      This is one of the few good things to come out of the Brexit fiasco, since the UK pound has tanked against the US$ . It is now easier and cheaper to make things in the UK as our labour prices are more competitive for export, and imports are more expensive. Our fastest growing markets are selling to India and far east. EVERY CLOUD.

    Just today installed a TEC Bike Parts x-pipe on my Triumph T120. Very pleased! There's more sound. Not different, just more, and very pleasant. The bike has always had a very sensitive throttle, a little abrupt. This is gone. Throttle response is now VERY smooth. There's a little less engine braking available than there was, but not by much. There's still no decel pop. No engine remap was necessary. This X-pipe fits nicely with no "persuading", using the original seals and clamps. It doesn't hurt that this righteous little mod reduces the bike's weight by 4 lbs. Nicely done, gents!

      With no dyno access there's no way to confirm any performance increase. Certainly feels nice, though. Fuel economy is right where it was.

    So, I just finished installing the Tec X-Pipe and man, what a difference! It sounds amazing, and the low speed throttle response is greatly improved. I could not be happier. I expected it to sound better, but I wasn't expecting the smooth throttle response. In my opinion it was worth it just for that alone. The deep rumbling sound is a bonus!
    I also installed their bar-end mirrors. They look great, were a breeze to install, and they provide a better sight picture than the the stock mirrors, and you can't beat the price.
    Two thumbs up for Tec Bike Parts. If you're in the market for a de-cat or some mirrors to jazz up your Triumph, I can definitely recommend these guys.

      @@salskars6637 Yes. I'm still running the stock silencers. I think they sound fine, but I've never been crazy about the pea shooter looks, so I may buy some slip-ons one of these days just to improve the looks. But I have a bunch of other money to spend first. I'm looking at windscreens, passenger back rest, panniers, mini LED indicators, and a few other things. Plus, I need some new riding gear, like a summer mesh jacket and a jacket for the other 3 seasons, gloves, pants, etc..
      If I'm not flat broke by then maybe I'll look I to some better looking pipes.

    Hi there, installed BP, opened filter and DECAT/XPIPE on my TTR all parts from TEC. Have Shorties opened and the engine just thanked me. Sound brutal, engine response spot on and revs perfect. No hesitation to say pure joy ride. Ecu calibrated itself. Dont need more, done 100 km on known ride to compare and just go for it if U want to refresh your ride.

    Thanks for the walkthrough. I didn't have as much free play in my frame and had to also loosen the other side, and disconnect the kickstand sensor. My clutch cable was also really tight. Eventually I worked the cat out, though, and the xpipe sounds great with my tec slip ons.

    Just fitted the TEC X-Pipe to my T100 Bonnie.....in this vid the tank is not moved....got to be on my T100 as that top frame bolt is behind it.....also leaving the front pipes hanging is not an option.....as my pipes have long extension outer covers.
    Had me scratching my head.
    Test rode the bike....its great....love the sound....and goes great.....and the horrendous heavy engine braking is much improved....more normal feeling now.
    My X-Pipe seems to be a modified version....with pressed upper and lower middle sections.
    I ran my bike up onto 50mm thick lengths of wood....front and back.....makes access easier.....and I could get me head under the X-pipe to see to pesky back clamps.....I have a ctr stand.

    I just fitted a TEC X-Pipe to T120. The procedure is similar. The main difference is the header pipes heat shield. It's in one piece which make alignment a shade trickier. Plus one of my rear cup clamps was a totally 2hat to get seated and clamped. The noise is nice but also my sear of pants dyno says more midrange. I didn't expect to 'feel' and difference. Did me a excellent modification.

    Just put one on my 2017 T120 is does sound good. Not sure if the one for the US comes from different manufacturer, but fitment was not the greatest. Welds had to be ground down in side the pipe, does not slide all the way into the rubber mount on right side of bike, and had to grind down the heat shield to have it fit properly on without rubbing mounting bolts. For the price I would say it is pretty good, but hindsight I think I would spend the extra money on a Motone or one of better build quality.

