I’ve seen the “don’t do it” or “it can’t be done” posts quite a bit on many subjects of model specific parts. Land Rover didn’t change much thru the years. It’s a simple rig with lots of interchangeable parts. Excellent video! Great job!! Looks great!
Great car and a nice taste to get it looking like that. I wanted to ask if you had to trim much of the front grill to get the winch in, or if it would be possible to fit the winch without cutting the grill, and maybe the electrical controls hidden behind??
Thanks. With this bumper, the grill will need to be trimmed to clear a winch. It may be possible to hide the control box behind the grill somewhere, but I gave up on that.
I got it from Lucky 8. Here's the link: lucky8llc.com/collections/discovery-ii-armor/products/land-rover-discovery-2-front-winch-bumper-steel-heavy-duty
Yeah, it should work fine. I didn’t because it’s a lot easier to cut some .065 aluminum than .125 powder coated steel. But I can see why you’d rather cut the bumper than the body.
Thanks! I ordered the decal from Zen Graphics in the UK. Unfortunately I messed up on the driver side and it’s missing the lighter grey part. Still not sure what I want to do about that…
You know, I meant to weigh it but my scale had a dead battery and I was in a hurry. I’d guess maybe 80 lbs or so. Good to know about the RRC parts interchangeability.
I tried this on my D1 and the bumper did not fit very well. Do you have a body lift on yours? I am trying to figure out how you made it look so easy to install
@@tfrasca142 the fenders, grill, light bezels are all too low. I can’t get the bumper high enough to get the bolt holes to line up on the frame even with the wimpy factory bolts. I may cut and weld the mounting brackets to make it work, plus It is about an inch too far forward on the vehicle.
I've been considering that bumper after I bent my ARB bumper really bad at the mounting points. They are great but they stick out too far having too much leverage and its easy to bend them if you barely get snagged. Anyway I'd like to get that one or the one on Rovers North that looks similar but it comes with LED lights where the holes are. Looks like it's $579. I never understood why all the other ones are 600 plus with no lights.
That's the main thing I don't like about the ARB. Not only does it have some crazy leverage on it, but the approach angle seems like it would be quite a bit worse than a more compact bumper. The only bummer about this setup is that you have to cut a big chunk out of the grill to fit the winch, but I think it's worth it to keep things tight.

It's surprising how many people will post things they've heard, seemingly without actually having any firsthand experience with the issue in question.
@@tfrasca142 exactly!! Very common in many different classic car genres.
Absolutely jelly at how easy it is to work on your rig! Can't wait to see that winch in action...
Hopefully soon!
Looks really good! I’ve always wondered if a. D2 bumper would fit!
Looks DOPE! Cheers from a Yank in the UK with a NAS Disco 2 V8. 🍻
Useful video, that made me sure I can easily install any d2 bumper mod on my d1 because of similar bolt holes

Aww, buddy, I'll come help you lift your bumper next time 🤗💜✊🏽✊🏽

Ya. Me too. 🎉 lol
Excellent video! Off Topic - What is your wheel and tire combination?
Thanks! Wheels are 16x7 0mm steelies, with 255/85r16 BFG KM3.
@@tfrasca142 Okay that's sort of what I was thinking! No spacers?
Nope. @@Tylerberry317
Sorry might have missed it but what is the part number for that bumper. Britpart? Or Tierra firma
And where did you buy it.
Thanks

Love the decal. Where did you find it?

awsome D1! Glad you mentioned that! i have the same decal on my maroon 1997 se7 in a red, orange and grey pattern. only other one i have seen like it.
Any idea what that Britpart bumper weighs by any chance?
Range Rover Classic front and rear bars for a D1 as well if you didn’t know 👍🏼

Very nice rig and job well done !!
What offset your wheels tks ?

What's interfering? I don't have a body lift on mine.

Nice. I’m going to grab one for Mine as well. Can you give me a rundown on your suspension and tyre setup? I’d like mine to stand the same as yours
Glad it was helpful. I have a 2” Terrafirma Pro Sport lift with the longer shocks, 1” spring spacers, and no sway bars.
@@tfrasca142 legend. Looks killer. What size tyres?
@@5blackguys thanks. Tires are 255/85r16, so around 33”.
Thank you! Your car is pretty much my goal 😂

Nice rig! What size tires are those?
Hey, thanks! Tires are 255/85r16. My next set will be 285/75r16 though.
I was always led to believe that the chassis rails were 10mm wider on a Disco 2 🤔
Looking good though 👍
Apparently not!
Hi! Where can you place the license plate?
You'd have to mount it off to the side, I guess. I don't have a front plate though.
Thanks! Btw for the rims, i have 235/86 r16 with 2” lift. Planning to install 30mm spacers, do i need some configurations?
@@bienvenidoquinia1893 You might be ok with 30mm spacers on stock rims. Not sure. 235 are really skinny.
