A bag is a bag. They are rough and tough, but after a while, if you have a trailer?, you'll want a ATA case all day long. I used Gibraltar bags for many years. Loved them, but it's a bag. Cost wise, they are the bomb.
The problem though, is that all the separat pieces is rubbing against eachother in these bags. My rack clamps are pretty affected by being packed in one bag. The answer is getting a rack bag with individual compartments.
I love a lot of Gibraltar gear. My Gibraltar throne, bass riser ,cymbal stands are great. If you are a serious player- SKB hardcase. Sorry to be honest. This bag may last you 5 years if you're careful and lucky. I would bet you hihat rod rips thru the fabric. I have experienced that with cordura or heavy fabric bags before and junked them in less than 2 years. SKB guaranteed for life or repaired or replacement. My SKB is roughly 10 years old and it is solid still- like the day I bought it. It's a once in a lifetime purchase. The best thing Gibraltar could do is use SKB hard case as a best practice for designing a hardware case and maybe take it to next level by using a durable liner which the SKB lacks. I've been meaning to line mine with high density foam or durable fabric but just haven't got around to it. Another improvement could be something to keep stands from bashing against each other. I personally just expect to let my hardware take some abrasions. Drummers work hard for their paychecks. That's why I'm sharing this. Not dogging on Gibraltar. Think of it as constructive criticism so you will make the best on the market and have drummers flock to you for their cases.
These bags are AWESOME but I WISH the bags was a little wider so that I don't have to remove the T-Leg assemblies every time I pack up but that only adds a couple minutes to setup and tear down. I've used 2 of these for quite a while now, the GHBM and the GRB. So far, no issues with the zipper, handles or fabric. 3 issues are 1) the parts rub together 2) there is no place for small items like drum keys, hihat clutches, etc. and 3) The space in the hard plastic rails causes a slight "stop" on stairs. Fixed the first problem with a few moving blankets (wrapped around everything) that I purchased for $4 each. My 3 sided rack, stealth snare rack go in the GRB. Booms and other rack accessories go in the GHBM. I also put the top of my Hihat rod in a 1/2 inch pvc pipe, capped on both ends so it doesn't get bent. Everything fits, including the blankets, with space to spare. Small items go in my stick bag, which also goes in the GHMB. I guess a travel golf bag would work but they don't have the Gibraltar Logo!
have you tried keeping the hi hat rod in the tube from the hi hat stand? I've been doing that for 15 years with no issues. Only problem is some hi hat stands dont have a removable down tube so ymmv. (i use an 80's heavy duty tama)
Just got one of these for my rack and so far loving it but i really think it would be improved with the addition of pockets on the outside to hold the smaller items that need to be taken to gigs (drum keys, etc...) this would save taking another backpack, and as we all know the less bags the better! ;)
When I saw him putting himself into the bag, I knew this video was right-worthy of a like.
1:43 Glad there was no commentary over this shot. Perfect.

I'll need a new bag for my rack! These ones are perfect!

Hi can you please do a tutorial on how to build a classic drum cage using Gibraltar parts I miss them cages

MBUKMAN By "one of these" I mean the GHLTB
Hey is there a place to buy all your hardware I go to the site and it doesnt show prices
Just buy a golf bag or hardcase with wheels.
Need a convertible case with strap to keep shit still
Even I tried to fit myself into a hardware bag
4 inches makes a lot of difference :P
Kai Ivo lmfao
Why pull the booms out?
Well if you're like me and want to keep the angle position for the boom arm, taking the arm off instead of collapsing the stand makes setup easier.
Honda Civic? Bass drum goes in front seat.
The DJ elevate has 68 inch bars... you guys don't make anything for that-!
The design of this bag is very bad. Upper zippy part is so narrow. Putting stands inside the bag needs so much effort.
