Hi Tinne! Thank you for the video!
I also use my basic tools every day and had to smile when you said you hardly ever use your border punch--I wanted one sooo badly and yet I also hardly use it. I think I need to find more projects where I can incorporate it!

Great video, Tinne. It's all too tempting to buy absolutely everything and then not use it lol! I have a small pair of curved scissors that I use all the time for fussy cutting. I also have a pair of long-bladed ones a bit like yours which I use for paper - great for larger fussy cutting or if you need to cut a straight line. My long-bladed sewing scissors are kept with my sewing things and never get used for paper! Another thing I bought recently was a large silicone mat designed for cake icing. It has measurements on it and circles. It is non-slip which can be very handy, but best of all you can use it when you are glueing over the edges of papers. The glue wipes off with a damp cloth. I've saved a load of scrap paper and general stickiness since I got it.
I have a guillotine too, and use this more than my paper trimmer these days. I use a Stanley knife (heavy duty) for cutting on the cutting mat. I've never got on with Exacto knives. I find it hard to apply enough pressure to cut straight.
I inherited my dad's pipe racks and these are on revolving bases, great for storing scissors and tweezers. I also have a round fabric storage "thingy" (love that!) with compartments for different tools. Years ago I bought a Martha Stewart circle cutter and simply couldn't get on with it. It is exactly the same size as the base of my storage thingy and now serves as its revolving base! Serendipity!
I confess to having hundreds of Distress Inks and Distress Oxides. I do a lot of mixed media work. I recently made a revolving storage unit for them with trays produced by Spectrum Noir and it's an absolute dream - I wish I'd made it years ago as it would have spared me all that frustrating rummaging through boxes to find the colour I wanted!
My most recent can't-live-without purchase was my gel plate for gel printing. Absolutely brilliant, and totally addictive!
I could go on but I won't because my studio is FULL of stuff!

For scissors the best I have found are the tonic procut, these are all rounders and the 8/9in shears are amazing fabric scissors (as long as used from new for this and kept as fabric scissors and this applies to the whole range but as a budget they are often available on Wednesday and weekend bundle deals hence keeping just the largest for fabric) the small ones are great for fussy cutting and the medium plus ones will cut grey board with ease. You can cut tape and they clean with a gently wipe of hand sanitiser/alcohol, baby wipes ect. They self sharpen and have a comfy grip. (I have rheumatoid arthritis and other things affecting dexterity.
Bone folders and scoring tools I have many and Several Teflon but coolkatz is phenomenal I use them for everything and they never ever crack the card or leave that burnished shine! The multipurpose and the pencil Teflon tools, if I'd known this oh so much I could have saved!
The big bite - well it does seem big but I've used mine for everything from craft to adjusting belts and shoes for my daughters, the no restrictions on reach of the big bite- definitely glad I went straight for this.
Lastly thank you Tinne, I have only just found you thankfully to Paul Ford a couple of days and have already treated myself to way more than I should have of your stuff but at a glance of your products and videos combined with the faith in have in Paul to only represent the best I look forward to many more. I am sure you will bring great pleasure to me and my daughters x

Hello Tinne!!! Thank you SO MUCH for this vídeo!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate it, helped me a lot. The only thing I need to buy is that long Crop a Dile. Here where I live is very expensive; but I think it is a real inversion for this world of paper crafting.
Another thing I want to say is that the printable files you make are supreme!!! They are very well designed, and the copies I made were gorgeous. I invite all your followers to grab these wonderful printables, I am so glad to have them.
Hope to see more videos from you, Tinne!

Definitely helpful for a new crafter. A Teflon bone folder will not make paper shiny where you fold. I use Cutter Bee reverse tweezers with precision tips for picking up small embellishments, jewels, etc. - that’s a tool I highly recommend. Non-stick scissors are a must for cutting through adhesives. It’s very wise to have the basics in as high a quality as one can afford. Tools that don’t work are frustrating and a waste of money!

Thank you, Tinne, for posting this video. It's so informative ... and you are just so charming! I have all of the basic tools and a few specialty ones, like the Cinch binding tool and the Sizzix Big Shot which, of course, I don't use nearly as often. I also use several different thingys and whatchamacallits! ;) My confession: I am a paper junkie. I have more paper than anyone could possibly use in three lifetimes ... and I keep buying more! I just can't help it ... they're all so beautiful! Oh, well, I guess we all have our vices. I want to say, too, that I just love all your journal kits and very much enjoy your tutorials, as well. Thanks to you...and I do mean "Thank-you", I have 6 or more of the Silhouette spatulas. I use them for everything...especially for poking through the foil on the back of medications that are in the blister packs but that have such tough foil on the back that you can't punch the pill through it. Though it also slips right through taped edges of boxes, and breaking through the back of packaging materials that have a plastic bubble package over the front...well, like scissors, then you have to tear the cardstock on the back away to get to the scissors but only part of it comes away and the scissors are still trapped inside...aaarghhhh! :) I had some other spatulas and metal tools for spreading gesso...duh, can't think of the name of those tools right now. None of them work as well and as tirelessly as that little spatula that I watched you trim tape and pop the release paper. So thank you from the bottom of my heart...for many things that I have learned from you, but especially for showing the value of that little Silhouette spatula :)
One suggestion for those who have not invested in tools yet is to combine your trimmer and scoreboard and get the We Are Memory Keepers Trim and Score board...one tool, folds in half for space saving and is very sturdy. Blades change easily. I just had to replace my old one because it was their original version and you can no longer get replacement blades. The new version from back around 2017 resolved some design issues and is even better than the original. I picked it up with a 40% off coupon from JoAnns so it brought it under $18 for me.

This IS very helpful Tinne! In particular I have wondered wether to get the hand held crop a dile or the standing one. I think the standing one gives more options since it can reach the center of pages of a journal for instance ?... And... since watching your videos I have also started to appreciate the scoring board... altho haven't purchased one yet, there are many different sizes it seems.
