- The Fritz Rabyne Memorial Band
Live at Fremont High School, Mountain View, 1968
Stevie Nicks (vocals)
Lindsey Buckingham (bass, vocals)
Brian Kane (lead guitar)
Bob Aguirre (drums)
Javier Pacheco (keyboards)
19 year old Stevie rocking on the chorus and she's already got her trademark vocal style down too. Imagine if somebody told her she'd still be queen 50 years later too
Or that one day she would be called the queen of Rock and Roll !!
Yes, she's great, but Lindsey's vocals are amazing, too! Actually, this whole band is great & did not get the full credit they deserved !
🖤
O the feralness of Stevie's young voice!
So deep as to be coming from the darkest region of an ancient forest where women sang around a raging fire under an old moon creating magic and drawing her down.
There's that vibrato in Stevie's voice...instantly recognizable.
i wasn't even born yet,but i'm still enjoying Stevie's early music
A real blast from the past . i was just starting high school in 68.
LOL... I was starting 1st grade!
What a gem to hear this. I love Lindsey and Stephanie!!!!
She doesn’t like to be called or known as “Stephanie.” It makes me wonder WHY someone would refer to someone they don’t even know by a name that the person DOESN’T wish to be known as…. Her own family calls her STEVIE. NOBODY, BAR NONE, refer to her as “Stephanie.”
I know that for an absolute fact. Reminds me how ppl want to call Diana Ross, DIANE Ross, although she DOESNT want to be called that. It’s really sad that ppl can even extend the very simplest of respects- particularly whenever it takes more energy, to make a conscious effort to go against their wishes…… everyone off the top of their head knows it’s: Diana, and Stevie……. Almost like: “yeah….. I know Diane/Stephanie - that’s her real name! Yes! I know her SO WELL, that I know her real name! Like 25,000,000.00 don’t know that as well already!
@Jennifer Feather Jennifer, thank goodness what u say doesn’t influence me ONE TINY BIT! Lol lol
Why don’t u waste your time concerning yourself with SOMEONE ELSE’S comment instead of mine b/c I don’t know u. Could careless what u do… what u say…. How long u say it…. What your life circumstances are…. If u are happy…. If u are sad….. if u are educated…. Or if u are stupid….
Although after reading your comment to me I would have to go with the former
@@clemflynn7067 I share your view, but settle down. I think that everybody has an opportunity to speak one's mind even if sb is worng😊
Have A nice Day!😘
@@clemflynn7067 make a big deal outta nothing??? Like she would see this and really care, but you do for some demented reason eh??? Lol
I remember seeing a video here on UA-cam where Mick Fleetwood was on stage somewhere and he referred to her as Stephanie in front of an audience no less.
Going to a costume party. Started researching Stevie although very familiar with Fleetwood Mac and beyond. What a gem to find during research.
I could hear Lindsey singing and his bass was really good back then also
Rock on Lindsey ❤️
Lindsey is playing guitar, I believe. That would be Brian Kane on bass.
@@Jessica_Roth
That was supposed to have said his voice sorry
Yes Lindsey's bass is amazing & Lindsey&Stevie vocals incredible!
@Jessica_Roth no Lindsey played bass at that point w/ Fritz.
This includes quite a collection of Fritz memorabilia. Glad someone had the presence of mind to make the recording. The band really emphasized great harmony vocals. Listen to how accomplished the organist is. Stevie added a lot to the rhythm with very active cowbell playing (yes -- more cowbell!)
Sorry but cowbell, tambourine...do you really require musical talent for that? Don't consider that to be something to give a CD/Album/Tape credit for; but she is singing great
Spot on sir !!
In addition to Lindsey&Stevie's amazing vocals & Lindsey's great, bass, Javier tears up that organ! He's great! The entire band is!
Yes Stevir & Lindsey are both amazing on this, as is the entire band! I love this version better too!
Stevie's voice really stands out, like this better than the original version
I met a guy on the Beatles Capitol Forum while it was still active who said that his band turned Lindsay down when he auditioned because he said he and Stevie were a package deal. I didn't believe the guy until I read something similar Lindsay said in an interview.
Wow tight really rocking !! 19 really talented !!!!
I wonder what a 20-year old Stevie Nicks thought of dashing Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Sunday, April 5, 1970? The Moodies were debuting their new anthemic single "Question" at this time. What a time for music........
What a treasure! Thanks for sharing, you can't put a price on this stuff. Love the old photos of Stevie and Lindsey and their Fritz band.
Saw Them in 1970 at San Jose State. Student strike when Nixon invaded Cambodia
What did you think of Stevie and Lindsey then, did you think they would become famous?😊
They opened for Janis at that show, right?
Jeez what the hell?? THIS IS AWESOME! Back then Stevie was 20!! WHAT
I love this version of Born to be Wild even better than the OG by Steppenwolf! And I love the OG but this is far better! When you realize it is a young band live w/out great acoustics & pricey sound equipment it is incredible! Each member is great! Of course love Lindsey&Stevie ❤️
Wish she would do it in concert today.
