@@Vertex-nm3ug There’s a difference this is closer to home. Kids look up to these guys and feel that all they have to do to be like them is act like them. I don’t play destiny and feel like I can get a space gun and shoot aliens kiddo.
@Very Caned not every kid is going to look up to them. I mean a couple of artists have said not to follow their movements etc, even if they all say that, some kids will copy no matter what.
Jacob O'C wrong if it’s not kids accountable to not do stuff after they’ve been told not too then it’s the parents responsibility to raise their child the artists aren’t responsible for your child you are
if you cant/dont acknowledge that drill music glorifies ,romanticizes and glamorizes these crimes then you're simply in a state of denial. the entire genre is essentially used as a mouthpiece for gangs to taunt, brag ,boast and to issue threats to rivals.it's an impossibility that it dosn't encourage violence and be a potential bad influence
I think a bigger cause is no father or father figure in a lot of households. By the time a boy hits his teens he's physically a lot harder to control and discipline. Kids, especially boys in this case need a male role model and too often have no contact with meaningful older males
Tony Underscore yeah a ghettoised lifestyle brought into fashion as though it’s something to aspire to be. Not my fault your people never created two story buildings.
Denzel Washing Interview talking about this topic listen from 2min59sec, (its a short talk, should start at the right time though) ua-cam.com/video/O0dCvQdt5XI/v-deo.html
Music has been blamed for "corrupting" youth since I was a teen 50 years ago. The young man says the truth. i said this at a parent/teen meeting at my daughters church. The music does NOT influence, but reflects the attitudes of the youth. Censorship just makes zero sense. We need to listen, to hear, to comprehend, to understand. Or we will continue to push the youth further away, underground. Remember "Dirty Dancing?"
Shirley pilger how can you compare dirty dancing to lyrics like ‘stick my blade in his gut, cut him, wet him up, shoot his mum in the face at the funeral, fuck his sister at the funeral, rape and stab then get cash grab sell drugs on the street stab your mum again shit’ The guy who wrote those lyrics is one of the people in the video saying the music isnt a problem
Most people when they listen to rap music don't even pay good attention to the lyrics. The important part of lyrics in rap songs is the flow, and the sound. You could literally be saying shit that makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER and people will still listen to it
And banning drill music will do nothing. Where do you think that the person who said "stick my blade in his gut, cut him up" learned that from? Obviously in his community. The hoods and ghettos always had big problems with a gang culture of violence, and most kids in the hood learn about violence WAY before they listen to their first drill song.
Drill glamorises crime and desensitizes people to murder by calling dead people 'points'. If drill is just an expression to how some rappers live, then why do they intentionally provoke their opps and even brag about the people they've killed. It's not mere expression at that point, it's incitement.
Poverty and ignorance are the main causes. However, if you encourage the ignorant and poor to kill each other, do drugs and rob people through music, you'll likely increase violence with people who are already at risk. I don't understand why it's legal to essentially threaten someone's life through music and not in real life. Some of the crap in music should be considered terroristic threats.
Because they're targeted at other gangs and not innocent people. You really think a gang is going to sue another gang for a threat? No, they're going to keep it in the streets.
The guy with the scar on his face saying at the end "he makes music to try and influence people to do the right thing " yeah because I'm sure his lyrics are saying stuff like "do well in school go to university get a good job" ect ect
He's telling us his story, I damn well would rather hear that than your BS any day of the weak,. No one raps about what you just said, it doesn't sell and I don't think I want to listen to a nerd whose lyrics consist of that, maybe they should stick to academia or another field instead of music but many artists have said one liners like that and that's all that's needed, not whole songs about it, I want to hear about the tough shit my man went through to learn from his mistakes and his situations. If you have never listened to his music before, who are you to judge? You are already stereotyping his lyrics before you have even had a chance to hear you, at the end of the day he's just another artist in the genre, many artists are different from each other especially those who are underground and not mainstream.
Okay, if you want to blame violence on music then you are demented just like how parents from the 1950's blamed rock music for childern using drugs violence on the other hand has been around forever way before any of the music that uses it as a form of expression okay you must learn how to separate reality from what you hear and see in the music that is the real problem that is why people blame certain genre's for violence instead of taking responsibilities for their actions.
