  • The Flying Reporter returns to Biggin Hill in the PA28 with 'Bertie' after two nights away near Chester. 'Bertie' had visited his old school and loved ones, and was sad to say goodbye.
During this flight, we had to make careful decisions about altitude because of icing cloud tops near Brize Norton. Excellent ATC assistance again.

Very Alan Partridge :) "Would you like a twix? Sorry it's come out of it's wrapper" :) Made me laugh! Great video :)

"Ready as always!" Good for you Bertie. You sounded very sad when you said goodbye to Wales but made me smile when you told Dad off about the bump and your sandwich! Great video Jon, flight kept you busy and video has lots of good content. Thanks for posting.

Another great video Jon. I've been known to do the odd 'brainfart' when passing my message so was good to see it can happen to others ;)
And the more IFR vids you post up the more I feel compelled to go for the IR(R).
    Happy flying, as always

I've only recently subscribed to your videos and have been watching back the catalogue. I plan on taking my ppl this year post lockdown and have used the time to crack on with the theory in the pooleys air pilot manuals.
These videos have help back up all the knowledge and given me real insight about real situations. Really enjoy them these adventures.

    Dad skills: 12/10
I'll be signing up to patreon later. To listen to some of your more premium content.
    Thank you again!

Nice as always nice to see & hear good honest comments from which we can all learn from. Messing up RT communications happens to us all.
Very good awareness of flight conditions & icing risks. Flying down to the SE of the UK is a test to any pilot & always reminds me of the differences of flying in the US which is easy by
    comparison.

    Amazing controlling and flying!
Need to remember to blame the clouds for my bumpy flying ;-)
Looking forward to the next one!!

Another great video Jon. To answer a question you raised... I'm pretty sure the "odd" shaped lake you overflew is Hanmer Mere, a leftover from the Ice Age and one of a few such lakes in that area...the Shropshire mini Lake District. I grew up round there.

Bertie, bless him seemed so sad at leaving, but was still happy to be home.
Does he ever have the opportunity to sit in the right hand seat and fly himself?
    Another great video Jon.

+Lovestationery thanks. We've talked about that, but he's a little too distracting at the moment. Sometime soon I hope though.

Heard you head off on that flight but the left turn off 22 took you away out of sight from me. The comedy lake is Hanmer Mere, a relic of the ice age.

Home is a few miles to the West so usually keep an eye/ear out for interesting local traffic around HAW. Enjoying the videos as an armchair pilot, and good to see the local field from the inside !