  • @ProjectImmersion
    @ProjectImmersion 6 років тому

    Fitted this to my 2018 Speedmaster with the 1200HT engine today. It was a little more tricky, had to remove the footpeg bar as well. One thing I noticed, is the TEC x-pipe is 10mm narrower than the stock cat ONLY at the fixing points, so it sits across to the left by this much, being pulled away from the post on the right by the 2 fixing bolts on the left. It still works as it should though but had a bit of a battle getting the LHS header pipe on, had to widen it at the lower flange because of the slight angle change due to it's skewiffishness to the left, maybe it's by design to get it into place easier, or maybe I have a defectively manufactured unit, I don't know.
    As others have said, more noise (louder and sounds less like a Superdream and more like a Triumph), smoother throttle from pulling away (or am I just getting used to the drive by wire), no noticeable changes otherwise.

    The torque is a function of exhaust scavenging, which the x-pipe crossover accomplishes.
    But to get the air-fuel ratio where it should be especially after opening up the system, you need a power module and/or ECU reflash if you don't want to run lean and give the engine a slow death. You'll regain all the power and then some. Sound will also change with proper air-fuel ratios.

    • @JasonSobell
      @JasonSobell 7 років тому +2

      No, this is all tosh. It's an internet rumour that they run lean. By default the 1200s all run rich on acceleration, and stoich on cruise due to the O2 sensors in closed-loop mode. A PCV can be used to smooth out the delivery and adjust timing, but it's far from necessary.

    • @DEeMONsworld
      @DEeMONsworld 6 років тому

      And from dyno charts I have seen on the 1200cc, they never get close to stoich even on cruise. all this self learning talk makes me question this too. for an ECU to "self learn"or more properly put, adjust the A/F ratio across the entire throttle range, it needs sensor input. Unless the 1200cc twins have wide band Lambda sensors, I don't see any way for these ECUs to self learn. Narrow band sensors which unless i'm wrong are on the 1200cc bikes, (my Street Twin has narrow band sensors BTW), only micro manage the A/F from just below stoich to just above in closed loop. I am speculating, but I think all these bikes are so de-tuned low revving and run so rich from the factory, there is little danger of over leaning them. I would love to see hard data on the 900cc WC twins.

    • @JasonSobell
      @JasonSobell 6 років тому

      The self-learn stuff is all a bit of bollocks. They have trim values that self-adjust, but nothing like some internal AI unit that does mass-adjustments :)
      They do all run perfectly at stoich on the dyno. Charts showing otherwise probably have dodgy gas analysers (which is not uncommon), but a narrowband O2 sensor forces it to be stoich unless they're faulty. What you say re below/above is absolutely correct, and the same on the 1200s, and they only ever run rich on acceleration.

      basically the same except, you need to loosen the tank rear mount and slide it back a couple of inches, (no need to disconnect anything) to get access to frame rail top bolt.
      Best to remove the front pipes fully because of balance pipe , and easier to reinstall if you fit both front pipes at once . so a helper is good for that stage.

    Three things: First, why did it seem like the bike didn't want to start on the first try after fitting the X-Pipe and each subsequent set of cans? Second, would you consider doing an install video for the 1200cc Speed Twin? Unless, the process is absolutely identical. Third, do you absolutely recommend the installation of a "booster plug" with this mod, when sticking with the stock cans and baffles? I've seen where some users have said they didn't need it. However, if these bikes run as lean as they're supposed to, in order to pass Euro 4 and/or Euro 5 regs, I don't see how that's possible.
    Thanks, George! I think this is going to be the first "performance mod" I do to my girlfriend's 2019 Speed Twin!