Did Elvis Presley threatened to kill Frank Sinatra through his music because he was “lame and boring” name one rock n roll song that talked about “killing another band group because they’re posers” that’s the difference. Back then it was sex and drugs. Now it’s gang banging and extortion.
Can't believe the denial in the comment section, do you people even listen to drill ? "when I shank man up I tear through the guts, man stabs for the kill" "Man got splashed and died and I dnt feel sorry for his mum" "I put flick knives in necks, Rambo knives in chests" Awww how cute, there just playing Yutes have been killed because of certain comments said in certain tunes There is yutes out there who wna stab up a few opps quickly just so they can brag bout it, make a few bangers, get a rep, make money of the views and become a drillstar. Trident and Cids actually listen to some drill in order to follow patterns and prevent incidents and learn who is beefing who. YES the music is not the cause but if you wna act like it doesn't have any negative influence on young people then you just ain't being real

This has been going on for years. It was dub, it was rock 'n roll; it was theatre; it was performance art; it was the blues; it's jazz; and you name it; it is art that is challenges the status quo. Muzzle the things that matter. It's just as specious and easy to pass on the blame as it was hundreds of years ago. Blame the music; blame the artist. There is no simple solution. The MPs and governments who produce this hell that people live in. It's easier to pretend people are things. Then you can dismiss them. Easier to ignore it than to do something about it.
Nope. Not the same thing. Jazz, rock, or any other genre that you have mentioned does not have the quality of glorifying violence, threats, and murders. With street drill it is just that. Mostly about violence.
yohai how come I managed to get a job and all these dickheads can’t? They bang on about not being able to get a job and they don’t even try, waste of space

False equivalence, rock and roll and early hip hop did not have violent lyrics about stabbing people, shanking people and dehumanizing women. Also many rappers are affiliated with gangs and are quite open about this.
Drill is a form of expression just like any other type of music. The government needs to stop making excuses for an environment of violence and drugs that they are to blame for. Babies aren't born wanting to stab people, their surroundings define them and that's the government's fault for not having a suitable support network to help these kids out of poverty and away from drugs.
Yes poverty feeds into it but why must that lead to violence towards each other. I grew up poor but my morals would not allow me to be violence towards another person . the issues is deeper than poverty we missing core values

Censorship huh. I thought they shared our first right to freedom of speech. That's not a sign of democracy to suppress the voice of the people regardless of what or how it can be interpreted
Aehabitat / I wonder what's "filling up" your head. Air? People can be influenced to dress a certain way, not kill. That's when common sense should kick in.
But these young men don't have common sense, I agree with Censorship in this case because these young men will diss each other in drill music videos. And kill each outer over a diss, you and I both know as black men many of us don't walk away from a diss. Someone near where I live died, just because he was friends to a guy that made a diss track.
James Watson then snapchat and Instagram should be banned as well cos they can diss each over those dissing someone in a drill song is not different than dissing someone over snapchat and Instagram they use drill as their main source a income so to get out of that life so they don’t have to make illegal money cos in those unprivileged areas opportunities are very limited banned makes things worse I agree with censoring the disses but not drill altogether and the disses are now.censored and the tracks that have disses that aren’t censored get taken down not every drill track is diss track only a few
Avid drill and Atlanta trap listener here. Most rappers actually brag about killing instead of having a story about it. Also, many innocent wannabe drill rappers get killed because they made diss tracks on actual crews that murder.
They're not innocent if they are looking to start beef with established gangs, that's just plain stupid. Quite a few dumb artists who get too caught up in situations that could have been avoided, many who unfortunately become victims of incidents that they couldn't do much about either but not a reason to censor the music genre as a whole.
Drake always talks about guns and killing etc but does it in a way that doesn't sound as raw. But the message is the same, more affective actually. That's one of the reasons I don't like drake. He's more brainwashing than 67 etc.. In numerous ways. Violence, sex (lust), I could go on..
