I can't wait to see how I feel!
Raw is the best. I was on McDougall starch solution for eight years always had digestive issues, and I was always gassy. I would get constipated unless I drunk up to a gallon of water a day. after I would eat starches always felt tired and sluggish. The morning after I would feel dehydrated and tired. After I went raw l my digestion cleared up my energy increased. I didn’t have to drink so much water to be hydrated. I didn’t need as much sleep my inflammation in my joints went away. And I’m not even going to talk about weight loss. It’s next level on a raw diet. I agree with most of his advice, except for salt. If you’re eating lots of watery fruits and salads, which are mostly high water content. And you do a lot of exercise and sweating. If you’re craving something salty I think it’s very important to listen to your body. I tried eliminating all salt and it can get dangerous. If you’re consuming 150 or 200 mg of sodium my day and you’re highly active. Nana add a half a teaspoon of Redmond sea salt on my evening salad and it’s amazing fix is my salt craving and I don’t feel jittery and sluggish during my workouts
Thank you so much for your in-depth comment. I've been doing the starch solution, however, the more raw foods I eat, the more I feel better. So I am going to transition to the 80/10/10.
Now just add red meat and organs with your fruit and you’ll experience a level of health that feels like you’re transcending everything you thought it meant to be human!
This show was so EPIC! I have been on the 80 10 10 raw vegan 100% since February 2012 and I absolutely LOVE it. I recommend everyone to give it a try and just ENJOY! Thank you AJ and Doug for this raw vegan week. Much love! 🤗♥️
He looks wonderful, young and vibrant! I like the 80/10/10 meal plan, which I have heard Dr T Colin Campbell cite as a desirable carb ratio. However, for me, I do not want to live on a 100% raw diet. I like cooked sweet and white potatoes and cooked vegetables. I love fruits except I get a lot of gas from apples and pears as they are high in FODMAPS and I have IBS. Anyway, I think “to each his own” when it comes to a raw diet. If he’s happy and it works, that’s great. But, not for me. It was very interesting, though. I like to hear different perspectives.
Wow Wow Wow, amazing talk...Now If you don't get why you should eat a Low fat Raw Vegan diet it's because you don't want to. Thank you Dr. Graham. Thank you AJ

Thank you for this wonderful episode ❤️🙏 I like Dr. Graham's approach of eating fruits AND veggies. And regarding "mental problems" occurring in frutarians: even Dr. Morse, who is a proponent of the latter, admits that eating only fruits for a longer period of time, can detach you from the physical realm (because fruits have much higher frequencies than veggies). In order to be more grounded, one needs to add veggies.
love this interview, so much FOOD for though, AJ if you ever do a month, or 10 days of RAW please document it it would be so interesting to see! I am currently dabbling with RAW I am WFPB since April 2021 I probably do raw about 3 days a week but increasing over time experimenting! Thank you both, great interview.
I am also looking into this! I have done WFPB since March 2021 and lost over 40 lbs. but have lost my excitement and motivation. I am thinking this may be my answer. I am really excited to do this challenge for 10 days and maybe beyond.
Dr. Graham and Chef AJ - thank you so much for a wonderful video! I am transitioning to raw and this is such an inspiring and motivating message! Much love and God Bless!
Great inspiration - going raw, getting much higher energi, being able to run, better memory, more fun 😃and it is a radikal message e.g. If cooked food were inventer toddy it would not be allowed 🍀💚🐸
Okraw has included some cooked foods after being raw for 25 (26?) years. He said that all that with the white blood cell count didn't happen with cooked veggies, just with cooked animal foods. I don't know though, just saying what he said.He said that he had serveral friends that have tested this.
That was a great video. If Chef AJ feels great, is able to keep her weight stable and has her health markers in check, nobody should say that she should quit eating potatoes.
When Chef AJ pushed a little on starch and veg based diets VS fruit based diets Dr Graham said male athletes will never get enough calories on a vegetable based diet. OK but I am a 60 year old 5' female. My calorie needs are quite small and i am overweight. Is this a good way of eating for me?
And I really liked the simple advise : just try it: Eat whole organic raw fruits and vegetables - and Learn to love eating green leaves and cucumber with your fruits 🍀💚🐸
Chef AJ I love you so I'm going to bring this up: You say "...but I don't prefer fruit, I prefer starch and vegetables", yet you said that all your life sweets were your go-to, your downfall, and you love making all those vegan sweets and desserts 🤔. Do you see the problem here? The problem is that you're not eating enough fruit. Sweet, juicy, ripe luscious fruits. I've been through this same predicament, and I've seen so many others do the same. Humans are frugivores. Add vegetables and tender greens and lettuces, and a very small amount of nuts and seeds.
