As always, great production! Once I'm done with my PPL, I'll definitely work towards instrument rating. Farnborough radar video was incredible, clarified lot of things and was pleasant to watch, it was clear from the very start how much effort and attention was put towards production quality. Vastly above UA-cam standards, no wonder it's so popular.
+Ministry Of Twang thanks for your kind comments.
Heard G-CDSF (DA-40) calling up in the background. That's the aircraft I used to fly out of Shoreham! Thanks for the great videos, brings back memories of my flying days.
pleasure, thanks for tuning in.
Another fantastic video Jon! Have (mostly) all my hours in PA28s and not flown for 10 years, now getting back into it at Goodwood and you videos are fascinating and informative. I'm already up for asking for a basic service :-) Flight Information Service in my day! Bravo Sir.
John, For those that make any negative comments about your videos I have this to say to them. If they don't like something don't watch it - simple. I enjoy your videos and the content. I'm not a pilot but I have learned a lot from your videos. I did get some very sad news today. A friend of mine who has been a corporate pilot for over 25 years and who often times flew from the USA to the UK has passed away and it wasn't while performing his job duties. As my wife would say, Take No Notice of the negative comments.
+D C thanks, and sorry to hear about your friend.
Very interesting to see the differences between the UK and US in regards to General Aviation operations. Excellent videos!
+Douglas DeFouw Jr cheers Douglass.
You know I'm a fan of your videos Jon, and this one's no different... and it's good to see just a 'raw' flight.
Have fun at HusBos - I've done a few glider flights there in the past, you'll love it.
You'll have to let me know if you ever venture up to Nottingham Tollerton as I'd gladly buy you a coffee :)
+Nick T appreciate that Nick.
Nice production work again. Some really nice views despite the weather.
Thanks Jilles.
Totally awesome with fantastic views of the clouds. I think you and I may have met very briefly once at Lydd some years ago when I was doing some night flying. Thanks for a really good video and please keep them coming.
+David Cornwell thanks David.
As always, a pleasure to watch your videos and learn something new. Thumb up!
Thanks Cristian.
Another enjoyable video and looking forward to your next Production 🛩
Thanks for watching.
Great vid and very clear, both picture and vocals. I've subscribed and look forward to catching up with the others you have listed. Thanks for doing these. Your hard work is much appreciated.
Thanks Kevin. Welcome aboard.
nice little flight thanks for sharing......
Pleasure Richard
Great video - these are keeping me going whilst I wait for my next PPL lesson! Thanks for posting!
Pleasure. Good luck with the training.
A great video. This helps me with my PA28 in FSX (flight simulator). I may even do a trial flight for my 50th next year. Thanks for posting.
+Kev thanks Kev.
Very nice video! Lots of cool cloud surfing
+CharlieClass156 thank you. Lots of fun!
Another enjoyable video Jon. I would have followed up on your request and volunteered to help you at Hus Bos but I am afraid I already had plans for the day. I am looking forward to the video. My gliding experience was as an air cadet a very long time ago now! :)
+Jodel Flyer thanks Tim. Fingers crossed for the weather.
Another great video, Jon! Always great to see pilots visiting my home base. Did you visit the Aero club at all?
No, I didn't I wasn't there long. Was picking up a passenger for a flight.
Nice trip!
Thank you kind sir.
Great video! Seems like all the traffic on Farnborough frequency is from the pilot centre
+Alpha Tango thanks. Is that shoreham?
The Pilot Centre are Denham, probably one of the busiest and largest flying school in the Greater London area.
@@TheFlyingReporter nope, Denham
Another great video. Any chance you could include an overview of your planned route in future videos, perhaps using SkyDemon or similar?
Yeh, I ought to do this more. You can see the track flown on my website www.jonhunt.net
Enjoyed that once again John. How many hours are you up to now?
Hi Andy. Thanks. Not sure...in the 280 region I think...
The Flying Reporter fair play. Looking forward to watching the gliding vid ;)
My favourite video, very informative. ( ignore the dislikes, your videos are excellent.)
Thanks Anthony.
Great video, Jon! Do you think you'll go for the full IR in the future?
+Flying101 thanks. i'd like to, but don't have the time to study at the moment.
Great video, love every minute of it... however, there is something bogging me. You are flying IFR, you're going in and out of the clouds. But ATC gives you only basic service. Are you able to avoid other traffic? Another flight might be doing the same and he pops out of a cloud a little close. I wonder how that goes?
+a320homecockpit I try and get a Radar service if possible, but it isn't always possible. I could have switched to Southend who may have been able to give me a better service for a little longer. I was pretty much VMC so wasn't too stressed about it. It worries me at first, but I was told during training that it's a big sky, and no one can remember the last mid air collision in IMC.
Is it me or do we not usually get to see you fly about the clouds? Is that because there were low-cloud formations or some other reason? Great video, either way
+Michael Hope low cloud on this day's flight. I only really fly IFR if I have to, or for practice.
Looks fantastic! I'm not learning to fly but flying fascinates me so I'm spending my break watching this. Keep up the good work
Great video thank you. Would you mind to share the route section of what you filed in your flight plan ?
+dave jones no formal flight plan filed. I had a flight plan on my GNS430W that I activated. The flight plan Farnborough Radar referee to would have been my airborne filed route details.
Would you be kind enough to link to a website selling the specific ipad mini yoke mount you use on you PA28 please I want one too! Thank you for a great channel.
+dave jones hi. there's a link in my FAQ section on my website.
For the overhead join at Lydd I though you are supposed to descend dead side and fly over the threshold of 21 at circuit height to join crosswind ?
Not every join is the same.....from the AIP: "Light aircraft joining via Rye, Tenterden, Ashford or those routeing inland from Folkestone will, unless otherwise
instructed, join overhead at 1500 ft QNH, descend crosswind, and turn downwind at 1000 ft. DO NOT DESCEND
DEADSIDE."
got it thanks, never been there I see that is in pooleys flight guide too
what is the controller referring to when she says only have secondary transponder at 11:05 - all transponders are on secondary radar anyway!
I was at the edge of her radar coverage area, and I suspect she was unable to see any primary targets from that area, and so was only receiving secondary transponder returns...therefore, she couldn't give me any traffic information on any traffic that wasn't transponding.
Do you enjoy flying practically buried in the charts and all other papers while your iPad is "playing" a passenger role doing nothing but tracking? And it's all there, charts, frequencies, and so on, at your finger tips.
I'm happy flying the way I do. My IPad is giving me situational awareness.