I mean, I’m not depressed because I listen to Radiohead, I listen to Radiohead because it pertains to depression. I think this music just reflects what they’re seeing and feeling. It should be taken as a sign of something more deeply wrong on a societal scale.
This fully reminds of when the FBI tried to stop the rise of "gangster rap" coming from Compton and hoods all over America in the 80s-90s, when rap started to change from being non lyrical, non violent street dance music to being about the thug life or even lyrical and speaking about poverty and racism in America. The police tried to silence rappers as they didn't want white people to start liking this new genre of music that until that point had only been famous among black people in the hood. They fully tried to shut down rap groups and blamed them of promoting violence and using music to support criminal activity from one rival gang to another, but it quickly became famous and they weren't able to shut it down and here we are 20 years later, and the government in the UK is trying to silence a relatively new music genre that is slowly becoming popular worldwide and until around 2014 was only famous around London estates. This is the exact same story.
The music clearly glorifies violence But If they stopped making drill would this reduce violence in these communities? I’m on the fence, win me over to your side.
I am Backwards Music drill can cause violence with disses but that can be done over social media as well as drill so it’s no different banning it will make it worse
just juggy that is so true just like in America with gangster rap in the early 90s when it first came out upper middle class Americans from clean safe communities who where usually white accused it of causing violence and tried to censor it but they never considered that it was really just a expression of a sad culture of violence and drugs abuse that existed in urban impoverished minority neighborhoods since the 60s
Every body act like Drill music began in London which is wrong . The term came from Chicago from a dude that goes by the name of pac man and king Louie and I feel like people never give these men credit. Drill is not London or NY. Drill is a Chicago thing.
The thing with this is yes - drill music does inspire the youth as I have seen people who really don’t live that life claiming that’s them because they got into drill music. However you can’t put all knife/gun violence down to drill. If it wasn’t about the gang violence would still be around and as big a problem as it is. Just the government looking for something to point the finger at for the countries problems. If they didn’t make those crazy cuts the youths would have more options/things to do.
some peoplehere thinking they're woke likely live in nice areas and aren't anywere near where the violence happens. People don't understand especially in hood, young kids look up to these drill rappers because they are in a way spokespeople for their own experiences. As a result, these musicians create this false of financial and social success through a lifestyle of gangbanging. Often times young males see them as role models because they see these rapper getting women, and they figure they'll get women too if they adopt the same mentality. The music isn't the main cause but it most definitely contributes in different ways. Lot of people here don't understand the dynamics of the hood.
This genre is somewhat similar to hip hop and a lot of rap. It's raw and hard and if the media can't handle it don't listen to it and UA-cam shouldn't censor it
it's not exactly about the media, entirely. It's also about the cops picking up dead kids off pavements, the ambulance worker wondering what he could have done to save that life, the social workers too. It's also about the mother who was passing with her kid, as the knife plunged in. It's also about the kids parents being sent a song where an opp is expressing his good fortune to be having some kid to sing hs victories about. etc etc... Society is bigger, a lot bigger than just the media.
Ofc they are. They're insecure with themselves and theres multiple causes for the insecurity. So what do these young men try and do? Act "hard" act like they know how to get through life but they don't have a clue. Even the slang these days is just there so if they use it, they feel included in society. It's actually quite sad that they need this persona just to feel something.
Anyone in High school especially in poorer areas can see the effect drill music on young people. 13 year olds getting arrested, teenagers getting stabbed. Poor kids see this “road” lifestyle as a way out from their bad lives but it is the opposite. It is submitting yourself to getting stabbed or going to prison over a postcode or over drugs.
Drill is basically ride out music. Let’s be honest. People like it. It gets people adrenaline going when listening to it & makes them feel pumped. Think about it.. Am I wrong?
Music isn't responsible, culture is. Music is just an outlet for ones own culture. Death Metaller's sing about serial killers and mass murder, but so far there hasn't been any who have become serial killers or mass murderers. That's because the lyrics are more symbolic of lonely youth feeling outcasted from society. On the other hand Drill or Gangster rape is synonymous with mainly black youth who are predominantly in gangs, commit crime, deal drugs and commit post code territorial violence. We need to stop blaming the music and instead start blaming the culture and start asking why this culture exists.
