Goul is amazing when having a small bar on the right. It makes life manageable. I never thought about using a big bar on the right for Necromancer though
Worth mentioning is economics, because 10H$ vitalityshot is not enough to restore full HP having small bars on the right. Also probability of using two instead of one medkit charge is rising with big-small-big-small and big-4small (obviously without traits)
Yeah just play a few games with small HP bars and you will burn through ur meds. small bars cannot compete with big bars since healing is so important in Hunt. Not to mention that you will loose a small bar much faster with bleed or worse with burn. small bars are only ok when running with a big reg. shot.
Finally a video i can link people when they ask what bars are the best. This question appears quite often still. Personally i preferer a big bar on the right anyway, because usually i am the last to still be alive and most of the time when i die first my partners follow me soon. But hey :D
Big little big little all the way. I feel like it's rare that I get downed more then once and still win. And I just cannot stand losing a big. Imo after you're at 100 you're just always one tap and 100hp is the same as having 1hp
If I expect to get downed due to how my team is set up (memes or close range), I like to run this combination as well with resilience. With resilience a fast combat res or necro gets me up with 125hp again, and I can get back on the offensive immediately, making memery or CQB more successful.
Another reason to run big on the right is weak Vit shots. Whenever you have a big bar on the right, weak Vitality shots are essentially full heals as long as you have more than half of your last bar, since it will get you into the final bar and regen will get you the rest of the way. Nice to keep in mind when playing solo cause you can save 50 dollars per Vit shot so its not so financially painful if you (likely) die.
Having a big bar at the end is also very useful for being always able to use a world medkit/doctor-boosted support item medkit immediately with any hp to regen back to full bars (even at 1 hp, it will heal you to 101 hp, which puts you back on your last bar, allowing the rest to then quickly regen on its own). This can be super useful in many situations, and helps prevent fuck-ups where you accidentally use healing when below 26 hp and end up wasting a heal that way. Also, it is great for budget purposes - with a big bar at the end, I always run small vit shot and large vit shot until I get doctor. Reason being, it allows me to heal twice from the first bar to the last bar, but for 55 or so bucks less. I rarely need to use a vit shot super quickly to heal to full, and practically never twice in a match, so having one with this drawback of having to wait until you are above 25 hp is a non-factor to me.
Nice video! I might add that for many players it's also an economic decision to take a big bar on the right, because you can heal it up with a small vitality shot, with a little patience.
4 small is terrible for me as "did someone see a medkit" is indeed name of the game. :D For teams I prefer to use big small small or small big small for PvP - you have the 125 health after revive (it is extremely valuable), having someone with 100 or less is usually a "where is the next exit" for us and the big bar helps in case of PvE and falling damage, but also being shot while retreating. For sniper gameplay I try to use small small big as most shots coming your way when engaging will not hit for 50 or more. You can however lose a small bar, which makes resources like medkits more relevant for you. The small bars in the middle are to ensure that you can be revived more often in case it goes south.
Great guide but i am "big-bar-on-the-right" main here. small bars at the right only works when yo play with a coordinated team. but i mostly play solo and random duo/trio
To solve the necro problem take pack mule and two regin shots. PS plz tell Dennis about the hellfire hand crossbow bolts. I'd even take them on the bow but not the big crossbow
My personal hate-layout is big-small-big-small: get a 25 burned by hellfire / immolator / yellow barrel / a horde of grunts swarming you and then being onetapped by a sparks from up to 68m to the chest... fun
That's interesting that you mentioned salveskin saving your big bar. I've never considered that. I always choose small bars on the right with the assumption that it would protect me from losing a whole big bar. Maybe you don't lose that much hp from a hellfire without salveskin?
Nice video, but I wanted to add that if the enemy throws a hellfire bomb and shoots it in mid air, it will instantly burn 50 points off your hunter. I don't know if this can be countered by having salveskin.
