I have a 11 Hyundai Tucson 2 L and check engine light is on. Ran diagnostics and code P0106 came back stating needs replacement of MAP Sensor. Do these things just go bad over time as the car gets older? Just curious. How much does the replacement part normally run for? TIA!
Yes. It is electric and have a sensor that sticks out. the sensor gets beat by all the air rushing through the air filter, pass this sensor then into the engine. Very good question. Some people "clean" them but I would say get a new one.
If you get the part from the dealer I could see them charging $200. I got this one from an auto parts store for 75$ and It is really really easy to change.
I have the same code and will replace the part. Will a bad sensor affect the drive by wire accelerator? Two times the throttle wouldn't rev, meaning no forward or reverse movement...after maybe an hour of driving and/or sitting with engine idling. Both times I disconnected/reconnected the battery and got going again.
@@hobman yes. Great question. The MAP senses how much air to mix with the gas so this can be the reason. Let me know what happens after you change this piece. Remember to erase the code after you install to get a fresh ECU read. If this helps please subscribe.
I replaced it an hour ago....haven't shut it off since....drove a little while, now sitting idling...try to replicate the last time it went limp. So far so good🤞. The old sensor was grimy for some reason.... 273k miles might have something to do with that...😂. I'll clear the code tomorrow.
Update...same limp mode happened 😢 ....I didn't have my reader with me, so had to dic the battery ect...to get going again. I'll try to let it run a lengthy time at home and wait for the check light or symptoms to return. I probably need to order the accelerator pedal assy....?
Sometimes the catalytic converters causes same issues. Run the car on idle for 10 min and look Yoder the car at night. If the converter is plugged it will smell funny and start to get red.
@@OldHickory176 Great Question. I actually got this one at Advanced Auto. We have a commercial account. I buy from a lot of places but never the dealership unless I absolutely have too.
I’m going to perform gdi carbon cleaning soon on my 2018 Hyundai Tucson by spraying cleaner on intake. Does map sensor needs to be removed prior to cleaning? I don’t see MAF sensor anywhere so I assume there is no MAF on it.
You are correct. This sensor takes the place of a MAF, mass air flow, sensor. Great question. I would just clean it. Please let me know what product you used and how it worked so my viewers can know. Thanks and subscribe please.
Good video. Short and to the point. A question if I may - there are a lot of pages on the net suggesting a new map sensor needs to be calibrated after placement. Is any of that true?
I put this one in and drove off. Customer had no complaints. Don't get MAP - Manifold Atmosphere Pressure and Fuel MAP confused. Fuel MAP yes. MAP sensor no. The ECU/DME should be capable to plug and play this in every car after 1996
Great question. If it is the original from day 1 then yes I would do it. You will probably notice a little more MPG and maybe even a few HP lost due to old circuits.
This bad sensor was causing an irregular idle and lose of power in the engine. After installed ran great.
I hope this truck owner appreciate you.
Sent this to a buddy thanks.
Awesome thank you!
Very important to figure out this little sensor to make the car idle and run.
nice addition to the Hyundia playlist.
Enjoy!
Very professional video.
Thank you very much!

Hello, where is localizated Map sensor in a Tuscon 2008 g4gc?
@@joelaizprua8637 thanks for the question. Is it a 2.0 or 2.4? If not what engine do you have?
Thinks man I had a problem with my car and I think I have to clean the map sensor or the exsoust

Can I get a subscribe? I have a few Tucson videos and a lot of basic mechanics to help people.
Could I ask where you bought that MAP sensor? As in local vs chain.
I may need a new one but I’m not sure where to go to find one for my 2011 Tucson