Don't ever kid yourself. A lot of hard work, persistence, and the will to not stop going. Aplausos 👏👏👏
Lindsey Buckingham was 18 years old Here
Wish I was there to see them!!
That's a really convincing cover. 👍
Wowwwwww
Great memories of the early days of music for me, a real awakening!
Music goes back a long ways... it didn't start and end with you
@@dorengarcia7925 yes it did.
Crazy that this exists! Thanks for sharing.
So cool! I love it!!
definitely a gem! awesome!
30 ans stevie toujours au top j adore
Thanks for this gem and all the great photos!
Javy Pacheco is really working that organ, too.
(Hey, just because he didn't become a superstar is no reason not to give the man his props.)
I tried to upload some Fritz songs he wrote... he blocked everything. Personally. With threats. So I guess everything he ever wrote will get released after he's gone, when no one cares anymore, and most of his fans have passed away...
@@Opalstardream Huh. I assume he wants every bit of revenue he can get, but the more people who know the work, the better the distribution, I would think. Most people's knowledge of Lindsey and Stevie only goes back as far as BN album, most likely.
Heck, I only really learned the history of the band this week. I still don't even know who Fritz Rabyne was.
Thanks for your work.
Cool find 😎
Incredible.
Wow man
Stevie graduated high school in 1967 so in 1968 she was a mere baby of 19 and, was even back then amazing!!
Sorry, Lacy, Stevie was a year ahead of Lindsey, Bob and me. She graduated M-A in 1966.
My new years 2017........
Sa fait 50 ans 😯😦
Classic! Vintage! My favorite girl & helluva song to boot! TYVM!!!
What a kick!. Stevie singing harmony when her voice completely overpowers the lead singer.
Fuc&$# A ! That girl can sing !
Wow! Her voice is incredibly powerful here. BOTH of them actually. Damn they were 18 and 19 then. AWESOME! What were you doing at 18? Lol. I was gettin high and tryin to figure out WHAT to do with my life and didnt have a clue. These guys knew EXACTLY where they were goin and well on their way
Do you think they knew they would make it? Or maybe just playing cos they loved it? I'm watching a Tom Petty concert right now and Stevie just came out.
Same here
@@juana1483 she planned on being a star.
just listen to the demo of "after the glitter fades" about how hard it is making ti holywood YEARS before she was famous. :)
Anybody know if any videotape of Fritz appearing on the Ross McGowan Thing TV show might be lurking somewhere? I was mesmerized watching Stevie dance. They played a dance at St. Martin's Church in San Jose, and were excellent.
Amazing!!
There are many more Fritz songs with Stevie and Lindsey on vocals, in much better quality too. Unfortunately, they were all written by Javier Pacheco, who will not release them and has them removed from youtube if they are posted. My last channel was terminated when he took down three Fritz songs at once, so this Steppenwolf cover tune is the only one he can't take down.
Opalstardream
These clips are true treasures. My husband graduated from Stanford in 1978 and I showed him these clips with great joy. Is Javier concerned about revenues from this? It's pure delight to see this footage. I will hope and pray that more can be released.
Opalstardream Too bad, honey, get over it. Those materials were offered at the Penguin site on the condition that users do not download them for their own use. You violated that condition and you also violated UA-cam copyright rules.
NatureGirl62 Of course I would love to see revenues from the Fritz collection, but I want Linds and Stevie to help produce a decent CD with good art work. Their distribution channels are the most appropriate path to getting this out to the widest audience. Stevie wrote two songs for Fritz that I kept off the internet. Two years ago I gave her a digital copy of her two songs. Our high school 50th reunion is 2017. Maybe by then the Fritz Rabyane Memorial Band will do something.
Opalstardream Correction! I could take this site down tomorrow, if I wanted. You don't own the rights to the b&w pics, those are all my property, as well as some of the posters and the business cards. However, you did a decent job on the video and I wouldn't want you to think I was a blue meanie.
I'll never stop loving you my queen take me with you my queenyyou were born to be Wild
100%
Definitely going for the Jefferson Airplane approach on that song
Lindsey Buckingham and stevie were both in this band
Jason Raczkowski thank you, captain obvious
that's funny Capt obvious....here's on for ya...ya think maybe why they broke up was due to the amount of time spent ....sheesh...he must've gotten rotten and abusive after the money came in obviously lol she would've left him in this era no?
yes
Yes Lindsey was in it first he remembered Stevie from the school and ask her to come join with ,Fritz and they all said yes
What a great beginning they were rocking back then also
Is there any chance you have a recording of their version of Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Cod'ine"? I've read that they performed it live
this is amazing! how did you find this?
Its on youtube
Price of the tickets --$1.50-$3.50!! Think i just saw tickets for Stevie are over $300!! Yikes!
Still love her though....
Was Lindsey still playing bass here?
Yes! He was phenomenal on bass, back then.
in the newspaper photo he seems to be playing a strat from what I can tell, and Brian Kane is playing the bass
Not actually overpowering is it ?
Was Fritz the original writer of the song?
Noooo.
What happened to the "heavy metal thunder" part???? It was kind of garbled....
That Woojer bass thingy is just dumb.
