I had this on my last set before I sold it when I had to move from the east coast to west coast. Almost same components as in the video. 7pc shells, double bass, no leg snare and hihat, ultra adjust cymbal arms, 3 bar rack, legless floor toms. By far the best set up I have ever had or tried. When I finally commit to another set of shells Im going right back to the same hardware set up.
I look up at 0:52, The lowest Tom should be at beside my snare drum far away with the hi hat. The splash cymbal are in the middle between high and Mid toms (2 of them) and the china cymbal should be in the right side in front of a Low Tom and a ride cymbal. I want my kit upgrade into this that is fit for me.
Option G is what I want for my drum set up. I have a 6-piece Pearl Vision series drum kit (3 up, 2 down, Kick and Snare). And that cymbal configuration almost the same set up as mine. I still have front rack for rack toms and cymbals. I just need to add the side curved racks for cymbals and others. I still like the rack that I have. Thanks Gibraltar.
koolBOY8323 1. You can use the GUASB, which is the Ultra Adjust Snare Basket, mounted to the horizontal bar with a Super Multi Clamp (SC-GCSMC). You may have to adjust the height of the horizontal to get the height correct for your snare. You should use a hinged memory lock (SC-GCHML) to secure the multi clamp into place. 2. Its difficult for me to advise on this without seeing your set up.
What rack Tom clamps/holders do you use? I think my sweetwater sales guy sent me the wrong ones. They have the boom arm for the Tom but there’s no way to install that mount on the pole of the Gibraltar rack. Do you have any videos regarding this? The clamp I have is DWSM991.
Personally I'm curious about if a rack system like this could accommodate 8", 10", 12", 13" rack toms in addition to 10", 12", 14", 16", 18", 20", 22", 24" Octobans, 6", 8", 10" roto toms, and 8" & 10" concert toms. Obviously I'd love to get rid of tripods. Right now I have the 4 short Octobans to the left of my hi hats, while the 4 long Octobans are across the front of the kit just above the rack toms. The roto toms and small concert toms are on the right above my floor toms. Seems like it would be difficult to put all this on this rack, but if it worked it would be pretty awesome.
I am looking to add a similar set up and am thinking about a rack. Since your comment was 2 months ago, do you mind if I ask if you added the rack? If you did, how do you like it? One other question. Are your Octobabs over your high hat and if so, did you cut down the rod that comes up between the two hats? I’m having an issue positioning 2 Cannon toms near my hi hats. Thanks in advance for any input you can offer!!!
@@just82much51 Yes, I bought the Gibraltar GCS-450C but unfortunately it is on backorder and I haven't received it yet. As far as the other; yes I cut the stem rod on my hi hat stand down with a hacksaw. I almost cut too much off LOL!
This was the video in this series i was waiting for. It answered a lot of my questions and ideas about my kit, but also left a few hanging wide open. 1. how would you suggest adding a 14" snare on the left side of the rack, just below the hi-hat? 2. there are also a 19" china, 8", and 10" splashes above the hats, and a 10" popcorn snare just below them that have to share that bit of the rack. how would you suggest mounting all of it? Thanks in advance!
Hey there! Can you tell me what the correct attachment for cymbals that goes at the top of the vertical posts? Everything I've seen is too small! Cheers! Keep up the extremely helpful work!
Hi James, the SC-RBA is used to mount a cymbal arm inside a vertical bar. Another version is the SC-RMAA. This is a larger attachment that has three different size nylon bushings; 3/4", 7/8", and 1".
Just a thought off any relating topic ...but I wonder whatever happened to the top two custom rack builders for the pros back in the 1980's and 90's Tom Falicon and Greg Voelker...they just seem to have disappeared though their custom double tiered massive drum cages still show up once in a blue moon...interesting
I used to have 12,13,14 across a 46" curved rack bar. All fits very well and very sturdy. Only downside is the height due to the extra depth of the drums, especially with power toms. Managed to find a 10" for my kit so now have 10,12,13 across the top with the 14 moved to the side with the 16 " floor. Makes a big difference as have managed to move the bar down about 2.6 inches. 8 inch toms seem too small to me.
Renats Gabalins thanks for the input. We thought about doing that a few years ago. The problem is, when you start working with curved bars and adjustable angle clamps, there are way too many variables to control. Still shots have to be taken of every piece at every possible angle it could be adjusted to and positioned on the curve bar. Angles change every time you move the clamp on the bar. 1/8th of a turn can change your set up and how your rack fits together drastically. We decided to go the video route
EricDrummer33 thanks for your question. Our racks will accommodate any cymbal stand. You can mount using multi clamps to the cross bar, or mount inside the legs using the SC-RMAA tube end clamps as long as the diameter of the cymbal tube is one of the following diameters: 3/4”, 7/8”, or 1”
I have an 8", 10", 13", 14", 16"& 18" toms, two snares, cowbell, tambourine, and a timbale. 7 cymbals and a second pair of hats. I think I could definitely benefit from a rack as such. Not sure which model would work for me and my budget is around $600. I know Gibraltar makes some really neat racks, but I'm also looking in the pearl icon curved rack as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated. That's just for my home set up. For a regular gig I'll stick to my small 4 of set up since I don't have the vehicle space to haul this around.
Fil Solano the obvious difference between the Pearl and Gibraltar racks is that Pearl use square shaped horizontal bars whereas Gibraltar use tubular bars. Also, my OCD would stop me buying a Pearl rack if I didn’t use Pearl drums lol, whereas Gibraltar goes with everything. In general I would say Gibraltar has way more options for different bits and pieces and how you want to design your rack. Just sit down at your kit and imagine what you would like to do in a perfect world, and Gibraltar are more likely to have a solution for your problem. Also, it’s easier to build a setup section by section with Gibraltar because their stuff is so adaptable, including even working Gibraltar parts into your current setup of stands or whatever. That’s just my two cents though; at the end of the day they’re your hard saved dollars!
Definitely plan a bigger budget. What sneaks up on you are all the clamps, in Canada they were $50 each last time I bought them but you need so many it adds up quick. $600 will get you started with some bars but isnt nearly what you need for an ideal setup. Plan $1500 or more to be happy with it.
Need to see an option for 1 up 2 down BUT the 2 down are mounted toms 12” & 14”, not floor toms with legs. It’s also a Pearl kit so the tom holders will be different.
People give me so much crap for my using my rack two. I mostly just use it to lead me to the floor tom on a roll. But other than that, i use because: one, i like the way it looks there, and two i can do a ton of other different fills on my set. I tried playing with the rack 2, but i alway accidentally hit the ride and its really annoying
S McGrath thanks for the comment. We are making some improvements to the website to make it easier to locate a dealer to purchase from. However, the large accounts we work with are Sweetwater, MF, drum center of Portsmouth, Amazon....

Just set up the front curved rack. It saved me space, and I added another Tom and cymbal in even less space. Solid, solid system.

what would recommend If I wanted to add a bar over the bass drum to connect to a side rack and a stealth rack?
Big fan of this series!
I was told that a round drum rack could make the clamps slide. Is this true? Or will everything hold securely in your opinion?
Thank you!...
