I was just telling my boyfriend right before Shore released that Fleet Foxes have always represented Autumn for me, my favorite season. They both present tranquility, accepting inevitable change, being at peace with the moment you’re in and reflecting on what happened in your past. It’s a heavy but welcome and revelatory feeling. So it’s so fitting they released when they did, right at the crest of Summer becoming Fall, when we can come to accept this awful year and look forward to a better one.

100%. I feel like a huge theme of this album was arriving to some sort of destination, and reflecting on the journey to get there. The theme, for a lack of a better word, is fleeting from experiences and onto new ones.

@@ty_hens I kinda feel more like it's about just leaving behind things that were supposed to be a destination, but now he realizes these were just unrealistic goals set up within his mind and because he gave up on them, he can finally open up his mind to the things that have always moved him and carried him effortlessly.
So, in a way, he's focusing on the journey and finding solace in knowing that the journey isn't over, rather than always trying to reach destinations which set him up for failure in case he doesn't meet them. I find this very soothing, knowing one can just stay at the shore and wonder what adventures await them instead of answering that call to the wild and riding crazy oceans that might kill them. It's safe, it's warm, it's a slow burn rather than an epic mythology.
Can you make a 10 min. version of this song? To be honest, 1 hour wouldn’t be enough. One of the greatest album openers of all time.

Yeah! My wife and i don't stay on top of every move that our favorite artists make, but we keep our ears open and searched. (Currently waiting on Gem Club! 🙏) But then Fleet Foxes hit us with this!!! I bought my wife the vinyl.
A friend recommended this album to me tonight. I’m already hooked on the first 4 songs so it’s gonna take awhile to get through the whole album.

Sometimes human beings are cappable to make such heart-warming and touching things like this... Those guitar chords, that epic crescendo, the strings and brass arrengements... those dreamy vocals... Shit! I'm still shocked this is a female voice instead of Robin Pecknold's vocals.
You know?I love 'Shore' in its entirety, but this breath taking opener is so addictive that I just can't help pushing the repeat button and go on.
This is exactly how Autumn sounds like.
It is just so affirming to see that this song is affecting us all so similarly. :) It really is a beautiful thing.

I was introduced to Fleet Foxes while living in the epic wilds of Oregon, wandering through endless green dripping rainforests that hide and hold you and nurture you back to life. They are gone to fire now, a reality I simply can’t hold the weight of. Anything Fleet Foxes bring me back there In my heart and mind, the only place those sacred breath-giving trees and beautiful animals exist now. It’s like a dream I never want to wake up from. Thank you!

I knew this album was going to be something special from the first 5 seconds of this song.
My first listen was exactly when it came out at equinox on 22nd of September 2020. It was unbelievable. Such a warm, harmonic music like medicine or golden love. We suffer 2020 & we needed this. Absolutely stunning.
This brings me to a place of rest. Like I’ve walked a thousand miles, fought a war, and anow I finally get to lay down, be still, and be at peace.
I'm loving the nylon-string guitars on this album.
