If you go on a round trip, like most people do, the pricing is quite different. On round trips, you are likely to pay 800~900 Euros minimum for Thai's Economy whereas middle eastern carriers sell Economy tickets from 600-700 Euros (with a layover in the middle east).
The key thing to say about Thai economy from Europe to BKK is that they haven't densified their 777s to ten. The old school 9 abreast makes a big difference for spaciousness. I don't think they have re-introduced their A380s or even if they still have them. So 777 is your typical aircraft of comparison with - BA, Lufthansa and EVA, which are all ten abreast. One review or another may find poor food or service or suggest an airline has gone downhill or whatever, but, that might just be a bad one off. To me, the fundamental of hard product is key, especially when in economy things are so tight. If you can get 9 abreast, that matters most. Thai have it. A very valid alternative is the middle eastern route, which has a longer total time but makes it perhaps feel more reasonable in two stages, which is important as the seating is cramped to be stuck in for so long. It is possible to have both more spacious seating and this staging benefit if you choose Emirates and make sure your planned aircraft are the A380 for both stages. To me this would be an ideal, however there is the risk of aircraft substitution which means it would likely be a 777 and yes Emirates put theirs to 10 abreast also. Qatar has a more diverse aircraft fleet so even if you find a two stage A380 flight with them there is more risk of substitution. Going Premium Economy, the best direct service is with EVA, from various European airports. Thai don't do it. BA and Lufthansa ( they being particularly annoying as their seat width varies so much by aircraft ) are smaller and less well served. BA suspended the route so that helped make the route more expensive in recent times. They are due to return but their PE product isn't nearly as good as EVA. Choosing a two stage middle eastern way, its only Emirates that bother with PE. While it is rather gorgeous, you do also pay for it ! From Europe probably your best bet in PE is with EVA after BA return to the route. The benefit of breaking the journey via Dubai is less in PE as your comfort is a good bit better than in economy anyway. Better to get it over with in one go - with EVA. So to conclude, your best options from Europe to BKK : Economy direct : Thai Economy two stage : Emirates, choosing A380 flights. PE direct : EVA PE two stage : Emirates, any aircraft that has it
And even their newer 777 is still 3-3-3, which is good. Flew them to tokyo (nrt) which was a weird use for their new 777. Also used the older 777 (mentioned on your video from syd-bkk and vice versa and weird a330 on a red eye from hnd to bkk, apart from bkk to syd, i got at least an empty seat, on 777 i flew the back of the plane so its 2 abreast and a330 is by defult). Think now sydney flights are twice daily with a350 compared to once daily with 777. The timing was hella weird, day flight into sydney, store aircraft overnight and piss off the following morning when usual usage depart overnight and turn around within a few hours.
Definitely yes! I have started flying with thai airways as my first flight. One time i changed airways but regretted it. Thair airways has the hest economy class
As a Thai person I would recommend business class for long flights on Thai airways. I have been using Thai airways for more than 12 years now and it’s great
Thai has always been my favourite. However, I can’t understand the flight attendant, as I have serious hearing loss and even with my hearing aids on and the attendants wearing masks, I can’t hear what they are saying when giving me the choices of meals. Please PLEASE bring back the card menu. Or even hand out A4 paper printed menus? It’s so difficult for us deaf people.
No matter if you are hearing impaired or not, often you don’t understand thai English anyway. Especially when you hear it for the first time. But sometimes they struggle with my thai accent, too. Always have a laugh with the crew
Nice flight! HS-TKK was the thai oldest 777-300er or the one HS-TKK-HS-TKR was 777-3ALER or leased version butHS-TKV-HS-TKZ wasn't leased the dif is the seats colors and 3 new 777-300er with first class HS-TTA TTB TTC but thai still use3-3-3 config i recommended you to buy prefer seat for legroom. I have been using it
I flew Thai from bkk to Melbourne recently. The food was fine, the service was basic.. they serve meals and disappear. I had to walk to the gallery to ask for a second glass of wine on a 9hour 30 min flight.. they ignored the call buttons. Walked straight past. No handing out of water. No offering of service of second drinks. Also I caught influenza from the flight. It was freezing cold. But they didn’t bother to increase the heat until I went to the galley and requested it. They are a good airline but the price I paid was too expensive. $650.00 AUD
You got lucky with your seats, flight didn't look full, i slept like a baby in 2019 on the lhr/bkk midday flight , sleapt across the 3 seats as the arm rests lifted up, did yours do the same on the 777 ? shortest and most comfortable flight ever on the now disbanded a380 due to me grabbing 6+ hours sleep on the 12 hour flight,.Did you enter TH without being asked for onward/return flight ticket by either thai airways check in at frankfurt or thai immigration ?
Great video. Very informative. I am booking my brother flights from Germany to Thailand and this was a perfect video to help me make a good flight choice. My only concern is that he is 195.0cm and such a long flight could become uncomfortable.
I went in 2023 Frankfurt-Bangkok but i have to say that Thai Air is not that airline anymore i will recommend.. I am 1.93 and in the past they fly with the terrific Airbus A380.. A modern spacy airplane. The Boeing 777 is like a sardin can and out of date..
I have been waiting 4 and a half years for a refund re Covid cancelled flights...Thai Airways putting all sorts of excuses to delay this Refund...Incompetence or theft.....U DECIDE
If you have evidence that there is approval for the refund, contact your bank and do a charge back on the credit card. I had the same issue during Covid and the bank immediately refunded the full amount.
Very enjoyable and informative video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. My only complaint with THAI is that on their 787 Dreamliners, the Econ seats are very hard and uncomfortable on long haul flights.
At least germany look after their smokers haha.... i think there aren't that much airports in the world where you can have a smoke after passport control and whatnot...
Lufthansa, I will never travel with them again! This summer I came back from tokyo to paris with a transfer at Munich with Lufthansa! My munich paris flight has been cancelled for whaterver reason, so I spent a night a Munich. It takes us 46 hours to do Tokyo / Munich / Berlin / Paris! It is known that Lufthansa cancelled flights due to lack of personal, so never again with this company
I concur. They canceled my short haul flight back home after Christmas. No reason given whatsoever. Had to spend extra on the overnight accommodation. They're bullshit. IDK how they got 5 stars. Oh! yeah I know, it's Skytrash
Sad how Thai Airways only thinks chinese subtitles but no englisj subtitles on persone TV seat , Thebseatbare a little short on the knees , Never going back to Thai airways. Lufthansa better
Had been flying THAI since 1986 & it had been consistently top notch. Post-covid had been a struggle but THAI is coming around smooth as silk!
I love your editing style. Brilliant!
Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot!
With the Thai Airways Screens you have to use your Fingernale, that's how I do it all the time
Enjoyed your review, thanks! Great attention to detail and chilled out vibe 😃
Thanks!
Thank you for your honest review about Thai Airways 👍👏
Your accent and demeanor is adorable 😊