This is an old conversation, way back they used to say nwa, Eminem , 50 etc glamorised guns and killing but it all comes down to the person not the music
Real all three of the acts you mentioned, NWA, Em and 50 have all rapped about popping caps from their gats into their enemies and getting into beef rolling with their crews but we understand they were telling stories about how rough life can be in the hood of LA, Detroit and New York growing up as well Hip-hop is better for it arguably people being introduce into a dark side of life by people who did their best to make music and be successful to get out of there but never forgot where they came from.
In my humble opinion Drill music is NOT the cause of the violence, although some Drill tunes I’ve heard could possibly intensify already standing disputes. From the ‘Teddy Boys’, the Football hooligans, the old English gangsters i.e the Krays/Richardsons etc, the Prolific Bank Robbers of the Eighties violence has always been here. Cuts to the police and very limited opportunities don’t help.
Im all for music I like rap and trap music, but when drill music blew up in Chicargo so did the gun violence rate and death toll, now drill has died down abit its gone down abit, whoever doesnt think music influences the youth obviously hasnt been around the younger generation and needs to get to grips with reality
just to add onto my comment, cheerful music makes you want to dance and feel good, why wouldnt violent music make you want to do violent stuff? it works both ways
It isn't the influence and glorification of UK drill causing knife crime. It's the influence and glorification of Gang Culture. Outsiders looking in get it confused cuz they only see UK drill as it's been documented and televised. The long term beefs n bigger issues are hidden from public views -- that's where the issue lies.
And what glorifies gang culture more than anything... Music. Whether it being some old school hip-hop from Compton or UK Drill from Streatham, they relate in very many ways, one being gang culture.
Na it’s not it’s just a reflection of what is actually going on in the real world , it’s an escape from that life because think about it when they focus on the music they are not on the streets where all this “crime goes on” etc. But if drill is banned they turn to the streets because there is no help and way out, the only way out is through the music. 👀
@@qbantz its defo not a reflection they rap about drills and chinging mandem even if sum drill rappers get to daves level the authenticity of drill is violence so honestly music dont help dem jump of road in fact all da fame they get encourages it jus look at SJ but hey im a big fan of drill music so it is wat is
It's not per say 'the cause of violence' but it sure perpetuates it, bunch of gang members talking about chinging opps aint innocent in any sense of the word. The whole focus of drill is based around that.
Anyone saying drill aint a cause of street violence you cant be from the streets, im not saying its the main cause but it is definetly adding fuel to the fire, it stirs things up even more....such things as calling out other gangs or throwing up the other gangs sign with a gun meaning kill, or going to the other gangs blocks, its also like a game now days "check the scoreboard", and when the youngers underneath them are watching these vids talking about cheffing opps and shooting opps what do you think is gna happen? like i said its not the main cause but it defo aint helping and is defenetly stirring things up.
The music is not the entirely the source of this problem in society. It is a reflection of the problems and it perpetuates the problems by glamourising the situation
1. If you don’t talk like you’re from the ENDZ “laiiike dis yoo kno-ooo” and you work hard at school then you’re called a “neek”. 2. If you’re a gentleman then you’re a “simp”. So it’s fashionable to “pretend” to be a certain way because they think people (especially females) will like it, but the reality is they DON’T. This is because of peer pressure. Have to be better than that.
Poverty, education and lack opportunities and positive role models are the biggest factors with crime. The easy way out for powers that be for their failure is blame the music/culture/social media although a small minority this may influence their actions. Removing it just prevents a way of telling their story
I’d say like any music it fuels the emotion that’s already there. If you are heated and you listen to it, it will only feed your anger. It’s more of a workout genre to fight with your worst enemy; yourself
No, we get intoxicated on music. It puts feelings there that weren't there. Makes us behave in a way we normally wouldn't behave. It's called being conditioned.
I think the music people listen to has no influence on their activities as if someone wants to be violent, they have made a continuous decision to be violent
Drill music is cathartic. People don’t live what they rap, they rap what they live. It’s an outlet to curve violent tendencies. I guarantee you if people weren’t rapping about hoping their opps got cheffed, they’d use that time to actually chef their opps down.