I'm an ethical vegan and have considered eating this way on and off..but it's simply not practical if you're on a budget and live in colder climates. It's really a lifestyle for the privileged, imo. Many people can eat reasonably healthy and cheaply on starches no matter where they live. They can't do the same in the middle of winter when fruit is not in season, and organic produce is ridiculously expensive. If you move to places like Costa Rica, Hawaii or Florida, it makes more sense..but for those of us anywhere else who suffer through cold, frigid winters, it's not practical or cheap. In the summer it's easier to eat more fruit. There's a reason beans, potatoes and (steamed) veggies exist..for people like us!😂❤️
Completely agree. Doug does not mention this context and nuance, and it's an extremely important point. No way I am giving up my cheap rice, potatoes, beans, bread and oats. No, just no.
Chef AJ, you look so beautiful and radiant at 61. You must be doing something right. I enjoy a baked sweet potato 🍠 too. I enjoy adding one to a salad. I may get his book. Is he based in the US?
This is fascinating. I have been following Dr. Brooke Goldner's raw vegan diet 90% of the time adn eating some cooked vegan foods (veggies, beans, oats) once in a while. No nuts or oils, but I eat avocado all the time, as well as a lot of chia seeds, so I am guessing more than 10% fat. I lost 30 lbs in 4 months and reversed my psoriasis. Aren't there some benefits to steaming veggies to make some of the nutrients more absorbable?
Wonderful info! Makes you think… really. Raw vegan sounds so attractive but I love potatoes and legumes that can’t be consumed raw. Thank you for this video, AJ! 👍🌱😘
Place Dr. McDougal and Dr. Graham together…. There will never be consensus. I agree about fat but I will still eat potatoes, rice, and legumes AND will cook zucchini and squash! 😀🙏
I wish he had answered more about calcium, vitamin e and iodine. And I would like to know how much he think we need. I want numbers :) 500 mg calcium, 15 mg vitamine e, 150 microgram iodine, more or less?
Such an impressive narrative - eat more fruit and vegetables, ripe, raw, organic. I really feel motivated and inspired by all the interviews you do Chef A.J and this certainly Will change the way I continue to find out how to have the highest possible Energy … I was so impressed from the very Minute he said:when I changed to raw I could run - because running for me somehow is a sign of true aliveness, but all the interview was just so interesting, so informative ans inspiring in every Way, so filled with clever observation and possibilities both for very ill people and for World Classic athletes 🙏 🍀💚🐸
I’m really interested in his book! This week I tweaked my diet with adding more fruit and my mood is more “happy” 😝 I’m a starch solution girl so I ate less starch this week and I didn’t feel as satisfied after eating my vegan burger and curly fries, I wanted to keep eating! But I stopped and realized I would later eat half a papaya for my snack time. After I ate the papaya, I was happy again!! What I can do, is eat fruit morning and afternoon, and for dinner I’ll have my starch solution meal and my snack will be fruit before I go to bed. This is an experiment for myself and I’m really curious if my chronic tinnitus will some day alleviate. I’m getting this book 80 10 10! Thank you AJ!
YES I completely agree with you about the happier mood with eating more fruit! I came from starch solution too but right now with it being summer and all the fresh fruits, eating more fruit just feels so good 💕
Starch and fruit solution is the answer. Eat as much of both as you feel like. I hate being told to eat only starch and little or no fruit, and I hate being told to eat only fruit and very little or no starch. You should eat as much of either one as you feel like depending on how you feel.
I just bought 5 large green papayas and currently have them in a paper bag ripening🤣🤣 🤪 with a banana 🙏🏻 I had to go to three stores. After researching the benefits of eating this fruit first thing on an empty stomach, I think this one is going to be a staple in my diet. I’ve always disliked them until I tried them this week perfectly ripened.
Hows your tinnitus ? Im trying to figure out how to calm mine down. My body reacts to all starches so far so i have to eat lots of fruit for calories. Peeled apple pear, frozen blueberries and cherries. 😊 All organic and low histamine. Do youeat flax or chia at all? Im able to eat steamed greens, zucchini, spaghetti squash and i put that over my romaine & arugula. If anyone needs to lose weight this is by far the fastest way. My body fat is vanishing. May God lead us to our best healing diets.
I love raw fruits and greens! But about the pleasure of eating it...After having had a couple of fruitbased meals, I always crave something else for dinner. Suddenly another fruit and veggie-meal isn't appealing anymore. It doesn't even taste good anymore. What's up with that?
