OMG I just spent 6 hours on laundry room scraping away at old vinyl glue....I was the exact example you showed in beginning of how scraping alone just fails....I will be buying this product give this man a medal and some money!!!
I just sent the manufacturer a message regarding how to determine if this product would work on specific adhesives and how to identify them. Almost 50% of buyers on Amazon complained about product. I can only assume they didn't use it properly or it does not work on certain adhesives.
The stuff works! Just bought a jug at Home Depot for $35.00. I bought the 747 plus formula to remove adhesive residue from sticky tiles. Tried everything and nothing worked as well as this stuff. Applied it and left it on for an hour, then removed it with a putty knife no problem. Slight odor but nothing bad at all, leaves a slightly greasy residue but cleans up with dish soap and water. Eco-friendly and can be cut with water to get more out of it.
Thanks for the great video. This product is the real deal. We rented an edco floor grinder that didn't work. Over the weekend, we tried some stuff from home depot that just turned it into tacky peanut butter. At my wits end, I watched this video again and then started making phone calls to track this down. We got a 5 gallon bucket from a local retailer. We let it set up for 2.5 hours and we were able to scrape through. Thanks again for the recommendation and great video, saved me today
Wow! You DEFINITELY saved me A LOT of elbow grease. I'm redoing a bathroom and when I took up the tile I realized there was 12yo linoleum on the floor. This will make my job MUCH easier. Thanks!
Thank you for the very helpful video. I appreciate how you asked common questions and clearly answered them. I also like how you kept the camera still while talking, no fancy effects, and had a clip on microphone. A lot of DIYers could learn a few things from you!
I sprayed full strength Amonia on the length of the tape on the floor....scarped up the biggest part of it and put a little Wesson's oil on a paper towel and cleaned up the residue. WORKED!
Asbestos in flooring and flooring adhesives was discontinued in the early '60's, earlier in some parts. It's the adhesive with the crystalline additives that are dangerous. They used them from the '80's well into the '90's. Still, your point is valid: If you don't know who made the glue and what it is, it's safest to assume it is asbestos or something else that is dangerous.
Thank you for your video! I have called my local distributor for a 5 gallon pail. I have a basement in Florida (yes I know!) and the homeowners covered the concrete with old low pile carpet. I have cut that up and out. Now I need to address the residual glue to give me a clean surface. Great job highlighting what appears to be my solution!
@@jfausset It did work and was not a stinky mess. I should have used a sander in addition to make the floor smooth; the scraper really only does so much. But the area is used for a gym so perfection was not the goal.
Thank you so much, this is just what I needed. I'm making a mother-in-law suit out of a tiny add on hair salon that was built on to the fixer upper we recently bought. The floor suffered some water damage and in fixing it discovered the floor is at least 4 layers of vinyl tile over a couple decades years. The top vinyl tile that was under the carpet was covered in some kind of adhesive. I have tried everything. I really did not want to pull up four layers of vinyl to lay the new flooring. I really can't thank you enough. Excellent video, excellent!!!
Great video! I had a similar situation, except I had historic porcelain mosaic tiles buried under vinyl tile mastic and carpet adhesive. I bought a condo in what was previously a pre-war office building completed in 1910. At some point in its history, square linoleum tiles were glued over the porcelain tiles. When the building was converted to residential in the 80s, the developer simply pulled up the old vinyl floors and glued carpeting over everything. I was concerned because I had read that some of the vinyl tile mastic used in the mid-century contained asbestos. I found a product called Soy Gel which is a paint stripper made from soy beans. It is a thick gel substance that melted the mastic away and encapsulated the gunk. It worked amazingly well and I was able scrape everything up up and clean the floors with dish soap and warm water.
Hapaboy its the tile that has the asbestos for sure! Not sure about the adhesive! I would bet if not that some of the asbestos from the tile would definitely be embedded in the glue! Ive removed miles of that stuff and no probs so far at 65 yrs old! I always wear dust masks so that had to help some!
We just had a little basement flood and had to tear up the carpet, which revealed a solid coating of glue across the entire basement floor. Gonna give this a try to get rid of it. Thank you for the spectacular and thorough review!
I’m not sure what type of adhesive was on your floors, but I removed some carpet from my suite and there was adhesive on it. So I watched this video and went to purchase the product and it did NOT WORK for me AT ALL! It actually made the adhesive stickier! I followed the instructions and was very upset!
I hurt my back each time I tried to scrape off the carpet glue on our downstairs bedroom floor. It's a concrete floor, just like this one, but not as big and just around the edges and joins. Now I'm going to have a try - the scraper on a pole is a great idea to prevent back injury, too! Many thanks
Good job on the video. Not many people on YT can get directly to what a viewer needs to see. Life too short for listening to people ramble on and on and on.
worked fairly well, a good rental store will have a floor polisher or floor sander with carbide cutters which can remove the glue. a good flooring sub will use these to remove glue before installing new carpet. they use way less glue on the clean floors.
Awesome video! Right to the point, excellently filmed/edited, and super informative. Now I can get that gross, impossible glue off my concrete basement floor! I wish ALL how-to videos on UA-cam were as awesome as this one!!
Literally taking a break doing it by hand with a small scrapper. Thought to myself “am I insane!? There must be a better way” the only difference is I still have a tile barrier that I guess that the tiles went on top of so I’m hoping it can all penetrate and scrape off as easy as you had it! DONE FOR THE DAY EITHER WAY! Phew!
I had the same problem ...needed a nice clean concrete floor before putting install of vinyl floating floor. Many of the glues or adhesives are simply water-soluble. I took hot water and a heavy mop and the glue melted so easily. I was amazed because I had tried to sand, scrape, and chisel that glue off and it was wearing me out. So I tried hot water and an industrial mop. It's non-toxic and in many cases the glue will completely dissolve. Best part is ...it's not costing you a dime and it mops up rather easy saving huge labor cost. Give that a try first.
I was going to post the same thing. I spent a weekend grinding adhesive off to get it ready to apply epoxy. This would have been MUCH better! thanks for the info and the review!
AWESOME!!!! that is the way to have fun removing glue...and guess why i am watching this video lolol i am tired of scrapping and going bunkers because the glue does not remove all the way...thank you for sharing knowledge...fast and easy...
Very cool! Wish I would have known about this a year ago. My ex’s dad is highly allergic to any chemicals, enough so that fumes will make him sick. I basically scraped an entire basement floor using nothing but hot water. This would have been a lifesaver!
ADDING TO CART IMMEDIATELY! Update: This worked very well in some areas due to my floor still having sticky spots of glue. The floors are better and should be good for grinding which I may not do. Not sure yet.
Thank you! Gonna try this stuff for my bathroom floor. Paint thinner worked to pull up the flooring but it won’t remove the glue. And it’s saturated my house with its stench.
I watched this video and purchased this product because I was convinced it would work as advertised. The product is very eco-friendly. I didn't cough once. It's pretty much odorless as well. The primary questions are did it work and would I purchase this product again? I would give it 3 stars because it partially worked. I applied 3 coats of this product on my warehouse floors and I applied a lot of elbow grease but some glue remained. Would I purchase this product again? No. I would've preferred to purchase a product more expensive and capable of removing the glue entirely. That's my 2 cent.
Save your money. You can use concentrated floor wax stripper and a little water or if you are really cheap you can use 25% ammonia, 70% water and 5 % dawn dish soap. Note- People will complain about the ammonia smell. Also note- If you cover the floor with 4 mil poly sheeting after you lay the chemical down , you can leave it overnight and the next day it will scape up like butter and wont evaporate. If the glue has crystalized, you may be better off just renting a scarifying machine with carbide tip scrapper blades. You can rent these at home depot or Sun Belt.
I'm not sure what I'm doing differently but because of this video I bought 10 jugs of this. I poured one jug onto a 10x10 area and agitated it with a push broom. Waited 90 minutes and only a thin top layer barely scraped off. Tried it again over the same area and nothing.