I started to give a reasoning why I always try to pick as many 25hp bars as possible but accidently drifted into the game philosophy of Hunt Showdown xD Now my reasoning in short: Always be prepared to die in this game and dont get tilted because it's not all about skill. Except for playing as solo there are only very specific/situational reasons to run with 50hp bar and you will probably encounter those less than your own hunter randomly dying. You will realize it as your are getting more experienced. Just play the way you like and try to have fun :)
I think small bar on the right is 1000% the most important for teams, because anyone can fall prey to a random long ammo shot. My personal favorite is small bars and a regen shot! Generally speaking, out of combat it isn't too difficult to stumble upon a medkit, wagon, or toolbox, and in combat it lets you rotate and heal. Being forced to stand still while healing, plus that signature "aaaaaah" sound of healing up, really bugs me. You only have a small time window per shot though, so make it count!
I'm an "all bigs" kinda guy, even in teams. because usually, my team mates are so bad they're not usually picking me up. lol And the times they go down first, then its like solo play, so I'd rather play what I know. If I do get rez'd, more than likely the boss is already dead/banished so its just time to extract.
Does the solo part apply nowadays too? I joined recently, but I heard Necromancer didn't let you revive yourself in the past. Or or does let you do so at the moment of recording? I think self revive & being burned after being downed can influence the decision a lot
@@PsychoghostGaming so revive count is more valuable than a chance of saving a big bar while alive or saving a big bar while downed and burning? Now I wonder if there is a guide on how to revive yourself to save most bars and to not get killed right away as you self res :P
Not related to the video but I know you recently hooked up duel monitors and had to dial Hunt down to 1440 for the stream. How does your new monitor perform outside of its native resolution? Still pretty and super smooth? I’m thinking of that route myself.
Im personally a bigger fan of big small small big, losing a med-kit charge to some random chip damage has put me into too many bad situations. Also, as I run Doctor + Phys (as i assume everyone does.) wasting that one charge hurts that much more.
big bar, double small bar, big bar, what my friends call "gamer health" from the small vit shot and the ability to keep a bar from hellfire/yellow barrel/starshell/flare oh yeah and we use necro a lot
Despite lots of hours played i didnt consider that resilience works best with big small big small. In general i feel like i have a better understanding of health chunks going forward. Though i do feel like you missed out on best for budget conversation. The examples of the two types of vitality shots and which health chunks are best with it. Something many new players wont know about. Either way tho, i agree small chunk at the start better for veterns than new players. Of which i think big small small big is great for new players as they can play around with necro and the environment without feeling too much pain unless long ammo fight.
It's Robert here previous youtube account vanished. Best health bars to have are the ones that make up to 200 hp 😉 it seems sometimes some people get lucky with that. 😄

big bar on the right will save you a lot from losing a bar for ai... but then again if you go down you lose a big bar, and thats a lot when fighting ppl
Hey Mike, I have a HUGE issue with left-side-peek. I feel like 50% of my games are decided by this, and there are certain paths on the map that I just can't take because of it. Do you talk to the developers sometimes? What do you think, are they working on it? Will they get it sometime in the future? Or is it too hard to fix? With shotguns I realized a reaction-time advantage. Sometimes people are so fast when coming from the left, as if they would be cheating, they jump the corner and shoot at the same time. When they come from the right, it's the total opposite, like they look you in the eye first, then they nod, and only if they aren't dead by then, they might shoot. If you enter the boss lair for example while there's another team, sneaking up somewhere where you have to right-side-peek is like beating up a meathead with your medkit. With ranged weapons, especially scopes, everyone simply abuses trees. I've literally watched someone, who I knew had spotted me, sneak into left-side-peek position first before giving off a shot, making himself invulnerable through this. His head was completely concealed, behind some metal bar, too. I consider this a major bug. They made the sound of the game just beyond amazing. And the atmosphere. But what on earth made them put the player cam into the shoulder???? Who in his right mind does that?
This is just another layer of skill expression. Being cognizant on left-peeking and making pathing and engagement choices based on that, is being better at the game. It's also something easy to blame losing on, so there's that. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
@@Taeerom Well, I couldn't agree less. By your logic I think you could make an argument for ping abuse being a skill... Also, you might not believe it, but I'm actually NOT like everybody else. Since I'm aware of this problem, I'm forced to abuse left-side-peek, but not every player knows, or might forget in the heat of the moment, exposing his wrong side to me without even knowing I can see him. I've been shot down enough times, but I've also seen enough players expose their whole body to me and not shoot, they didn't see me because of nonsensical game limitation. It's not a strategical choice I make, like taking a path which is good/bad for my loadout, it's the engine that cuts off certain options because of bad game design choices. Btw, you sound like someone who gets excited when the engine provides you with an easy kill.