@Peter Rabbit i haven't had any issue meeting my calorie needs. Just use bananas as a staple. And dates/other dried fruits. The issue I have is that after doing that for a week I can hardly even look at a banana in the end, and I love bananas!🤪😅 It's no problem to have bananas in my first 2 meals, but more than that...Not easy.
It's because a diet of fruit and greens isn't calorically dense enough to sustain you. There's nothing wrong with eating cooked starchy vegetables, grains, beans, etc. I see the other comments telling you to eat more fat or more simple carbohydrates, but it's the complex carbohydrates that satisfy us the most and the longest. Alan Goldhamer has some good talking points on this, but I suggest reading "Catching Fire: How Cooking Made Us Human" by Richard Wrangham for the ultimate breakdown on this topic.
@rawbirbella justthat It's a budget and accessibility issue for me. I live in the north of Sweden. It's expensive! I can't have a mono meal of mangoes that costs me 20 dollars.
@@SSSyndrome214 Yes, I know about that!😊 I don't believe that gently cooked foods are toxic at all! I don't feel my best on cooked grains and beans though so the cooked foods I include are potatoes, sweet potatoes and steamed veggies plus some mushrooms. I will absolutely get more nutrients from that than just sticking to only the raw fruits and greens I can afford. If I had access to ALL the fruits and greens in the world it would be different, but for now I eat a "high raw" diet.
I disagree Nothing wrong with starches and grains, plus they fill you up with fiber and plenty of iron, vitamins and so much more. It's all about balance.
And my conclusion listening to it all a second time is: whau it sounds so simple, so attractive and must try to eat whole, ripe, raw, organic fruits and vegetables - 80-10-10 🎶💚🎵🍀🐸
I don't totally agree with him but I do eat a lot of raw veggies but I have tons of gas because of it a raw diet is more expensive because of all the fruit you have to eat. I eat potatoes and that isn't going to change
Bananas are the only fruit that I hate, especially when they are brown and spotty. They are an abomination. Potatoes and sweet potatoes are absolutely better. That is a fact. Better to eat dates than bananas for your "potatoes" if you want to be completely low fat raw.
I really do not get this thing... if you only eat raw, there is à bunch of otherwise healthy foods you cannot eat ( mushrooms and eggplant and beans/legumes to name à few because these must be cooked otherwise they are toxic), that leads to à pretty restrictive diet and you miss out on some important nutrients. Anyway, cooking dates back to prehistoric men. Cavemen did not suffer from diabetes nor heart disease. Cooking is not the problem, food industry is the problem as in industrial plants foods are processed in à way that most nutrients are destroyed. That processing is not the same as home cooking. Eat whole, natural foods and you are good to go !
80/10/10 isn't restrictive. It's simple. Some people are so used to being complicated and their taste buds have been perverted so they end up perceiving the simplicity of something as more difficult.
And YES! AJ should give you a month! 10 days will not give you a fair evaluation. Might as well not even do it...you are just setting yourself up for failure, but maybe that's what you want! That's ok, just don't bad-mouth the raw vegan 80-10-10 diet on an unfair evaluation!
What about people who have hypoglycemia and try the 80/10/10 raw diet? I can’t seem to find anything on this. My personal experience when I tried this diet is I had nausea and was throwing up after two days.
I love his enthusiasm, but really confusing to think we need to go raw. It would be more than interesting to see him debate McDougall or Dr Greger. I am making raw smoothies, fruit on oatmeal. I thought I needed oats, beans, potatoes to be full.
@rawbirbella justthat yes but cave people had fire. People have been eating cooked food forever. Cooked food can't be worse than canned raw fruit can it?
@@MsVivian4979 No one is talking about eating canned fruit which btw will be cooked as cans are sealed at high temps. Raw food is optimal. Humans ate cooked out of necessity as our ancestors migrated north of the equator.
@@MsVivian4979 The very assertion that people have been eating cooked food "forever" is false. We likely evolved large brains from the easy calories and phytonutrients in fruits. We would have needed big brains and fire to cook foods. And a lot of trial and error.
YES~Let’s do 10 days of raw together and perhaps on our own me can do one day at a time to a month of raw…just as an “experiment!” Let’s do this (just for fun)!!! It can’t hurt👍

I love this guy! There is a town near where I grew up and the actual name is The Dalles. And you always say The Dalles.
Dr Fred Bisci has been a raw foodist for 50 years.
Dr Graham commented on Okraw’s cooked food inclusion, saying that he thinks he will start feeling not so good and will convert back.
Time will tell.
Dr Graham with the truth!! Love the info!
What a wonderful interview nice to see mr. G looking so healthy😉
Great and powerful interview!