    • @TECBikeParts

      speed twin is basically the same but like the thruxton and t120 you need to loosen the rear tank mount and pull tank back slightly to gain access to the top R/H frame rail bolt, no need to remove tank or fuel pipes etc.
      Also easier if you remove the full exhaust off the bike and best to have help when re fitting the front pipes as easier to fit both front pipes together.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  5 років тому +1

      Re booster plug, it is not essential to fit one and the bike will run safe with a TEC decat fitted on stock ECU tune .We have done lots of testing to check this on all water cooled twin models. What you find on all stock out of the showroom Euro 4 models is that you have a lumpy throttle response with quite a noticeable lag when coming back on the throttle from fully closed. The TEC de cat pipe helps to reduce this and the booster plug will also help with this by giving a richer mixture during acceleration. Combined they make a big difference to the way the bike rides and makes it much smoother and crisper during acceleration.

      Hi
      No remap available for the 1200cc motors available from Triumph or any other source at the moment. We have done lots of dyno testing and the bike will run safe and OK with the de cat and straight through type silencers.
      However the engine will be more responsive and will run better with a fuel enrichment system fitted.
      You can use a Power commander, but this is a bit of over kill as a Booster plug device will work great and does not need any programming.
      We can supply both the Booster plug or a Power Commander V system.
      The Booster plug is straight plug in ,it takes about 5 mins to DIY install and costs £119.99 from us.

    Hi guys, I bought the x-pipe and tried to install it on my 2018 T120. It didn’t fit right and upon closer look, I noticed that the pipe connections are shorter than on the cat and the hanger on the front end on the unit was welded crooked. So, if I connect the pipes evenly, it doesn’t reach the hanging bolts or if I hang the x-pipe on the bolts, the pipes on the right side barely connect to the unit. Unfortunately, costumer support is MIA this time. Bummer. I’ve purchased other products with great satisfaction in the past.

      Hi
      Very unusual to have any problems with fit on these as made on a very tight jig, but it is possible for some small distortion can occur from welding . Are you in UK or USA. If in the UK you can call or email us and we can talk you through any fitting issues. At TEC we always stand by our products with full no quibble warranty and after sales back up

      Thanks for your prompt response. I’m in the US. I sent support an email with a couple of pictures.
      As I said in my message, I’ve purchased other products in the past (levers and mirrors) and the quality and customer support has always been superb.
      Thanks.

    Dear Sir,
    Thank u for the Wonderful Videos & Tutorials u keep posting, wish your TEC parts could easily be possible to all the way in India, anyways for now i shall be grateful if u could guide me, i see a higher risen Handle bar on the Street Twin in the video above, it ain't Stock..i am facing a lot of discomfort while riding.. my body weight falls on my palms... i did try adding one inch spacers below the the stock handle riser, helped to a small degree but yet not comfortable, the riding position too is backward foot, seat pan slipping down a la sports.. the ride puts pressure on my hands , back and the rears.. basically the bike falls a bit short for my height too.. i come from the upright riding position of the Royal Enfield Classics.. tried changing the handle bars but the cables fall short.. pls care to advise me a solution on the same.
    Thanks , Warm Regards
    Arsh JaiKrishan

      Hi
      yes I had the same problem,slight rise on the bars make bike much nicer to ride.we will soon be making a fat bar conversion kit with several bar options for the street twin and all other bonnie models.
      I have just got a new street scrambler to evaluate and one of the first things I noticed on the bike is the slightly raised bars and the huge difference to feel they make.

    Hello, Very informative video, thanks! Question: does your X-pipe de-cat lessen engine braking after installation on the T120? I ride a lot in the hills. Thanks!

    • @nickaxe771
      @nickaxe771 3 роки тому

      It does on my T100.....which to me is a good thing.....engine braking was far to much for me with the cat.....it feels more like the engine braking I am used to now....still there but more subtle.

  • @davidmain3
    @davidmain3 6 років тому

    I've done mine and yes it is much better but I've an annoying vibration at around 2,800 rpm. It's definitely engine related as I can feel it if I place a hand on the engine cases. Any idea's? or should I put the cat back in?