Great job! You just got me to subscribe! Just curious about a couple of things. One:How much does a container of that product cost? You must've had to have bought quite a bit of it. Two: Not that it's important, but, judging from what I saw in the background, it looks like you were working in a Church. Anyway-Again, great job! After your applications in different areas, and even with different timings, you were still able to get the gunk off of the floor with what appeared to be comparative ease. Keep up the great work!
So, after one does this, is there a way to make the concrete color look more uniform? Is the concrete smooth? Is there any other step between this one, and putting a sealant on concrete? Thank you so much for this video!
what did you find out? did you resurface with something like Thinset? Add any color or pattern? I'm doing a bathroom as a "test" prior to committing to uncovering the slab under our house flooring.
OMG I just spent 6 hours on laundry room scraping away at old vinyl glue....I was the exact example you showed in beginning of how scraping alone just fails....I will be buying this product give this man a medal and some money!!!

Thank you Stone Cold Steve Austin for the video!

Brahahahaha 😂😂😂
😆😆👍
Why would you ask?
Cause Stone Cold Said So!!
Watching that glue come up is so satisfying.
Come do my floor lol
i’m not going to explain the whole story… but this video changed my life. gave me inspiration to do stuff i’ve put off for a long time. thank you 🙏

Most older carpet and vinyl floor adhesives contain asbestos. Wet removal, the way you're doing, is the safest way to go.
Thanks for watching M. I don't know if this adhesive is ACM but the product worked great.

Great video, I have glue under old thick linoleum. You answered my question about odor too. Just my wife. Thanks again
Thank you for your demonstration. I'm so encouraged to be successful!
Been on UA-cam since they were born. I've only given a thumbs up to a handful of videos that are really informative. You got my thumbs up!
I was digging the scraper action cam angle!
LOL, me too
Save your money. Great tip video . Well done !
It will help us on our up coming floor upgrade .
Thank you .