Thai Airways Is Better Then Moost Of Europian Airlines In Economy My Opinion.Great Trip Report
The cost of Thai is really expensive compared to what you get. I would prefer to fly on one of the Middle Eastern carriers on a connecting flight.
and service is very good .europian people cant service at all !
Anything is better than European and American airlines. Europe and the Americas is sooooo OVERRATED!!

11:27 Can you break down why you give Thai airways a 6/10, what's the expection of not meeting your expectation?
Because it’s basic. Does the job no thrills. He thought food portions were small as well.
Hello. Was the meals included in ticket price or you have to pay for it?
you seem not very clever
How did you enter Thailand on a one way ticket?
It's not One way
Thru passport control
Please always request a double meal, whenever you receive a small portion!!

Hi! I'm about to fly to Frankfurt using thai airways and was wondering does the economy class seat have a usb socket where i can charge my devices?
Yes

You have the best skin dude
Ermmm TG have 81 cm. seat pitch as same as EK while QR have 79 cm. 🤔
Good to know there's cashew nuts in the curry as I'm allergic.

nice honest review thanks

Just curious: did your brother feel uncomfortable on his flight? I'm 191cm and als wondering whether I should fly Thai airways or not. ;-)
@@jo1261 I was actually able to get him in an aisle seat and he did just fine.

Did you have any problems at Thai immigration, because you didn't have a return ticket ?
They didn't ask for it, but I had an onward ticket.
Who wants to eat a huge meal on 11hr flight....would push out a dump...not good
It may depends
I'm flying economy and I'm 190cm tall, will I go crazy?
There are seats with extra legroom that you can choose.
Can Thai fly over Russia ?
Please always request for an extra meal in any such flight

I love my flight in 2014. But I think after covid, thai airways did not manage to recover its quality
Love TG.❤
10 euros for a beef jerky?? That's robbery.
Even still my favorite airline 😁
I thought Thai Airways was bankrupt,,, in the 90s was one of the best with 747