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  6 років тому +1

      You should not get vibration with this pipe as all rubber mounted, It sounds like you may have not fitted the heat shield on its rubbers , try running with it off and if it still vibrates check all the exhaust mounting rubbers are fitted correctly, Most vibes come from the motor , exhaust don't tend to vibrate but they can transmit engine vibes to the frame if not rubber mounted correctly.

    • @davidmain3
      @davidmain3 6 років тому

      Heat shield fitted fine, and on its rubbers. However the larger rubber grommet in the front mount had split a short distance around its circumference. I'll replace it and hopefully that will resolve it. Many thanks for the swift feed back.

      No need to in the UK as MOT test has no emission testing. not sure about the Spanish ITV though. if it is just a visual check you will be OK as it looks stock.

    I am buying a Street Twin shortly, and wanting to add you slip-ons and x pipe. But I was wondering about warranty issues. Will these items void the factory warranty?

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  6 років тому +2

      Technically it will void the warranty, but we supply these to many triumph main dealers for installation on new bikes.
      I would suggest you get your dealer to install it and it should not be a problem.
      We have not heard of any cases of dealers refusing warranty claims because of de cat pipes.

  • @RicardoSilva-qp4bb

    I notice the handle bars on the street twin are not the original one´s. They seem to be some Renthal ones maybe? I like the look of them on the bike and I´m looking to either find a way to rise the height of the stock handlebars or mount some higher one´s on my Street Twin. Not easy it seems, with the small slack on the cables.
    Can you tell me if, apart from the front brake nipple extension, clutch and front brake cables (witch I´m certain need to be lenghtened), any other cable needed lengthening to install those bars?
    Thank you.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  7 років тому +1

      Hi
      the only part that needs to be lengthened to fit these higher bars is the brake pipe, as you can see i made an extension,all cables are stock

    • @RicardoSilva-qp4bb
      @RicardoSilva-qp4bb 7 років тому

      Thank you for the quick reply. Glad all the cables have room for higher bars (from first inspection it does not seem like they would have enough slack).
      Will have to check how brake bleeding and the likes work - necessary when adding a nipple to the front brake line I believe. ABS brakes seem also a concern on this aspect. Maybe I should get that done on a Triumph dealer.
      If only I could get my hands on a handlebar riser which would lift the stock handlebars a little bit. I believe that could work well enough. Unfortunatly I don´t see any riser which might work (apart from the British Customs one´s which need to ship from USA).
      Thanks again. Really appreciate the help.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  7 років тому +1

      If you are careful you can bleed the brake at the joint with the master cylinder and no need to bleed the full system.I have done this many times without problem.
      To bleed the full system this must be done with dealer diagnostic tool to power the ABS pump and purge the system of air.

    • @RicardoSilva-qp4bb
      @RicardoSilva-qp4bb 7 років тому

      Thank you for the tips. Will have to check to see If I can find any videos regarding this "partial" bleeding you mencion. Just so I can get a better idea of how the procedure is done. Will analise this and if i find it to complicated I´ll have to install the brake nipple directly at the dealer.
      I´ve checked the Renthal website and I do believe the handlebars mounted on your demo Street Twin are the road model one´s. Do you mind teling me what is the model mounted on the bike? (road low/medium or high)? From what I have seen, it seems the low one´s do have more than enough rise compared to the stock handlebars. I just need a bit of a rise in the bars. Nothing to crazy.
      Thank you for any info regarding the handlebar model and the brake bleeding aspect of things. Really appreciate it.

    Hi tec,
    Just purchased your X pipe. I'm a bit confused. Do I need a re-map on my 900 street cup or will the ecu adjust, or do you recommend this Booster plug. Also come MOT time will the bike fail the emmisions test?

    • @rogerinwales
      @rogerinwales 6 років тому

      I believe it is recommended to have a re map (getting mine done tomorrow). ECU will only self adjust on 1200 cc engines eg T120 & Thruxton. Currently in the UK at least, exhaust emissions tests are not part of MoT for bikes.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  6 років тому +1

      No need to remap, in the UK no MOT requirement for a CAT and no emission testing on motorcycles
