If the thumbnail title is intended as a pun (in which quotation marks can be used to avoid misunderstanding), Origen many be flawed in some of his conclusions, but nonetheless he was grounding his works from divine revelations; the woke "scholars" distort truths into anti-truths without any scholarly elegance nor depth of philosophy.

Whilst they're waking up to that, they're not addressing the real problems in the black community. The whole thing is a smoke screen because it requires big investment.
I went to college, 40 years ago, and am not used to this vocabulary on a daily basis anymore. I could have used some less esoteric more common language.

Awake Not Woke
For this discussion, it would be useful for them to first define what they understand "woke" to mean. I think many have different definitions. For many (though certainly not all), being "woke" is simply a state of being sensitive to issues of social injustice.

I think "woke" has nothing to do with true justice. God is just, there is so much mention of this in the Bible so he hates unbalanced scales so to speak. Woke is people pretending their just and right, it's an act designed to gain the approval of others. What their lips say and what they really think in their hearts are two entirely different things. They'll claim to value life and put the Ukrainian flag as their profile picture on social media yet at the same time they will support abortion (the murder of children). There's a dichotomy within them, they don't stand for true justice they only look to serve and exalt themselves.
Using the term "social justice" is much like using the word "love." Our culture has such a distorted notion of both concepts such that many think they are being "just" or "loving" but are widely missing the mark. As long as both concepts are reduced to warm and cuddly feelings, we probably are serving neither justice nor love.
@@johnsposato5632 That's fair enough. I would argue that love and justice are neither cuddly nor feelings. Love is an act of the will (and is usually hard). Justice is associated with fairness (also hard to achieve). So working toward social justice is an attempt to normalize justice (fairness) in our society - and our social interactions. In that sense, loving our neighbor and working toward social justice is our attempt to imitate God - who is all loving and all just.
In this sense, being "woke" is actually a good thing. Being sensitized to social injustice (and there's plenty of it out there), is a critical first step to ending said injustice.

You're correct with the exception of Protestant thinkers. Martin Luther who spearheaded the Protestant Reformation heavily criticized the sweJ and even authored a book entitled "The sweJ and Their Lies"

It seems as though this is one of those ironically oblivious works that attempts to dismiss a non-Christian ideology (though an invented boogieman of an ideology) by showing how similar its irrational structure is to the irrational structure of Christianity.

you can talk as much as you like about the waste paper of philosophers, but that does not even remotely touch the root cause for the humans degeneration. after some monkeys left the trees to later on become humans (darwin was a comedian), they quickly realized organizing themselves in groups raises the chance of survival. at first they didn`t really have a clue, because there was no real need for that while living in the trees. they picked an apple here, a few leafs there and no philosophical discussion was needed to make it through the days. little bit mating every now and then, and everything was just fine. but that changed. the groups got bigger, and since they were quite mobile they also made contact with other groups. in order to take care that all can survive, they started distribution of tasks. and that's the moment when all the trouble started. inequality comes into play, on an unnatural scale. also rivalry because the needed resources were scarce. for some strange reason they did not invent democracy at that stage, but leadership, through a small group of people. for humans, obviously, a natural thing or process. at the very beginning that were the physically stronger ones, but that changed and the more clever ones took over, not the smart ones. not always as leaders, but at least as influencers. they developed strategies, tactics, methods and means to project power to get their way. these leaders and their advisors were basically not the strongest, lazy, rarely had talents or skills. they were just clever, without scruples, and had a very strong motivation. this motivation is the root cause of all evil, and it`s called greed. life is not even close to be complicated as they describe it in all these monumental books like the manifesto of marx and many other thick books, where they use a lot of words to describe their fantasies. the wording they use is very much different from what average people do, so they must be experts, ha ha ha. perception is a tricky thing. human kind isn`t that multilayered or complex. they wish or are dreaming of being the crown of the creation, but the humans discovered the lie as an effective means to satisfy their greed. they lie not only to others, but also to themselves, which leads to denying reality and nature. and all that solely because some, or many, just can`t control their greed....

My son today told me that boys are afraid of being straight today because culturally they are seen as backwards. Is this how far things have gone? I find it hypocritical that people who claim to believe in peace and love, are condemning others that have different goals, isn't that exactly what their movement is about? Woke has gone back as far as I know, and I am an advocate for minority right, but nothing is good in extremes. This feel more like resentment and revenge. Catholic here, also a big reader of Hegel. This is an extremely poor understanding of Hegelian dialectics. It’s just another Fichtian mangling of dialectics that it is so water-downed.
It's a bit difficult to take seriously the collection and panoply of German philosophers that are getting trotted out to justify what is wrong with the wokeness of the culture, when none of these are particularly compatible with each other. Nietzsche is notoriously bad at reading his contemporaries, and belongs in his own category of dumpster fire in a way, particularly since he licenses bad on both the ethnonationalist right and the identitarian left. The Frankfurt School was, well, as group of people. Lots of variety in terms of what they claimed, what their interests were, and what they ultimately arrived at, but the worst one can say about them is that they are pessimists. They are not the source of everything bad, and the worst part about that claim is that it functions mostly as an antisemitic dogwhistle (which is ironic given that a good number of them fled to the US because of Nazism). Hegel really shouldn't be brought up at all. On the one hand he is great. On the other, his thought has been used to justify everything bad from Prussian militarism, German nationalism, and other weird liberal or totalitarian impulses. It's perhaps more apt to say that Hegel gets misused more than he gets applied. Marx is perhaps equally judged in this regard. As a Kant scholar, the only thing I was missing in this list was the man I devoted my PhD to, who very often does seem to function as the fountainhead for everything wrong in modern culture with his dangerous innovation of 'transcendental idealism' which is some sort of subjectivism. While transcendental idealism is perhaps an often badly formulated theory (and probably wrong, depending on what you think it means) even by Kant, he was not a mere subjectivist, and the German philosophical heritage is not out to destroy modern culture either.
This had zero to do with woke culture. If it did, you made it so complicated to understand.

