I just installed on of these. I'm not mechanical at all, but without my mechanic being able to tell me what it would cost to install I decided screw it and did it myself. Only hang up I had was fitting the front pipes into the x-pipe. Barely got any purchase and am gonna have to wrestle with it some more til I get it. Tec Bike Parts were great: sent email asking for link to install video and received prompt, courteous response on a weekend. Still, took it for a ride and holy crap, surprised the difference was that noticeable. I have Zard exhaust. It's loud on the throttle, but can putter out of the neighborhood quietly before going somewhere else to irritate someone else's neighbors on full throttle.
Good to see a video with someone who’s done the job and can identify problem areas. Good job. I did a review of the x pipe itself on my channel. Nice to see a real persons review.
Too late now, probably, but the clamp shown at 11:58 would not appear to be correctly installed. The clamp should contact and hug the flared flanges all the way around, with about four threads visible where the tip of your finger is. I see eight threads. For me, these clamps were very fiddly and a bit frustrating to install.
Many thanks my mate for the vid....ordered a TEC X-Pipe yesterday....so fitting soon.....want to make a before and after road vid before I change it. Some great tip there....most helpful. You sound just like me...I don't trust anybody else working on my bike....every where is so slap dash these days....killed me having to take my T100 back to the dealer for its first service.....could do it with my eyes closed but did not want to risk the warranty....or having aggro over it. I was trying to compare the Motone re the TEC part as I did not know which one to go for.....did you find out much about the Motone pipe before you got yours.....did you find any performance gains after fitting? You sound like a norther lad like me...Runcorn..... I agree these bikes OOooozz quality. Thanks again for the tips. Nick.
Excellent vid mate those bloody back clamps are twats lol I ended up buying new graphite seals made it much easier. Tec shocks next and your right about the quality 😍👍
I wonder has anybody had the fuel injection system re-mapped after fitting an X-Pipe. I ask as I fitted a TEC X-Pipe to mine around a year ago to my 2020 T100. Love the engine sound and feel of the bike now and notice an increase in MPG. But what I have recently noticed and I am not sure if this is normal but took my spark plugs out recently and found the hot end to be quite white.....in me old carb days this would have been looked as as the bike running lean petrol/air wise and would not be good. Unfortunately I didn't check the plug color before fitting the X-Pipe. Of course with euro 4 emission standards it maybe right. Love to hear anybody's comments on plug colors before and after fitting the X-Pipe. Nick from Cheshire.
Just a newbie question, did you re use all the seals/ gaskets or is there anything worse you need to purchase other than the x pipe? Also did you use any grease before putting back together? Thanks
At least replace the crush gasket rings in the cylinder heads. They can't be reused at all. The graphite gaskets in the x-pipe connections can be reused, but be careful. They are easily damaged. Use ceramic paste grease on threads.
@@MrImarcus Yes mate not a criticism more of an observation. My recently purchased 2019 Street Twin is fairly loud already so I don't think I will fit one, as you say everyone to their own👍
14:17 - love that!!! That dog knows a punchy parallel twin when he hears it!

Another tip I found the hard way, Put some thick masking take under that main T55 bolt so it doesn't damage the frame paint when its loose.
Thanks for the tips, I'm about to make a start on fitting one onto my Thruxton.
Good luck! You will love the difference I'm sure.
@@MrImarcus Thanks. Giving myself plenty of time ready for when it warms up and the salt is off the roads!
Thanks for the tips! Starting up my swap now

Sorry, just seen this. All original seals mate. Greased nuts and exposed metal but no exhaust paste.

Thank you
Install the clamps on the x-pipe BEFORE installing it in the bike :-)
Doggy doesn’t like the X pipes 😂
Moral to this story???don't bother fitting one 🤣😃🤣
Indeed sir, but each to their own Jim. Not an easy job but I would fit one again. In my opinion the benefits outweigh the hassle...
