- Removing and cleaning up the sticky residue left behind from peel and stick tiles is miserable...until now. Quick way to get the job done. If needed repeat a bit in a spot. Have fun! (VERY SORRY for all of the annoying noises as I am filming this....I didn't realize that my movements were causing such a sound....this is my first attempt at recording and I had to share this so please look past that part of the video.) Thanks for watching...give thumbs up if you like!
I had a peel and stick tile in my kitchen break and I pulled it off impulsively, only to find the dreaded adhesive underneath, boy was it hard to peel that tile off! That was months ago. It has been an ugly sticky square of exposed hardwood in my kitchen, and I didn’t know what to do! I thought I’d never get that adhesive off. Then I watched this video and immediately got out the WD40 and flour. It worked!! Thank you for this effective and cheap tip! Thank you for recording it for all to see and hear! I now have the confidence to pull up the rest of those tiles in my kitchen! (It will take forever to pull them up, you are right about that being the most laborious and dreadful part)
You just helped me two years later with our bathroom project! Don’t worry about the filming. 😅 You got the information out there just fine. Thanks!! ❤
Thank you for your kind words. I am happy it has helped you 😊
OMG!! Thank you for this video! No other video should be uploaded and give advise on how to remove stick and peel residue. YOURS IS THE ANSWER! I Had used up all my elbow grease trying to scrub off the residue with adhesive remover and chemical wash-wasting my money and time!! This was advised by a contractor! And then I gave up after spending 30mins scrubbing and scraping off my tiles. So THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I sprayed WD40 and it worked immediately!! I’m ecstatic!
This might have the worst camera operation in a video ever, BUT, it might be the best tip to remove old adhesive residue EVER! Thank you!❤
I know the video quality wasn’t Hollywood but I’m glad you liked the results. Thank you for your kind words. Hope your projects go well

You are very welcome and thank you for the kind words 🦋. I am happy it helped you.
I have never commented on a UA-cam video. This literally saved my life when I was moving out of my rental apartment. Tried goo gone, acetone, nothing worked. I felt compelled to let you know that I owe you my security deposit. THANK YOU!!!!
I am so happy that it worked for you! Thank you for letting me know that it helped you 😊
After watching numerous videos, I’ve been dreading doing this myself…but now after watching your video and showing truly perfect results…I feel confident to do this now, just brilliant …..Thankyou so much !
Thank you so much for your kind words. Good luck with your project!
8 days ago I told you how wonderful your video was for me to see. Today I am here to tell you that your method is not only wonderful IT IS FANTASTIC. I tried it our today after removing 4 of the. Self stick planks. Got the WD40 with the blast spray top to cover a wider area. Sprayed the area and after 5-6 minutes sprinkled with flour and used my long handle floor scraper and all the WD40 was absorbed and the residue removed with ease for me to simply sweep up. I can’t thank you enough. I was really fretting about the necessity to remove this flooring. Your method makes it a piece of cake. Looking forward to remover the remainder of the flow now that I know how easy and quick it it. You’re the best for sharing this process.
Thank you so much for letting me know how it worked out for you 😊. It’s almost like having fun!
Ive been putting off re-flooring my kitchen for years now and i hate it. The thought of sticky mess whilst trying to install a new floor filled me with dread.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope your project goes well for you. Good luck!
Wow that is amazing ! Who knew WD40 works to remove tile glue? And the cooking flour hack just blew me away no sticky glue rags or mess. Thank you greatly appreciated

Oh my gosh!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! After spending so much money on 3M adhesive remover and acetone, which didn’t make a dent, this had all the stuck adhesive gone off my floors in 2 1/2 hours! I have told everyone about this video! You are a genius!
You are so welcome. Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you found this solution.