@@Taeerom Well, I did just die to left side peek. While I was holding the angle, he peeked with literally an elbow, then stepped back. And then sidestepped and made a 100% accurate headshot at the same time. I will get a kill today in the same manner, doesn't matter. Just 2 games wasted. I also think this is the reason people run around crying "cheaters" all the time.
@@nightmareTomek This is like arguing passing is cheating in FIFA. It's part of the game, part of the things you can do. Holding an angle rightsided might be a mistake, and you got punished for it.
I'm just always like "haha any bars go brrr" I don't care about my bar setup and i also go face the other bounty (if there is one) with just 100 or even 75 max hp. That way you learn really quickly to not get hit by others and to not peek a corner twice and so on.
Anyone experiencing a sound bug in hunt ? My sound is muffled and things are far than it should be. I tried changing the frequency to 44100hz, i notice an improvement, but hunt sound was better before
I used to like Big Little Big Little alot, and I still do, however having big small small big has been really growing on me, I used to get so annoyed from losing my little from every little hit I take. (My teamates tend to be real memers who like to hit me or shoot me all the time.)
Immolators count as pesky AI too right? As a solo i personally fight immolators a lot and sometimes he gets shot and i‘m missing 25 instantly or some people use the knuckle knife and accidentally hit it so yeah, 50 bars are even better for that reason
@@PsychoghostGaming I love them when I play close range / aggressive (which I mostly do). If I need my healing quicker I can always use a medkit on top of it.
for new players specifically during the 2023 tide of curruption event you really dont have to worry about the economic reasons for running a small on the right. with the new syringe update sure a 100 hunt dollar syringe is expensive but the health regen it gives it insane now. as well as with how much money you get from matches now really pay off all you spend. getting 1k to 3.3 k hunt dollars per win now.
As a perpetual solo, I can attest to the 3 Big Bars and/or Big Bar Right configuration. I remember back when medkits specifically filled 1 bar, instead of 50hp, so having 3 Big Bars was even MORE important back then! I do think the an SBSB configuration would help make the most of your medkit charges, but using valuable resources while getting attacked isn't exactly what I would call "META."
@@Sovreign071 No they mean that you literally can not have a small bar as the first one lol SBSB isn't possible though I'd hazard a guess and say you meant to write BSBS or SBS
also, if u can always manage not to die like an idiot (from crouching around during gunfight/crouch peeking like a snail, and exposing urself out in the open, etc.). you should really use the 50+50+50 bars, cause this saves me a lot of health items because there's little chance that u'll need a medkit after getting shot by a winfield, conversion, uppercut to the leg at long range. edit: forgot to mention that this is for when ure with a team. also mostly only works if u like playing with long ammo (sparks, mosin, martini, berthier, lebel). Shotgun gameplay? stick with small bars cause u won't need 150 health to avoid dying from another shotgun or close range weapons, ur chance are only 50/50 from dying immediately or surviving a shot which would barely take half of ur health.
I dont care about that. Whenever i grab a free hunter silly equipped with randoms in trios, its 75% win. Whenever i break my brain for the right skills or the best health bars, then realy clever and expensive loadout, we spawn with silly randoms loud as fuck next the headshooting monsters... its like the karmamonkey in the hunt code always got an eye on me for never neer get rich and famous^^ not crying bout that, got my fun anyway, as long as a not cross the almost level 50 hunter line and the expensive loadout with good skills line... yeah yeah... two red lines... karmamonkey got eyes on it^^
I like 50 25 25 50 as a solo, because if you get hit once as you said and have 75 HP left, you can heal 75 dmg with only 1 med kit. If you have doctor obvs 50 50 50 is the best
They should really just remove the mechanic that fire can burn away a bar. Just make it so that the bar is burned and slowly regenerates. So much stuff does damage in this game just PvE wise alone. You have no control over whether you get a big bar to the right or not and then have an unlucky encounter with an immolator or one of those grunts with lanterns or the hellfire bomb and then you are immediately at an disadvantage with 25 hp or more gone and no way to recover unless you get a banish which you don't in many games. Poison, bleed and explosives doesnt do this, so why is fire so OP compared? They should either remove the mechanic or atleast make more options to recover bars in game. Like maybe get bars back the first time you pick up a bounty from a dead hunter you killed.