I love my Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. However, do you know what is sad? By the very nature of following Catholic doctrine, you subscribe to accepting that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ did not accomplish what God had intended all along. God, without our permission, ushered in the New Covenant (His one-time sacrifice for sins that was enough to bridge the gap between God and us). “God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them” 2 Cor 5:10. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him (puts their faith and trust in Him) shall not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16. We received God’s righteousness (right standing with God); He took on our unrighteousness. What an exchange!!! To follow church authority and tradition (Catholicism) who announces that you have all these requirements to follow to work your way into Heaven (sacraments), and purgatory (so you can bake a little longer before you get in)- simply tells God, “Your son’s death on the Cross was not enough to extend Grace to mankind”. The Vatican Church has absolutely no authority whatsoever. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, the life, no man comes to the Father except through me” John 14:16. Not through the church, not through a priest, not through a confession booth, not through the sacraments, not through Mary, not through prayers to dead “saints”- Eternal Life can only be found through faith and trust in Jesus Christ. That is the New Covenant- a new arrangement with Believers- established by God (on this side of the Cross). We could never do enough good works to get in; God made the ultimate sacrifice, initiating a perfect Grace to ensure we would. “For it is by Grace you have been saved, through Faith- and this not from yourself, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast” Eph 2:8. The corruption of the Catholic Church (do the research), and the massive (and I mean massive) cover up of Priests (who have molested more children than every other Christian denomination combined), and the corruption of so many popes (who are supposed to be the head of the church)- pretty much speaks for the error in Catholic thinking, along with pages and pages of other problems I could write about if there was space. Look it up for yourself- there are documented cases of horrible, bad and corrupt popes- who were sexually active pedophiles, ones who committed sodomy, and much more. They were pure evil. And the pope is identified as infallible by the Catholic church when he speaks from the chair. Insane. Truth? It’s a complete scam. Don’t fall for the Catholic explanation that the Holy Spirit overrides the fallible popes, and renders them infallible (a pathetic lie and an excuse for their deviant behavior). Can you imagine if we used that excuse for all our poor decisions? Absolute nonsense. Popes were also responsible for torturing and murdering hundreds of people because they did not share their beliefs in the early days. Popes were married before, had mistresses, had sex with kids and animals, but the church says the Pope is this great interpreter of Scripture. Never! Insane!! These popes were complete criminals. Talking about wolves in the Catholic Church- it has always been the actual leaders themselves!!! It’s appalling. The pope has usurped the title of that was intended for God; usurped the authority that was intended for Christ. The pope is called the victor (connected to vicarious)- the one who stands in the place of Christ and he has stolen that from the Holy Spirit!! He has set himself in the place of God, up in the place of Christ, and in the place of the Holy Spirit and that is overstepping his bounds! Here is this guy in Italy, more than likely with a homosexual background, dressed up in robes, wearing a crown, and here are intelligent people in America setting him on a pedestal, adoring him like a cult leader (who always just happens to be directed by God Himself), and people all around the world are fallen for this nonsense and blasphemy. The Bible indicates that the Anti-Christ will come out of Europe, and who better to serve that seat as someone who has already deceived millions. Just shocking intelligent people cannot do the research, and realize the lie of Catholicism. The history is all there for your checking. The whole legitimacy of this false church is not Biblical. Finally, The status of priests in the Catholic church is a disaster. One priest was quoted as saying, “Every priest he knows is gay, unless he has been told otherwise”. Other sources have homosexuality in the priesthood at a staggering 75%. The system is broken, and the Catholic Church is not God’s intention. Jesus had a different idea completely, and I will sum it up in 2 words: “Follow me”. Let go of the bondage that is administered and demanded by an “institution”, and rely solely on the freedom and grace that comes by simple faith and trust in “following” Jesus Christ. He will certainly set you free from an institution that holds your eternal life hostage (until you measure up to God’s requirements), because nobody has ever measured up. There is no purgatory; in fact, purgatory was invented by popes selling indulgences (a piece of paper you could buy to have sins forgiven and even your dead relatives sins forgiven). And I thought American Greed on television had some bad stories. Scary theology people!!! Listen, God accomplished on the Cross everything you and me will ever need to IMMEDIATELY be in Heaven- by simple faith and belief. If you have been sitting in Catholic churches all these years, confused, never feeling like you measure up, totally lost in their doctrine (but hung in there because of family tradition)- please consider trusting Christ- and leaving this cultic ideology.

Then theres nothing wrong with 'the woke'. But it doesnt mean black anymore, when people say woke they do not mean black people. What wokeism is, is psuedo oppression narrative, no one is oppressed in the places where wokeism thrives (except maybe a few like Russia?). & the thing is, if the Right were the ones that changed woke from black people to horrible movements then yeah, absolutely shame on them, but if it was the Left?
