    i was convinced that i HAD to wet style my curly hair for the longest time because of damage and dryness but I realized damp styling tends to work much better on my texture and wet styling use to make my products just slip off or be absorbed into my hair.

    This is soooo true , I had huge curl clumps and it takes forever to dry with diffuser so I separate them to help hair dry faster

    Hey, beautiful
    Thank you for this clearly detailed video.
    Why is applying your gel/jelly better for you this way vs brushing through?
    For me, I noticed that my hair didn't last for the usual 5ish days, lasted 2-3 and was on the dryer side.
    Thanks!
    🥂💖

      Hey :) I brushed my gel through here. This is my prefer way to apply gel because my curls last more. 💕

    Do you struggle w clumps forming back together after you seperate them (during sotc)? I cant figure out how to make mine stop 😭

    • @AlexasCurls
      @AlexasCurls  2 роки тому +9

      Mine do but when I separate them they don’t really clump back together throughout the day. Just when I go to sleep and tie my hair up then I just fix it the next morning. But watch the last video before this one. Using a brush then a comb can help with this.

      This happens to me too! It is super frustrating. I have learned that the reason for this is my curl pattern. More specifically the direction of my curls. My curls literally all spiral the same direction. Makes for no guess work when styling them. Though my curls gathering together is a serious problem 😓😅 lol.

      Update. Mains by Mell just released a video on a trick that breaks up curl clumps while wet. The purpose was to create volume. However I styled my hair using this technique today. Shockingly my curls actually stayed separated the entire day😯🙌🏽. A must try.

    I have really thick curly hair but it's bone straight out of the shower and not tangled at all. I'm able to apply products evenly without sectioning. I just part it down the middle and apply product to both sides and the back. Do you think sectioning is necessary to get a better curl pattern or is the point of sectioning to make sure product is distributed evenly?? BTW you inspire me to get bangs. I love your hair!

    my naturally coarse hair that is high porosity due to permanent coloring does not play nice with me if I try to style damp. It's gotta be wet, especially if I'm using a strong-hold gel that day (I tend to go for medium-strong and the directions on those gels will often say "style on wet hair"). Even if it's one of my holy grail products, if I style on damp I run the risk of creating frizz or accidentally causing 'flash drying."

      Yesss wet styling is so important for so many people. I’m so happy it works for you 💕💕💕

      oh man, you changed my life with this comment. i didn’t know “flash drying” was a thing and just thought my hair was extremely porous. it often dries before i even have time to style it. I can walk outside with soaking hair and in 10 minutes it’ll be dry. I thought i was a mutant but i can finally learn how to prevent that. thank you

    • @AlexasCurls
      @AlexasCurls  2 роки тому +3

      hey I've seen people with shorter hair apply similar tips I did in this video :) also some people with shorter hair tend to not brush style.

      i have like collar bone length hair and it shrinks up to my mid neck. i brush style and i apply a decent amount of gel or finger coil certain products and diffuse for length. if i want volume i’ll just do what she did in the video.

      Thanks ladies! I'm looking for an approach that's faster than finger coiling that still smooths my (coarse) hair. Will try this...