OK, sing a song about a rival. Rival gets angry and kills the original song maker. It’s pathetic.... Seems these kids need to learn how to take disrespect better. It’s called “being the bigger man” can’t help but assume those kids are fatherless as that’s where you learn things like this. In my opinion it’s due to single parent households. Am I wrong?
Yes you are wrong, plenty of two bit thugs from decent backgrounds and both parents but since both parents are not really role models and have broken their relationship with their children they go off and do this. Many people who have no parents and taken into foster care as well. Many people with terrible mother as a single parent who have pushed their father out of their life on purpose. There is so many different reasons and different upbringings many of these kids have, most of it less than ideal but not all of them are single parent households. So you can't just blame that one issue and act like if that was sorted then everything will be alright because that simply isn't true. Some people want to be bad people. Some are caught up in a situation and get stabbed through no fault of their own. You need to learn about each individual situation and learn about the people closely before you can start dishing out solutions that may help. For example, you will NEVER be able to solve the issue of single parent households, not possible. What punish people for having children out of wedlock or for divorce etc??? No way and even if you did that would not improve things a bit in practice, still a similar amount of people getting involved in the same shit even if there is a father etc because they can't control them so there is not point even mentioning it
I think the people defending this music are actually disrespecting black people. The reasons I’ve seen here are: poverty, fatherless homes, and nothing else to do. Is that how you see black people and culture in the UK? Are there any other reasons for knife crime?
It’s such a baseless claim to say that “drill is just an escape route”. Oh yeah? An escape route? Is that how you “escape” by reminding yourself of all the things that you’re supposed to be escaping from, like violence, drugs, guns etc?
Drill music definitely has a part to play for the violence. Of course they are glamorizing guns and violence, its not wrongfully blamed at all. How many people from gangs do the so called drill music, how many stabbings have been caused by drill music?
Drill has been a thing for 2 seconds, how long has violence been on the streets. Drill talks about the sammee things all other rap talks about, just with different slang
Outside of wars between countries, there's a correlation between low IQ and an increased propensity for violence and predatory aggression. Countries listed as having a low average quotient usually have violent crime statistics that are through the roof and an "enemy" (usually a higher IQ more successful group) they blame ALL their problems on; groups/cultures with a low average quotient (and the low emotional maturity that goes hand in hand with a low quotient) follow the same destructive pattern of behaviour.
Mac Clift That's a dumb statement . Through out history violence has been used to gain an advantage . So when the Europeans and Arabs were conquering lands and building empires with violence was that a low IQ because it's seems to have worked out well for them long term. Violence is natural from the smallest insect to the biggest beast violence is inherent in their behaviour.
Kirk Jones: there aren't any innocent groups of people who weren't conquering other tribes and lands hundreds of years ago. All groups of people have blood of their hands. Low IQ and low emotional intelligence have been linked to an increase in crime, including violent crime such as rape, TODAY! The FBI per capita rape stats for 2016 is probably also "a dumb statement."
Music is a form of hypnosis and drill is very bad it defo influences all this crime in England tbh not just drill but most music these days is bad people should listen to constructive things such as classical and it will change their mindset
Streets and music is “not” two different things... music glamourises the violence and lifestyle... attracting younger aduiencies toward that lifestyle... the two work in synergy...
It is storytelling and telling these kinds of truths will always start some shit. I can see both sides of the argument but the death and loss of life within drill artists is proof of the tongue being mightier than the sword.
I listen to drill and i dont feel loke going and robbing or stabbing someone. If ur not involved in gang violence and u feel like stabbing someone cos of the music then check urself mentally. Its the same with video games, if u see a violent video game and feel like murdering someone u need mental help. Violence in video games and in drill doesnt effect people outside of the gang life. The government doesnt need to stop the drill music but they need to do something in poverty stricken areas where teenagers are lead astray because they want to help their parents keep a house over their head or get out of their area so they get into drug dealing because its easy money. As big narstie said , the devil makes work for idle hands. When u run out of hope that things will get better, u turn to the easiest option and that is drug dealing.
