Whistle Sound Off Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad

- One of the highlights of the 2018 Lerro Photography charter on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (October 2018) was the chance to see three active steam locomotives side by side. Of course, once can't do a pose like this and NOT have a whistle sound off! I started the camera a bit too late to capture the start of McCloud 25 but I hope you like the rest. Someone also asked to do all three at once... ok sure why not? Left to right is McCloud River Railway #25, Polson Logging #2, and Skookum under steam for the first time in 63 years.

As much as I love locomotive horns nothing beats a steam whistle! So beautiful! Great video!
I love the old "Skookum" best.
My favorite was #3. I can imagine that echoing beautifully in some lonely, misty mountain pass.
Yeah, perfect whistle for a logging locomotive.
Beautiful whistles!
Such beautiful girls blowing their wonderful whistles for all of the coast to hear
Bet that sounded sweet from across the bay
Are all of these still run on coal? Love the whistles.
All three locomotives in this video burn oil.
@@mafarnz Good to know, thanks.

Great
Now they need a flat out train race

When will the Heisler # 2 run again? I haven't seen that one for awhile.
I think its down for its FRA 15 year? Not sure. Last I heard was that the next Heisler to run on Oregon Coast Scenic will be Craig Mountain Lumber #3.
@@mafarnz Thanks for the info. I'll be interested to hear what happens.
I really love the whistle on the Number 2! Any idea what it is?
A homemade six chime boiler tube whistle.
@@mafarnz it's amazing!