Chef AJ you look so beautiful and glowing in this video 🪻🦋
And I really liked the simple advise : just try it: Eat whole organic raw fruits and vegetables - and Learn to love eating green leaves and cucumber with your fruits 🍀💚🐸
wfpb to low fat raw 7 years ago - NO comparison 🥭🍎🍌🍍🍒🍓🍅
Chef AJ thanks for having Dr. Graham on
You bet!
Good point!
Agree 100%.
Are questions still being answered?
you visionaries are awesome
Amazing interview! I LOVE raw fruits & vegetables!
Let ve this diet approach. However what to do if eating fruits immediately causes skin allergies.
This interview was fire. 🔥🔥🔥 I agree with Chef AJ though: Cooked foods are too nice!
By far best interview I have heard thus far!!
Do we need vitamin B12? It’s only found in dairy an animal products.
yes, we do need a B12 supplement
I'll do it with you, AJ :) Let's try it for 10 days... :)
This guy is so on point it's scary
Hi from Brazil! 🇧🇷 Thank you so much for the great interview!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ll join your 10 day challenge AJ!
Me too!
You live the food but does it love you back? So good.
Awesome interview! I learned a lot! Thank you so much 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gosh I remember being held down by 5 people to be given ether to have my tonsils out too.
So traumatic. . .
Let's do the 10 day raw challenge. Sounds like fun.
Wonderful info! Makes you think… really. Raw vegan sounds so attractive but I love potatoes and legumes that can’t be consumed raw. Thank you for this video, AJ! 👍🌱😘
Absolutely!!
Place Dr. McDougal and Dr. Graham together…. There will never be consensus. I agree about fat but I will still eat potatoes, rice, and legumes AND will cook zucchini and squash! 😀🙏
Just because there isn't consensus doesn't mean there is not an objective truth.
What about DHA and EPA? Are we at risk for cognitive decline and/or dementia as raw vegans?
For medical questions, please email: help@chefaj.com
I wish he had answered more about calcium, vitamin e and iodine. And I would like to know how much he think we need. I want numbers :) 500 mg calcium, 15 mg vitamine e, 150 microgram iodine, more or less?
"There was only one kid in my class that ate the paste. And he was kind of weird." lol
This week I tweaked my diet with adding more fruit and my mood is more “happy” 😝
I’m a starch solution girl so I ate less starch this week and I didn’t feel as satisfied after eating my vegan burger and curly fries, I wanted to keep eating!
@@dj-fe4ck I totally agree. This is the answer for me as well!!
I just bought 5 large green papayas and currently have them in a paper bag ripening🤣🤣 🤪 with a banana 🙏🏻
I had to go to three stores.
I love raw potatoes, are they not good raw.
@rawbirbella justthat There is no such thing as a cooked food addiction, just like there is no such thing as a raw food addiction.
I disagree
Nothing wrong with starches and grains, plus they fill you up with fiber and plenty of iron, vitamins and so much more.
@rawbirbella justthat that's what Ronnie Smith says..love fruit podcast
Bananas are the only fruit that I hate, especially when they are brown and spotty. They are an abomination. Potatoes and sweet potatoes are absolutely better. That is a fact. Better to eat dates than bananas for your "potatoes" if you want to be completely low fat raw.
@rawbirbella justthat so you dont eat cooked starches?
Do you have supplement on this diet. COQ10, choline , K2? Etc...
Just B12
Did she ever try it for a month?
Please interview Dr. Aris Latham 💓💓💓💓
What do you think about taking co Q-10…
80/10/10 isn't restrictive. It's simple. Some people are so used to being complicated and their taste buds have been perverted so they end up perceiving the simplicity of something as more difficult.
Great presentation - I learnt a lot thanks
And YES! AJ should give you a month! 10 days will not give you a fair evaluation. Might as well not even do it...you are just setting yourself up for failure, but maybe that's what you want! That's ok, just don't bad-mouth the raw vegan 80-10-10 diet on an unfair evaluation!
Your comment was 1 year ago. Are you still 100% raw now. Highly doubt it. Any update? I don't come in judgment, but in curiosity for knowledge. '💖
What about people who have hypoglycemia and try the 80/10/10 raw diet? I can’t seem to find anything on this. My personal experience when I tried this diet is I had nausea and was throwing up after two days.
What aboute insulin resistance? I mean if you are consuming much of fruit and fructose.
Went raw except for beans of course, rice and mushrooms
How do you eat raw sweet potatoes?
You don't :)
@@CHEFAJ lol
@cathyrichard1100, how did this work for you??
I am about to do this for the month of April '23.
Thanks