Would definitely blame rap music (& other media forms) for violence. It doesn't affect people overnight but it does brainwash kids into thinking its real. These kids then portray what they perceive as reality from this stuff until it becomes reality as that kind of talk becomes the local culture.
This definitely influences people. It doesn’t promote violence. That’s not it. What it does is that it makes it seem “cool” and if you do some of these things you’re deemed more popular. Same goes for how they portray women. They’re literally depicted as “things” in Drill. So they feel like if they act a certain way it will attract more girls. Which is absolutely wrong. Maybe you’ll get together with someone for a week. But that’s not a real relationship. It’s use and abuse. The music industry itself is corrupt. Majority of people don’t post “positive” stuff. They post what sells. People need to realise that none of this is real.
Everyone knows music can influence your mood and feelings, why is this even a debate? They call it an escape yet when they make it big and make money, they’re still involved with the crime
Hip hop has always been an expression of reality, 30 years later in London this spirit still exists today as drill rap. There's a lot of talented yutes who are using music to escape their broken environment but when they're banned from making music or can't play shows then how can they get the recognition to achieve financial success?
Kirk Jones yeah that is true, I suppose grime is more London seeing as it has more of an English history with garage and all that. But Chicago drill and UK drill sound nothing alike tbh, it's gotten to a point where they're their own thing. Yeah it originated in chiraq but it's evolved separately into what it is now and has its own identity as a result. We could also argue grime isn't English cos technically the rap aspect of it originated in America too but it has fully become its own thing now. Hopefully u see my point
Mr H9736 Thank you for a common sense reply. These guys chatting rubbish about no opportunities and no jobs yet straight away you Craig who's a criminologist at B'ham uni.
False. Drill music originated in Chicago (USA) and it became popular in the UK AFTER it blew up here in chicago when artists like Chief keef, King louie, lud foe, gherbo, lil bibby, lil jay, etc blew up because of drill music. The UK copied chicago drill music that came out in 2010-2011. UK drill music didn't come out until years later in like 2014.
The UK was copying trap music from Atlanta before Chicago Drill music, then before that it was California gangsta rap, even had alot of people claiming to be bloods/crips, but they started off copying New York. If alot our music got that much of a negative influence of people in Europe raising murder rates and crimes, than it's even worse for Black people in America.
REAL music does not cause violence....but this rubbish isn't music, but a glorification of all the deranged sickness that can be witnessed daily on the streets. Just like in USA, these kinds of "musicians" have only two options in their lives - either becoming rich as a violent gangster, or becoming rich as a non-violent gangster through this "music". In other words, these rappers are simply potential criminals who have found success in a more or less legitimate business, otherwise, they would also run around the streets with knives, guns, and drugs. There is no moral superiority involved, whatsoever, simply they get the money through this legitimized expression of gangland culture.
I'm a huge fan of drill music and I can say that this is more of an outlet than anything. I listen to drill cause it's the truth. I would rather listen to someone that speaks about growing up and Having to steal due to being without money and Having to kill someone for taking the life of someone they loved over the corny garbage from Drake and J.Cole. For me I've robbed people, I've stolen from places just to feed me and My little brother, and I was close to stabbing someone for disrespecting me over nothing, but Cause he thought I was a pushover. The world is cold and crazy, it'll eat you alive if you don't try to make it out of that shit. Do what you can and Do what you need to do in order to survive. I'll never stop listening to Drill, Trap, or Gangster music. I look up to these people and Someday I hope to leave this shit behind and Live like a king. Shoutout to UK, Chicago, New York, and Brooklyn from Texas. Keep that shit alive and bumpin
It sounds like you aren’t bothered about right and wrong so long as you get what you want. It’s sad and you’ll never leave it behind, nor live like a king carrying on as you describe
And also, when it comes to gangs producing the drill vids and shit, ppl need to realise that it's between gangs, and gangs aren't targeting civilians, it's all gang rivalry.
