    Notes, clarifications and corrections:
    • If you want to put standard path signals on the end of a terminal station pointing inwards you can do, it will still work.
    • if you do put depot's on the other end of a terminus station then a train coming out of the depot into the station will reserve part of the block in front if it and could stop other incoming trains reaching other platforms. Putting standard path signals on the end of the station pointing inwards would fix this problem. ( however I still recommend against putting demos on the end of your station)
    • Sometimes trains may reverse at stations due to glitches or complex orders. To prevent this, especially in more advanced setups, you could add path signals at each platform's end.

    I think one thing you didn't explicitly show or describe was why putting depots at the end of a terminus station was causing Duncan issues. As you had mentioned at the start, normally you don't need signals at the end of a terminus station because the train is pointing into the dead-end. However, in Duncan's case, the train went to the depot first, amd then stopped at the station after leaving it, meaning it was pointing out of the station towards the cross-over and blocking all other trains from entering. In that situation, signals on the exit would have prevented it (like a RORO). I think that was the crux of his problems (along with a large amount of alcohol intake!)

    • @MasterHellish-Gaming
      @MasterHellish-Gaming  7 місяців тому +8

      Ah yes, of course, a train coming out of the depot would reserve the line, which is different from when a train is in the station and is turning around. I still think it's not a very good idea to put depot's on the end of those platforms. Thanks for the comment

    Good stuff as always MH!
    If I had one issue, it's just in that I think it's not wise to encourage people to think of terminus stations as having an invisible signal. You described it right the first time, the other platforms are open because the trains reserve the track ahead of them. Since they are still facing away, the entry block remains open.
    There are times where, for some reason, a train will turn around in the station and reserve the entry block. Sometimes it's because of a glitch, other times it's due to complicated "stop twice" orders (my fav, conditional orders, can cause it to happen). Anyway, in most games you won't see it happen. Players who do those sorts of orders will probably find it best to include normal path signals at the end of each platform (as in a two way ro-ro) to avoid the turn around issue.
    If there were an invisible signal, block signals on the entry and exit lines would work the same way, they don't. It's just because of the path reservation, which, you described perfectly earlier in the video.
    Cheers!

      This was what I was going to say, there's no hidden signal it's simply reservations in the direction of travel.

    Thanks so much for your fantastic tutorials! I last played TTD several decades ago as a child… getting back into it now, couldn’t remember anything but that doesn’t matter as after several of your tutorials I realise I didn’t even know the basic basics back then anyway 😂. Enjoying learning and playing now 😁👍

    Still place signals on exit of terminus stations myself out of habit. Less likely to forget for ro-ro and 2way ro-ro. Also think it just looks nicer

If you need OpenTTD help you can either go to one of the following places; You can check out my tutorial series (ua-cam.com/video/CMXFMjZu8j8/v-deo.html) or come along to my Discord where there is an OpenTTD Help channel (discord.gg/Dy7YWkXUsX).