This videos didn't help me at all for what I searched like doesn't explain how to get these health bars or if you can heal them after they burn like your explaining how you can take damage that's pretty obvious information
Big little Big little, worst case scenario you will have 2 bars left which will be 75 hp. Edit: also having resilience is fantastic for them too because you get all your health back when you get revived ( big bar regenerates)

Immolators count as pesky AI too right? As a solo i personally fight immolators a lot and sometimes he gets shot and i‘m missing 25 instantly or some people use the knuckle knife and accidentally hit it so yeah, 50 bars are even better for that reason
Doesn't necro Cost 50 HP to use right now?
Nope 25
so awesome
Hm curious to hear other peoples first
Lets feed the algorithm!
The medkit arguments on small bars are fine but regen shots negate all of these downsides
I think regen shot is kinda meh :D
@@PsychoghostGaming I love them when I play close range / aggressive (which I mostly do). If I need my healing quicker I can always use a medkit on top of it.
I'd like to tell you all a tip from a poor man. If u run 3 big bars do not overpay for big vit shots and take small ones instead. Saves money 💰
Yeah, I was waiting for that argument/tip during the first segment, too.
The answer: ANY.
GET GOOD.
KEKW
for new players specifically during the 2023 tide of curruption event you really dont have to worry about the economic reasons for running a small on the right. with the new syringe update sure a 100 hunt dollar syringe is expensive but the health regen it gives it insane now. as well as with how much money you get from matches now really pay off all you spend. getting 1k to 3.3 k hunt dollars per win now.
Lol what? Your first bar can't be small...
@@mindfictiontv4664 As per my above comment, "not exactly 'META.'"
@@Sovreign071 No they mean that you literally can not have a small bar as the first one lol SBSB isn't possible though I'd hazard a guess and say you meant to write BSBS or SBS
Big small small is inefficient for poor boys who use weak vitality shots, and a regen shot can help deal with the necromancer issue.
best hp bar setup is ONE BIG BAR of 150 hp!!!!
All the solo player dream about hehe
I prefer big small small big. I don't like to be much careful.
also, if u can always manage not to die like an idiot (from crouching around during gunfight/crouch peeking like a snail, and exposing urself out in the open, etc.). you should really use the 50+50+50 bars, cause this saves me a lot of health items because there's little chance that u'll need a medkit after getting shot by a winfield, conversion, uppercut to the leg at long range.
edit: forgot to mention that this is for when ure with a team. also mostly only works if u like playing with long ammo (sparks, mosin, martini, berthier, lebel). Shotgun gameplay? stick with small bars cause u won't need 150 health to avoid dying from another shotgun or close range weapons, ur chance are only 50/50 from dying immediately or surviving a shot which would barely take half of ur health.
Nice, but I never cared cause legendary hunters will come with random health anyways and so I can not really "choose".
Nice guide! Background music was a bit too loud thou, hard to concentrate on what you're saying.
Can you actually change the layout of the HP bars or is it just a matter of rolling for new hunters?
Respect +
I dont care about that. Whenever i grab a free hunter silly equipped with randoms in trios, its 75% win.
Whenever i break my brain for the right skills or the best health bars, then realy clever and expensive loadout,
we spawn with silly randoms loud as fuck next the headshooting monsters... its like the karmamonkey in the hunt code always got an
eye on me for never neer get rich and famous^^
not crying bout that, got my fun anyway, as long as a not cross the almost level 50 hunter line and the expensive loadout with good skills line...
yeah yeah... two red lines... karmamonkey got eyes on it^^
I like 50 25 25 50 as a solo, because if you get hit once as you said and have 75 HP left, you can heal 75 dmg with only 1 med kit.
This system feels pointless, why not just give all hunters 3 big bars?
Revives
It doesn’t seem to matter how I set up my hunter health bar, I always get blown away with one headshot or shotgun blast.
This comment is five words.
The words "Optimal Setup:" in the Solo Setup section slowly move to the right.
Also this comment is five words ;)
If you didn't skip the solo health bar, you should consider the likelihood of you just not being smart.
I accept dislikes.