Drill from my perspective does not directly aid the rise of violence, but it contributes a tiny amount to tip someone over the edge and go out to join a gang and get involved with crime. Like any if not most all drill artists, popular or not all rap about killing, acid attacks and dealing, which for people who grow up in the poorly managed shitty parts of London, where crime and harassment is on 24/7 is another unhealthy influence to poison their mind, especially when they are young.

Exactly. I feel like I shouldn't listen to it but the worldplay can be real cool.
I think a bigger cause is no father or father figure in a lot of households. By the time a boy hits his teens he's physically a lot harder to control and discipline. Kids, especially boys in this case need a male role model and too often have no contact with meaningful older males
Probably because drill music refers to women as little more than holes to fuck?

Music has been blamed for "corrupting" youth since I was a teen 50 years ago. The young man says the truth. i said this at a parent/teen meeting at my daughters church. The music does NOT influence, but reflects the attitudes of the youth. Censorship just makes zero sense. We need to listen, to hear, to comprehend, to understand. Or we will continue to push the youth further away, underground. Remember "Dirty Dancing?"
Shirley pilger how can you compare dirty dancing to lyrics like ‘stick my blade in his gut, cut him, wet him up, shoot his mum in the face at the funeral, fuck his sister at the funeral, rape and stab then get cash grab sell drugs on the street stab your mum again shit’
The guy who wrote those lyrics is one of the people in the video saying the music isnt a problem

Drill music is not the cause for all of the violent crime in London. But to deny that isn’t doesn’t play a factor is pure ignorance.

Clueless

Of course it's fair to blame them for it. It's a genre that's made entirely by criminals.

Exactly sir 🙏🏾
Same shit literally happened a decade ago with Grime
It’s such a baseless claim to say that “drill is just an escape route”. Oh yeah? An escape route? Is that how you “escape” by reminding yourself of all the things that you’re supposed to be escaping from, like violence, drugs, guns etc?
SHOW ME ONE DRILL ARTIST THAT DOESN'T HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD
SHOW ME ONE KILL ON INJURY CAUSED BY MUSIC OR TO BE SPECIFIC “DRILL”

Mac Clift Your correct, I remember at school the low IQ simple kids would cause the most trouble.
Kirk Jones Your reference"s are invalid because there were no international laws to abide to back then.

Not true. It just desensitises it, it doesn’t make kids go out there and kill. I listen to it all the time and I’m completely against knife crime
Music reflects the environment these youths are in but the circulation and glamourisation of the music surely doesn't help.
It is storytelling and telling these kinds of truths will always start some shit.
I can see both sides of the argument but the death and loss of life within drill artists is proof of the tongue being mightier than the sword.
drill and trap music are low key basically a new wave of heavy metal and rock music with 808s!
Violence existed before drill music you know. It doesn’t influence people at all. It just reflects their attitude
This promotes all of the bs though
People diss each other in music video then someone gets stabbed yet you guys say it’s not music grow tf up🤦♂️
Your telling me music makes people join Gangs 😂😂😂😂
Hip hop has always been an expression of reality, 30 years later in London this spirit still exists today as drill rap.
There's a lot of talented yutes who are using music to escape their broken environment but when they're banned from making music or can't play shows then how can they get the recognition to achieve financial success?
alakazam fam sorry fam don't agree. It's not the spirit of London. Drill music was formed in Chiraq. Different set of parameters over there
Kirk Jones yeah that is true, I suppose grime is more London seeing as it has more of an English history with garage and all that.
For fuck sales education is free in the Uk that one way out the hood
Why is no one willing to admit music can play apart in a persons thinking
Oooohhh ok. So over there, they call it "Drill" music, but over here in the US 'hoods we call it "Trap" music. 🤷
PaiN ExoTiC 2012*
The UK was copying trap music from Atlanta before Chicago Drill music, then before that it was California gangsta rap, even had alot of people claiming to be bloods/crips, but they started off copying New York. If alot our music got that much of a negative influence of people in Europe raising murder rates and crimes, than it's even worse for Black people in America.
PaiN ExoTiC thanks for the clarification!😉
northernsoutherngirl no we have drill and trap they're different
how do we not know whats happening when we always hear about people getting stabbed and shot
