Thank you for this!! I used my horn for the first time when someone almost side swiped me and I was surprised and shame at how weak the weak the stock horn is🤧
I have a 2020 Hatchback as well and even I can't hear my own horns when music is turned up! LOL Just ordered these horns and will be doing the upgrade soon. Thx for the vid!
Just purchased a 2022 Corolla SE a few days ago and agree that the horn is pretty whimpy. You did a great job in the making of that video. Just purchased the horns and the wiring adapter. Can’t wait to tackle the job. In the meantime, I’ll just stick my head out the window and holler.
Very helpful video. Many thanks. The positive wire (red) is nicely done. For the ground wire, simply run a short length of black wire from one of the horn terminals to the mounting bracket. There is no need for a separate ground wire running to the car body someplace. These are the instructions on my Fiamm horns.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2021 Corolla ZR hybrid. Your clear and easy instructions made it a breeze for me to install these horns using the Toyota adapter. I placed one horn in the original horn position and the other to the same spot on the opposite side of the grill so the sound may balance better- maybe it won’t make a difference at all. I did have to solder one of the little wires to a longer wire to reach. Now my little red car has a big loud voice. Watch out motorists!
Very good and comprehensive video. I placed an order for a Corolla hatch last week and will definitely be doing this. Another plug-in upgrade(though would require some wiring work to single horn vehicles) is to go with horns from a more upscale Toyota vehicle; most Lexus models are pretty good if you can find them in boneyards. Toyotas have used the same horn connector since the mid '80s, so you've got a lot of options to choose from. I did this on my '88 Celica; replaced the relatively wimpy horns with those from an LS400. It saved me getting hit a couple of times by inattentive drivers.
Thank you for the video and providing the bolt size and what else may be needed. I the Piaa 400hz + 500hz horns on the way and they both have the factory Toyota connections, so I just bought a pigtail 1 = 2 adapter so no additional grounding needed. Happy I won't have to run back to the store to figure out the bolt size! 👍
Excellent video overall. Just want to provide an alternate grounding method. The ground terminals can be secured using the same bolts that are used to mount the horn brackets. That’s actually how the OEM horn is grounded. I installed Fiamm low and high tone horns like that. And thanks for the link for the connector kit, that was super useful !
Thanks great video I just received my new 22 hatch corolla manual and I just order the horns Recommendation if you have the 2.0 engine I just ordered the Lexus engine cover for the U.N. model that has the same engine as the corolla. Make the interior engine look nice and as I have the se model I ordered the hood insulation that the XSE has for my se This helps contain any engine noise along with the engine cover.. pure cosmetic and sound deadening but I like the ROI
What a great video! Thank you so much! I followed this step by step and now have a much more respectable sounding horn :-) it was a bit fiddly fitting the horn on the right but got there in the end! The Toyota harness was difficult to source in the UK so got it from China which took an age to come. It came in a pack of two so if any one in the UK wants the other one contact me. It’s just the harness not the red wires but happy to pass it on. So glad I made the change. Thank you again :-)
I picked up my 2023 Corolla Hatchback 2 weeks ago and I almost cried after hearing that weak sounding horn. I knew their and there that I had to change it, thanks for the video. Just checking, does this upgrade not void the warranty?
As far as I know, this simple modification shouldn't void your warranty. I did this soon after buying my car and it's never caused any problems at the dealer.
Thank you so much for making this video.. I couldn't locate the horne on mine but after watching your video, I now know where it is... will do this tomorrow to my 2021 Corolla Hatch... the current horne is embarrassing...sounds like mouse..🤦♂️
I installed these horns in my 22 Corolla today. Such a big difference. I love my Corolla, but it’s pathetic what Toyota calls a horn. I was almost embarrassed to honk it in traffic. LOL
I have a 2010 toyota corolla and planning to install these. My question is do i need a fuse reaymto install this or just use the wiring adapter like what you did in the video?
thanks for the video. viewer from canada. just wondering, does a relay is needed while connecting 2 horns? im having a 20 corolla and the horn sound very bad. thank you
is it possible to use just one of the PIAA horns (330 or 400 dcb) ? thus eliminating having to piggyback both ? This modification caught my attention but i've never tackled a wiring project like this so I figured an even swap 1 horn for 1 horn would be good. would having only one decibel tone (330 or 400) be no improvement over the really weak Toyota stock horn tone ? Thanks for any advice
You could, but it wouldn’t sound right. The dual horn system is compromised of 2 different tones, one high and one low to combine to the noise you hear in the video. So you could use just one, but it would be either a high or low tone and not as loud.
You want the low tone, if using only one. If I do the work, I am making a statement with the horn. I guess it all comes down to how much attention do you want. My motorcycle has loud ones.
I have a toyota corolla 2010 with weark horn also. I have a question do toyotas use the horns for the car alarm sound also? meaning if someone steals your car they will hear the cheap horn but if you upgrade the horns its suddenly loud?
Definitely gonna change my horn. I have a Corolla too, the horn sounds terrible…thanks for the instructions. What I’ll do different is remove the front bumper and align the horns so they are visible through the grille.
Bro man I how do u get the grown wire from and the pice u put on amezon its not the same thing 2 plug in the car can u send me a link or different link
I've never seen under the hood of the hybrid model, so unfortunately I can't help you there 😅 I guess you'd just have to get creative with where you mount it and possibly fabricate something. Good luck!
@@MattWalters I managed to make it work. There's an identical slot on the other side of the car, so I ran 16 guage wire from that side of the car to to the harness. Works perfectly. Thanks for the video
@@DogsSnipescan also just remove that pedestrian speaker and plug in a resister to trick the car into thinking it’s still there. Then use that spot for the horn. Or simply drill a small hole to screw into, not that crazy.
Thanks dude, did exactly this on a 2023 Corolla SE Hatch (C build-Japan). Same parts. Perfect results. Way better than the factory or Hella's. The grounding wires here are superior than brands built into the brackets. Recommend.
They relay is needed if you're changing from a 1 horn setup to a 2 horn setup, which is the case in this video. However, if you're getting just 1 horn, then you don't need the harness, you' d just be swapping the horn out
Great video overall. Great job with the editing and staying natural and professional with your narration. I appreciate @j penske with the comment for an alternative grounding method.
That’s what I was thinking! It couldn’t possibly cost much more to give it a respectable sounding horn! If you really want to be disappointed, look up the Toyota Supra’s horn lol
I did PIAA Dual Horn setup on my homies Corolla Hatchback too...I stuck the other horn on the Passenger Side though so everything is "symmetrical" not all on one side like how you did yours!...Just wanted see how you did it...Haha...Not bad!!
I only put them both on one side because I didn’t bother to see if there were any mounting points on the passenger side 😅 only noticed after reading this comment!
if you put it the other on passenger side, is it ok to extend the red wire so it will reach it? will it affect if the other wire is longer than the other one? thank you * i will wait for response before buying
I haven’t noticed a difference in any kind of power drain or dead battery since upgrading the horn so I think it’s safe to say it isn’t any more draining than the stock one.
Did you insert the red wire into the black adapter properly? You could also try doing one horn at a time without the harness to see if both horns work. If neither work on its own, but your OEM horn works, then you likely got a defective horn
@@DogsSnipes I reseated the red wire and trimmed it back a bit because they stripped like an entire inch. I also made sure the ground wires were properly attached and that did it :) so yay for big-boy horn, lol
