recently they've been playing songs from the second and third, but not the first. it'd be cool to hear the new line-up's take on those old tunes though.
Didn't discover these guys 'till late 2018; they all look like babies in this video from seven years back! So great to see how they've progressed, grown as a band, and all started to shave now ;- )
If someone gets me tickets to see Snarky Puppy I'll marry them (and I'm quite a catch..so it'll be worth your while!) I just love these guys. Can't get enough of them in my life. Thank for posting!
I really really wish they would play some of their old stuff on gigs...the only one they do now is pretty much 'Strawman'...but stuff like this, Celebrity, Native Sons, Phoebus, Thorn, Loose Screws...okay basically their whole second and third albums...are just awesome! Also, how can Sput do that so casually at 3:26?? Like...I just don't get it!!! And the tempo change at the end...WHAT. Literally, these guys have opened my musical eyes that I never thought was possible. Michael League is my actual hero in life
+Akil Henry Yeah. although, musicians have to keep moving forward, so playing old songs isn't naturally as appealing especially for musicians at this level who base everything they do on creativity. Most artists i appreciate are always moving forward. Often times new material has to grow on me, then I find my self saying the same thing another 4 albums down the road.
+Akil Henry As a guitar player this is just a guess but I really think it's the same principal that guitarists ( and bassists) use where in order to play faster stuff you REALLY have to concentrate on playing with as much of a light touch and economy of motion as you can in order for the faster stuff to sound fluid and musical.
+Akil Henry That Sput lick is tasty, isn't it? Practicing sixes with diddles around the kit against a quarter- or eighth-note pulse and you'll start hearing places for those fills, too. Sometimes it helps to move in and out of sixes with 16ths or 32nds, so you can train your ear to really hear how the syncopation.
Saw them a week ago in Nottingham and they played Intelligent Design which I had never heard before - it was probably one of my favourite songs of the night! GroundUp and We Like it Here are probably their most popular albums but their new stuff, as well as the old songs are just as good, if not better.
Very soothing probably since 2013 I have listened to this it inspires me sometimes it's not about the lyrics themselves the beat talks as well you just gotta listen feel it 🌌🎧🎶
Just saw this band in Atlanta last week and again back in April. Love these guys. Snarky Puppy is an exceptional band, and will be noted as probably one of the most important groups in the last 10-20 years.
This band is something else. I wish there were more bands like them out there. Everyone sounds great and Nate Werth definitely shines here. Its great to see the band let him have this. Well done
I am just SO glad that they played this so recently at the Royal Albert Hall, It's on Spotify and the live version from there is simply amazing. One of my favorites, if not my favorite song from them! I am biased for being Brazilian but ya know this sounds too good from the get-go already...
These guys ain't quite right. Thanks for this, Martin, long time no see; thanks for the card. I'm at gmail, forget all other addresses. Drove 15 miles from my home into town last summer, right around midnight, to catch Snarky. My jaw always drops at their sense of community: like what you used to say when you hung round the Palladium. Love the bassist with the drummer here, who is tighter than a duck's ~ but also with Sput and with ummmm Dana Hawkins.Isn't music going to nice places these days: not just vamps on the 1? Real songs.
Michael had a ponytail?!???? 😮😮😮😮😮 He was hiding the slickback from us. Lol. But forreal this was fire! Percussion and drums really did so much here. And damn Mark! Letting that guitar sang!!!
This song gives me mental images of a bunch of dogs hanging out at a swimming pool drinking cocktails and enjoying 'people' life.c Oddly enough none of them are puppies or are acting 'snarky'. 'Man is Dog's best friend,.. ... sometimes.'
martincongahead is doing such a wicked job! congahead.com = some of the most epic live music videos on youtube... well done man, keep supporting REAL music! (oh and speaking of job... it must be a cool job to have... if you ever want to start recording congahead stuff in London, contact me! ;)
6 years later...still haven’t heard this song enough!
I love how the percussionist and drummer play together and dont clash. That was awesome snare work.
They don't just play music, they create atmosphere! Never seen a band so technically sound and that has so much fun at the same time.
It's such a shame they don't play their first or second albums live any more, there's some real golden tracks on both.
recently they've been playing songs from the second and third, but not the first. it'd be cool to hear the new line-up's take on those old tunes though.
@@b0geman117 Intelligent design along with alma seem to have been popping up a lot lately
language, please...
Can't get enough Snarky Puppy. Must have ALL albums as soon as possible!!!
Their grooves are sick!!!
Didn't discover these guys 'till late 2018; they all look like babies in this video from seven years back! So great to see how they've progressed, grown as a band, and all started to shave now ;- )

If someone gets me tickets to see Snarky Puppy I'll marry them (and I'm quite a catch..so it'll be worth your while!)

The percussionist is awesome too, I think he's a Nateural:-)
I really really wish they would play some of their old stuff on gigs...the only one they do now is pretty much 'Strawman'...but stuff like this, Celebrity, Native Sons, Phoebus, Thorn, Loose Screws...okay basically their whole second and third albums...are just awesome! They can't play Thorn, Briar, Loose Screws, Strange Dream or any of those because Brian Donohoe and Sput left.
Very soothing probably since 2013 I have listened to this it inspires me sometimes it's not about the lyrics themselves the beat talks as well you just gotta listen feel it 🌌🎧🎶

My big brother introduced snarky puppy to me and I've been a fan ever since, just mind blowing
Only discovered this band about a week ago and have not stopped listening to them since! Genius doesn't even begin to describe these guys!

I was wondering when they were gonna give the percussionist some shine. He took every bit of it. I now know who Nate Werth is.
Video is from before he was an endorser (back in 2011).
Great
fusion!
8 people gave this a thumbs down? Jealous much?
***** you are absolutely right, "Snarky" is the real deal "Hollifield", they play their "ASSES OFF" !!!
Maracatu at @3:14
isn't Robert Searight an endorsee of Meinl? I see him playing Sabian in the video.
wooooof... needed a quick fix before tomorrow's show...
How was that show?
*kind! Also, Snarky Puppy is more or less a Funky Jazz Fusion group with influences from R&B and gospel.
Sput looks like Tech N9ne in this video. :P still killing it be hind the set.