Thank you for letting me know that this helped you. I wish would have known about this a few times over the years 😅
I have tried everything to get this stubborn adhesive residue off the ceramic tile floor underneath. This was the only thing that worked! I tried goo gone, goof off, heat gun, hand sanitizer even. The video was not the best quality, but the solution is ideal! Thanks for this, I will def pass along.
Thank you for the thumbs up! I am happy that this video helped you. Again I apologize for the 'quality' I will know better if I ever make another video. God Bless
Thank you so very much for this video. I am about to redo a self stick floor I put in 3 years ago and was fretting about how to remove the residue so I can put in the new floor. This WD-40 and flour idea is genius. Heading out now to get both. Invaluable video. Thanks again.
You are so welcome! Good luck on your project 😊
AMAZING! I can't thank you enough! Running to the store for the supplies now. I was in tears when I pulled up my tiles yesterday and nothing I tried removed the residue😢
You are so welcome. It’s a miserable job when everything is sticky and nothing works. It’s actually kind of fun doing it in small areas at a time. Good luck!
This video is exactly what I was looking for, Thank you So much. I have two layers of tiles that I am going to pull back to the original flooring, but I just didn't have any idea on how to get rid of the adhesive. Thanks again 🙏.

Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate how to remove floor adhesive. I will be starting a project in my kitchen soon and wanted to be prepared for the cleanup. Your video demonstrating this process is spot on. Thanks again!!!!

Thanks for sharing....never thought of using that technique before.
You are very welcome. It works well. Good luck with your project 😊
I wonder if this will work on the adhesive left after old carpet is taken up off of bricks?
Please reply if anyone knows.
Thank you for the instructions. We wanted to keep our floor not redo it the sticky vinyl adhesive is a nightmare
You are so welcome. Good luck 👍
There is an oil absorbent you can by at Menards, Lowes or HD. Product is designed to do this kind of job and definitely is cheaper than flour.
Ok mr robot. A product cheaper than flour? 🤔
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This works perfectly!
You are so welcome!!! 😁
I’m going to try this , thanks for sharing
Remember to do little areas at a time. Good luck! 👍
I wonder if this would work on plywood subfloor? Also wondering if it would mess up the mortar mix for my new porcelain tiles? We're removing old porcelain to replace with new in front of a fireplace...and removing peel and stick linoleum to replace with carpet tiles.
I’m by no means an expert on sub flooring but I wouldn’t be afraid to try it. I would think I the flour would absorb all the oil. I personally would try it. At least in a small area to test if I had concerns. Please let me know if you do it and how it worked. Good luck with your project 😊
As far as your mortar goes I would research wd-40 for uses and specifically if it’s safe for that particular thing 😊
which kind of wd40 should one use?
Are you just using your gloved hand or are you using something ?
Hello. Yes I have a glove on but it actually is to protect my nails.
Just spray the w-d and swirl it in to melt the adhesive then apply the flour to finish the cleanup.
Good luck. Gloves are up to you. :)
Great job Sis
So sorry I didn’t respond to you for your kind words. Thank you so for your comments!
I really have no idea. If the adhesive is “sticky” it might. If it’s dried and hard I haven’t a clue. Let us know if you try it. Good luck 😊
Will it work on adhesive from peel and stick tiles from a wood floor? I just have a small landing to do.
Yes it does.
This is awesome! I have to do this on my floor
I’m happy you like this info. Good luck with your project 😊
I have a question though I am going to have to take up a engineered hardwood floor ( sadly my refrigerator leaked and ruined a section and that color is discontinued 😢). My question is will using wd40 on a subfloor work or would it absorb too much and affect it so my next flooring would not adhere afterwards? Just a thought.
I honestly can’t answer that for sure. I would think the flour should absorb it up if left on long enough out of the wood but I really don’t know. Let me know if you try it and if it worked for you.
Good luck on your project 😊
Hi will this method work on my hardwood floor? Without ruing it
I can’t say for positive but if it’s done in small areas at a time I think it would be okay. Good luck on your project 😊
Thank you so much. It really worked . God bless you.
You are very welcome. I am happy that it helped you with your project 😊
WD-40 and flour?!? Dang! You just saves me hours and days, and maybe even over $1000 of having someone else do it!
I know. Amazing how it works! Good luck!
Aerosol brake cleaner works.
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!
Thank you very much!
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching 😀
Is it the WD-40 that makes the floor slippery?
Yes 😊
I have a can of 'generic' WD40 from Dollar Tree...I'm going to try it. Would be much cheaper
I hope it works for you. I have no idea about a generic W-40 or how it might work. Let us know. Good luck 😊
This!
👍thanks !
