  • This is a 2 minute preview of a very comprehensive documentary that explains how a gold field evolved before and after the gold rush using the Hill End area as a template for this process. After the Rush - Evolution of a goldfield. The latest is more personal as television has presented what I felt was a distorted view involving a lifestyle and character of Australian bush life I was personally familiar with.
When viewing these documentaries do not be under the illusion that they fit the normal formula for documentaries with invented hype and pretend suspense. I have not made friends in this industry because I just presented facts as they were which I believed were interesting enough without adding invented suspense.
This resulted in a 4 & ½ hour, 48 chapter epic relating all manner of life in and on a goldfield, pre and post gold rush.
Only just released this is what the few that reviewed had to say...
Stephen Ford (professional research I used to confirm nothing had slipped under the radar and all corroborated my original research) ‘What can I say. Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant... Can I say you have a magnificent voice for a narrator? I am truly impressed with both the story-lines, the visual effects and the content. You are indeed a showman and I like the talks about making damper and the discussions around the Billy Tin... Great to see that the Whiteboard makes an appearance also... It is such a work of art that I am not sure that the present generation will truly appreciate the content. The content I am sure will appreciate over time as the stories and discussions mature and become more of a look back upon the simpler times and of a time long forgotten.’
The thumbnail introductory photo is of the 'Reward Mine', at Hill End and is representative of the people that made up the character of the town after the gold rush.