I'm not sure what I'm doing differently but because of this video I bought 10 jugs of this. I poured one jug onto a 10x10 area and agitated it with a push broom. Waited 90 minutes and only a thin top layer barely scraped off. Tried it again over the same area and nothing.
We're having the same issue with a similar product from Kean-Strip. I'm thinking there are a LOT of difference types of adhesives and these things only work on certain ones. Sure with it was easy to tell which product to use on which specific adhesive.
Golly, that stuff was impressive! Makes me wish I had a concrete floor with glue on it.... well I don't really wish I had a concrete floor with glue on it, but mental note made about this product if I ever need to remove this kind of glue. Thanks for sharing!
Hahaha. Yeah, be careful what you wish for David. :-). It really did work like a champ.
Thank you soo much for making this video. My boyfriend and I are about to start redoing our house and I know I'm going to have to remove some old vinyl. I'm definitely going to have to check this out for the glue left behind.
Lol u got a concrete house???
You just saved me a ton of money 💰 Thank you for such a straight to the point video. 👏👏👏🥰🥰
Great video. Very informative. Good review of this product and I'm likely to purchase. The manufacturer should be paying you for this video.
Great video. Examples were to the point. I have a floor where the vinyl was taken up, but most of the rubber backing was left. I wonder if this product would work in that case.
Hey thanks Steve… My Neighbor has a job to do at his house and this will help speed up that process. To think he was considering using a belt sander… Lol that would not have been a wise choice of time usage😀
I'm about to scrape 2600 myself . . thanks. . . this looks like a good product
Thank you so much. It really made the task easy. Such good clear instructions.
WOW! You just got a new Subscriber! From the GREAT product to the Route 66 Hat! Great in my book!
Thanks for the demo. I have some 20 year old carpet glue I need to get off. Have a sander down there now. Don't want to do it. Tried Citrus, goo gone, and they didn't do well. Will give this a try!
Did it work for you?
Scraping that looks so satisfying.
I am preparing to remove old vinyl tiles in a double wide. The subfloor is not concrete. Can you use this product still?
Wow, this is going to save me a lot of extra time and effort. Thank you for this video!
Recent floor project I had the same problem. It was a concrete floor with adhesive that was rock hard from a wood laminate flooring. I tried a adhesive remover from Lowe's which did nothing. What I used was a plunge cut electric saw with a straight blade. It cut thru the adhesive quickly and effortless. Leveled the floor so I could install vinyl planks. The saw I used was from Harbor Freight not expensive.
The right amount of this product certainly goes a long way, doesn't it?
2 questions. I've seen other videos where the material scraped was sloppy wet. They covered with plastic. Yours looked much dryer. I have a large office space with custom stained wood base to protect on the wall. Did you cover with plastic? Any idea about if the 626 is safe near stained wood?
Excellent video!!. You got straight to the points & just gave us the facts.
All you needed was a scrape away head for a buffing machine. It has diamond carbide blades on it. It’s scraped that right up down to Bare concrete.
Cool. Illput 2 coats of floor patch on that and maintain it with an 18" circular floor sander in half the time.
Great video, this was the best solution I found!
Is this product only for use on concrete flooring? Looking to make it easier to remove residue from years past of multiple layers of kitchen flooring in a reno home? Wow, you lucked out finding this for your application:)
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! I have around 4k sqft to do, then want to stain. Do you think it will come up enough to stain it and look good?
This video is great! Now to try it out for myself. Wish me luck!
Wow!!! I’m gonna go with your advice! Excellent video, thank you 💖
Wow! Thanks for posting this Vid. I have 2100SF to knock out and was kind of scared how to tackle.
Where can I buy a floor scraper like yours?
I bought this product and the scraper. I’m heading over to my flipper house tomorrow to try it out. I’ll try to record some if I can. I’ll post here with my results
Did it work
@@JamieProcarione we will never know
where did you get the scraper
I used this stuff before. It didn't come up as easy for me as it did for him but I was using it to pull glue down carpet but also used to paint brush after to slap it all over the remaining glue. It did come up for the most part but it was not easy
Theres also a product called citrustrip thats citrus based! Also has no smell except for a miid orange smell! It works great for wood varnishes too!
straight to the point. loved this video.
What scraper are you using? Thanks...
Simple and straight to the point I like it.
Where can I get a scraper like the one on Video???

Where’d you get that scraper
Boiling hot water softens it up pretty good. Put on with a mop
Thanks for sharing this video I think I'm going to try the product

Great information and good video in regards to demonstration - thx
Where can I get the remover

So, after one does this, is there a way to make the concrete color look more uniform? Is the concrete smooth? Is there any other step between this one, and putting a sealant on concrete? Thank you so much for this video!
what did you find out? did you resurface with something like Thinset? Add any color or pattern? I'm doing a bathroom as a "test" prior to committing to uncovering the slab under our house flooring.
